Just got one of these things about 2 weeks ago on Craigslist for $950, so far have upgraded stem to a 45mm Wake, bars to Spank Spoon 785s, the grips to ODI lock ons, upgrading to a dropper seat post eventually, also swapped the level t brakes to Shimanos. Not a big fan of Sram brakes. Bought some Crankbrothers Stamp reps too. Solid bike thus far.

I'm trying to buy this bike from someone on offer up but is a Large would say this bike runs small for a medium? I've seen it at a trail the medium looked like it for small
@BMXandDIRTBIKES935 жыл бұрын
I would say it does run small for a medium. The reach is very short. I wish I would have got a large.

Climbs good in medium and firm mode on the rear shock or climb and trail mode depending on the shock you have

Someone on facebook is asking $2500 for this 2017 DB Mission Pro with the following upgrades: Heavily upgraded size Medium 2017 Diamondback Mission Pro Mountain Bike MSRP $4999 before upgrades. Fork: Kashima coated Fox Factory 36 Shock: Kashima coated Fox Factory FLOATX2 Dropper Post: Newly added Fox Transfer (MSRP $450) Wheelset/Rims: Race Face Carbon (MSRP $1000) Groupset/Brakes: Full Shimano XT It is a good bike I get it but why would someone pay $2500 for a five year old mtb while they could get a brand new 2022 full suspension mtb for the same price or less? Am I missing something??
@BMXandDIRTBIKES932 жыл бұрын
I'd say that price is some what reasonable. You won't find a new bike for $2500 with the high end Fox suspension (Kashima coated), carbon wheels and a mid range Shimano drivetrain.

@@BMXandDIRTBIKES93 still though the bike is 5 years old. I just can not justify the price for an old bike but thats just me. Everyone should vote for their own wallet. Just my personal opinion.

I was debating between the release and the mission. I figured I wanted more travel so I got the mission. Kinda wish I got the release but I still love the mission. The new Release Carbon 4C looks like a awesome deal full carbon for 3k.
@John-shreds7 жыл бұрын
Ur bike is more capable for sure. With the large jumps and drops you hit, the mission is for sure for u. Im looking into volume spacers because at 30% sag on my monarch, regular trail riding is looking like its almost bottoming out? i dont think that is normal. It feels really nice on trails though. Like a sports car. Im new to mountain biking so i wont be hitting 10 foot doubles for a while.
@BMXandDIRTBIKES937 жыл бұрын
John Traner you want to be using all the travel you have. Bottoming out on the bigger hits/jumps isn't a bad thing as long as it's not a harsh bottom out.
@John-shreds7 жыл бұрын
Ya Ive been researching a bit and i see that. It seems normal. Ill probably go to 25% sag and call it good.

I am currently trying to save up for this bike and have a 2016 kona lana'i with a bunch of upgrades. I am looking for more travel and a full sus because i am getting into park but dont want a full downhill bike. I don't do climbs that much but would you say this handles good on downhill. And how about jumps? I know it has 160 mm of travel in the fork which is gonna be a big upgrade compared to my 100 mm hardtail that gets beat to death. What is the travel in the rear shock? Let me know. Thanks.

I'm researching my first full-sus purchase and torn between many bikes, with this one the least expensive (I'm on a tight budget). I'm just concerned over how it might feel on climbs. I'm out of shape and not a young buck anymore, so I don't want to regret my purchase if climbing is way tougher than on my budget hardtail. Thoughts? I'm liking the Release 2 (if I can swing the extra $, but I also enjoy bombing big descents!
@BMXandDIRTBIKES936 жыл бұрын
If you want climbing and descending, I would totally go with the release.
@garrybunk6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the quick reply! So I take it that this bike would be noticeably harder to climb with than an XC type hardtail? I'm not doing long steep climbs (I just flat out won't) but if this bike makes slight climbs feel like steep climbs, forget it! What's making my decision so tough is that all the great bang for the buck bikes are "All Mountain /Enduro" with "Trail" bikes being significantly more money
@BMXandDIRTBIKES936 жыл бұрын
Garry Bunk it climbs decent when you put the shock in mid mode but the release would climb better the way the suspension is designed it has less pedal bob

And what is boost?? lol sorry I'm new to MTB 😆
@BMXandDIRTBIKES936 жыл бұрын
DonD512 boost is wider axles. So in the front boost is 15x110. The old standard for the front was 15x100. Boost for the back is 12x148. The old standard for the back was 12x142. The wider hub allows for a stronger wheel because of the spoke angles and wider tires.
@CowneloAlvaroid6 жыл бұрын
Man I'm debating on the DB Release 3 or this Mission pro. Do you know what's the widest tire size that'll fit on this Mission?
@BMXandDIRTBIKES936 жыл бұрын
DonD512 I don't know the exact number because each tire manufacturer measures them differently. You could probably have a 2.6 or 2.7 in the front. And maybe like a 2.5 in the back but I'm guessing.

F Fenno there are 2 holes on the bottom on the top tube but I don't see how a cage would fit with the shock there. You can put in the back top corner of the front triangle but you will have to zip tie one end to the seat tube.

Cuajo Panzon the rims come with tape from the factory and tubeless valves are also included.

What do u lubricate the linkage with?
@BMXandDIRTBIKES937 жыл бұрын
TriFlow wet lube. I use it on my chain as well. Works really good. It has PTFE which helps drive out water. I always lube it after washing the bike and cleaning the chain. Its also a good idea to take apart the rear linkage 1-2 a year and re grease all of the bearings.

Great job on the video, I watched it so many times over the past month it helped sell me on the bike. Along with others positive opinion of the bike, I like the fact that it has longer chain stays for controlled predicable love boat handling while bombing Oregon all mountain runs. I like the local connection, Diamondback is just up the road from me in Washington state. The frame has been time tested and the same since 2014 and has proved that it is built like a tank. The components have upgrade since 2014 to present as they have become available. I will be adding a dropper seat post. For the quality of bike with these components at this price $1,400.00 shipped, it was easy choice for me. The bike should be here 5/9/2018 just in time for the weekend.
