I bought this exact truck on May 17th, 2017. Upgraded from a 2013 Silverado 1500. I tow up to about 8,000 pounds and this truck tows it much easier than the 1500 did. Not that the 1500 had troubles, just the 2500 HD does it with much more ease. I'm also getting much better mileage. Up to 26 on the highway and about 13 in the city. That's not towing and averaging about 65 on the highway. Have just over 7,200 trouble free miles in the first 3 months of ownership and love the truck. Only issues I would say I have is the EPA regulations have introduced some issues with the truck going into Regen too often and causing it to use more fuel for 30 miles every 100-400 miles. Great review. :-)

Chevrolet has been in my family for years, and I broke that line when I bought my first truck the other day, It was a Tundra (yes, I cross shopped lol). It's not that I didn't like the Silverado, but the double cab space is what did it for me. I drove and tested both a Silverado, and Tundra both equipped with a double cab. I haul two 6'2 guys with me occasionally, and I was concerned with space. Crew cab was not an option because I need the longer bed. I didn't want a crew cab with a full size bed. That's to long of a truck for me lol. I had both guys go with me on my test drives because I knew they would be dealing with the back seat. In the Tundra, (front seats adjusted to driver and front passenger specs), both guys hopped in and were comfy without their knees hitting the front seats. They actually had room to spare and we were all rather surprised. We tried this in the Silverado double cab, and the first guy could hardly fit. He looked so hunched it was pitiful lol. It was a bench seat up front, and I wasn't thinking and flipped back the center console to make room for a third person up front and that console slammed that poor dude in the knees. I knew right then it wouldn't work. To me, it seemed that the Tundra double cab was kinda in the middle of what a Chevrolet double cab and Crew cab offered with regards to space and leg room. Anyway, I'm happy with the truck and the reliability that Tundra has over that past several years. Really like the videos Tom. Keep up the good work!

Toyota makes a good truck, no doubt about that. I have been rockn my silverado for a long time and with maintance and such it has been insanely reliable and it is nearing 340000 km and still running strong

14.4k lbs from a diesel when an Ecoboost will tow nearly 13k? 😂
@Icutmetal5 жыл бұрын
Cody Warren Yep; do you understand that #1- any Ecoboost rated to tow that much can only do so in its most basic configuration, #2 can likely never reach that tow rating without vastly exceeding it’s rated payload capacity, and #3 weighs roughly 2,000lb less? No matter what you sheep believe, even the most powerful 1/2 ton on the market will deliver the same towing experience as any 3/4t+ truck- especially managing the load.

The lines on it are so bad. A box on wheels. Welcome back 1997. Don't forget to put chrome all over it... lol.. Chrome has been out for over a few decade now.... Wake up. No one wants a 3x5 foot flat chrome bumper and grill.... ok?? No one. This is what poor design looks like in case you were not sure. Front tow hooks look so stupid on the 4x4 models. They look like they are attached to the biggest plastic part.. lol. Someone told them oversized tow hooks must be cool and make the truck seem tuff... lol. Wrong. Some 70 year old sir design staffer though it sounded good....What a mess... The other brands are laughing at you.
@paulmansfield32846 жыл бұрын
The other brands are pure garbage!!!! GM products have way better styling and engineering than any Fix Or Repair Daily truck. Think I am wrong. Go check out the number of recalls Ford has done on their trucks in the last 2 years. Now that is poor engineering and just plain out F&*cking the consumer. And let's not even start talking about reliability and longevity. Any GM product will out last any Ford or Dodge truck out there. As the old saying goes F*&ked On Rotten Deal!!!! Oh yeah, Ford and Dodges are just plain UGLY!!!!

It's a constant source of consternation to everyone else in the world as to why Americans keep buying these truck things, especially as a family vehicle. What a wasteful society you have. Mind you, I did appreciate your somewhat tongue in cheek review.
@mrjixk7 жыл бұрын
Well then, we take our wastefulness with great pride! And I personally thought this was in line with Tom's other excellent reviews.
@Crosshead17 жыл бұрын
Kampfhund 'wastefulness with great pride'? No wonder your country is screwed and the rest of the world hates you. Btw, I was actually being complimentary of Tom's review. I always enjoy them.
@mrjixk7 жыл бұрын
Our country is doing pretty well considering the circumstances and not everyone hates us. And very well, most people (here) in the U.S. use it as a sarcastic or insulting remark, not the actual meaning of the word.
@DrivenCarReviews7 жыл бұрын
This is not a good example of the pickups Americans normally drive. And we tend to use our vehicles differently than others in the world. Yes, they are pressed into family duty, but often because people buy them first for work, hauling or towing (admittedly not always). I'm an efficiency fan so I understand where you're coming from. But it's best to buy the right tool for the job, and for some Americans, the pickup is it. And mind you, the rigs we tend to drive (standard 1500 F150s, Ram, and Silverado) are nearly as fuel efficient as many of the compact trucks popular around the world.
