I find it hard to believe those are 2.5 to 3mm sails. My yacht sails are about 3mm.

Thanks for querying this, Charlie Spence. I note the reviewer measures thickness in mils of an inch, but the luff curve in mm. Nothing like mixing units to make things unclear 🤷🏼‍♂️

There is an ERROR in the manufacture of the Jib Boom where the Bowsie Jib line loops, the fitting slides and should be Fixed, and a check with other owners have all found they had same, and had to GLUE it fixed about 85mm from the Jib anchor point on the boom rod. Yes I purchased TWO DF65 v 6 Yachts. Both with same error. - GC - PRYC QLD - Later saw post below by Phil Burgess already mentioned.

Thanks for the great vid from another Canuck (I live in Winterpeg). I just ordered a DF65, and it is nice to see what is coming. Your vid was well thought out and easy to follow for an old RC tugboat captain like myself (my first real step into sailboats). It seems half of my model boat club (WMBC) is getting DF65 this winter as we finally have a deep enough pond for sailing deep keels. Keep up the good work.

Beautiful new boat DF65 V6, today I got it and start assembling But I fiend some issues : 1.Very unclear directions for Rigging Procedure? It would be very helpful to have a step by step video, please. 2. Battery Holder stick out of a compartment in any position I preferred battery in horizontal, on tap of the tray far from the baton water, position 3 How to provide watertight of this compartment and retaining easy access to change batteries and adjustments ??? Thanks

Ahhh... Rigging ... My most unfavorite thing about RC Sailboats lol. I wonder if I should develop a tool to help with tying on spacings etc. Re: Battery - most use the 850mah LiFe batteries and mount to side of keel box. It does have a performance advantage in terms of balance of boat too. You'll also find it will last for at least 3 hours.

I'm impressed. Thank you for your review. I am a long-time rc enthusiast (airplanes, trailtrucks and crawlers, buggies, etc) but never tried sailing. I am looking to get into this hobby as I have lots of lakes and ponds nearby (near the Finger Lakes). I was first looking at Kyosho but it appears for the same money this DF65 would be a much better choice. Am I correct and would this be a good first rc sailboat? Thank you again, John

Thanks for the comment. The DF65 is a great starter boat. You can definitely "hone" your skills sailing one and when you're ready to go faster :P ... there is the DFlt95 :)

I have my first boat built waiting for ice out on the local ponds .I just watch a video about sealing the keel box with silicone is this necessary ?

Welcome to the DF community. Great choice of boat too :) I would just build it as per the manual. Soil it... if there is a leak, then make do the repair. If not, just go with it. I've had mine since new and haven't done anything outside of the manual build. Happy Sailing

I enjoyed your walk thru and subbed. I was very active in late 80s with RC sailboating. My son is 14 and I’m considering returning and sharing this hobby with him. I’d like to mount a GoPro on this model, any suggestions for mounting it? *subbed to yr channel.

Thanks for the great videos Mr Wil. Do you still think it's necessary to glue/epoxy the eyelets on the deck of the V6?
@consumerwil
@consumerwil 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Scott, Thanks for the comment. For the New V6 I'd just check to see if the eyelets are loose. They have improved the build for the V6 so a lot of the issues like glue etc shouid have been fixed. There shouldn't be any need to re-glue the eyelets. (I haven't re-glued any on my personal boat).

Just wondering what is the easiest way to transport .I have a jeep with limited room any ideas would be appreciated.I just purchased two boats.
@consumerwil
@consumerwil 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Gary, I always transport my boats un-rigged. The boat usually lays flat or secured on a stand. I like to sandwich the sails with flat foam board with flexible plant ties holding the top and bottom of the mast and the booms. If travelling by air, I use the original box in a soft carrier bag.

I've been thinking about getting this years version 6 model as my first foray into RC sailboats, but am unsure if I should go for the more expensive radio option that this kit has. Short question is, could you tell me why would I want the FSi6 upgraded transmitter?
@consumerwil
@consumerwil 7 жыл бұрын
Great question Michael. The main reasons I would go for the $30 upgrade (assuming you buy the one without the radio, and pickup the FSi6) - built in telemetry (you can see the receiver battery voltage from the transmitter) and dual antenna receiver is more reliable with better range. Plus it gives you an extra 2 channels too.

Can I ask a question? What is better the force or the flits because I want to buy one
@consumerwil
@consumerwil 7 жыл бұрын
Its a great question... Is this your 1st RC Sailboat? Both are great boats. The Force is a 650 mm boat. The Flite is 950 mm. They both tune similar but the larger Flite is faster overall. If you plan to race, search out a local club and ask them if they are using any of those boats racing. I'd go with the majority for that. Otherwise, if you just want to sail around, the Flite is a great size. And if you just want to see if you'd like RC Sailing, then the Force at $200 RTR is a great choice.

Hi. Have you done a build video yet?
@consumerwil
@consumerwil 7 жыл бұрын
Hi, yes I'm working on it this week and should have something next week. (It's actually going to be really quick as a lot of the build is covered in the new manual. If you have a previous version, you can actually download the new v6 manual and go from there). In the build video I will be showing some of the things I do to make my boat operate smoothly and limit any run issues. Thanks for watching and subscribing :)

Hei. Love your videos - great support! I wondered whether you had got around to the V6 video mentioned here? i BOUGHT THE KIT FOR THE v5 (I think it must have been) and had read your build with the water/stress proofing of eyescrews and so on and so came the V6 (with your unpacking video) which looks so great - strengthened hull, better sails, and as far as I can see better insertion of eyescrews into the hull. Well I got a little windfall and have invested in a v6. So I am wondering how much extra work should be done on the v6? Can I drop the extra gluing of the eyescrews etc or are they still relevant? Thanks for any suggestions and anyway thanks for your videos of the earlier version - much learning for me there! Cheers!
