Dave I know what you mean by neighbors & loud exhaust! My 69 Camaro is loud & sometimes I would take it to go for coffee at 5am! It got me some commentary from the neighbors for sure. My Mustang isn't quite as loud but they mumble about that one too! I am going to be 60 in a few months but I still like aggressive exhaust!

@F-350 Guy I have been careful in recent months not to hit the gas too hard until I am a ways from the neighborhood. It seems to help a bit. On the Camaro I don't use the exhaust cutouts in residential areas either.

Hey David I need some advice.. Alright I know this is a long shot but any advice would be greatly appreciated, I have a 1998 Ford Ranger 3.0 V6. I was driving it down the interstate and it suddenly started shaking and misfiring extremely bad and I lost my power brakes. So I get the truck towed home drain the oil and drop the pan everything looks fine. (Had good oil pressure) I buy a compression checker and all cylinders have around 150 besides cylinder 5 its reading 0. So I pull the upper intake and such to get to the valve cover, pull the valve cover off and the push rod is bent (believe it's the intake valve) and not under the rocker arm. So I ask my uncle who had worked on engines most of his life and he told me to try just replacing the push rod. So I replace the push rod put everything back together and it's running exactly like before. Shut the truck off pull everything back apart and the push rod isn't bent, but in the process of tearing it back down I noticed the intake runner on the upper intake for cylinder 5 was really wet. So I look down into the lower intake it's also wet and around the cylinder 5 injector is a puddle of coolant. It might be something obvious but I just cant think of what it could be. So again a basic run down; No compression cylinder 5, no vacuum to brake booster, coolant in upper and lower intake and around injector. Any advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

As a ford diesel guy, I run straight pipe because where I live does not require me to smog my rig nor are there any sound restrictions. In the end, have better fuel mileage and if the exhaust is too loud, I forgot to turn up the tunez. :)

I am interested in what the decibel level is inside the cab when the windows are shut. I live in the north and don't ride around with the windows down very much. I am getting ready to delete my truck and am on the fence of what direction I am going with the exhaust. I don't want to get an exhaust and get droned out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Should have the Decimeter sitting on a chair in the driveway so it can read the loudness as you accelerate by your house at a distance, Likely the pipe vs. the muffler will be miles apart. Looks like minus 20 db is with the muffler inside the cab.

Hey bud a little of topic here but I thought I’d let you know that engineered diesel makes a reroute kit for your cp4 pump so you can’t contaminate your injectors if there’s a failure. Save you thousands for 360 dollar kit

In California I think it 8” away from the tip and at around 45 degree angle. Maybe the FD might have passed the idle.

It's 20"away at a 45 degree angle and at the same height as the exhaust. They test at idle and at 2500 RPM.

Your testing involved a lot of wind noise the stock is much quieter than your meter shows your getting a lot of road and wind noise

Hmmm so since the GVWR of an average f350 super duty is about 7500 and the according CA law the cut off GVWR is anything under 6000 (except for motorcycles) can be "sited" being over 95 dbs... So what CA is telling me is i should buy a 350 super duty and straight pipe the Fk out of it lmao

The little difference in the straight pipe and the muffler isn't really worth the money. It's like a goodwill version of a straight pipe lol. Ya know like 5 decibels aint gonna make your neighbors love the sound in the morning lol, that's not much of a difference. Just my two cents though Dave, I'd leave the straight pipe on. But it's your build Itll sound great either way brother!

wow, your truck is loud as shit. my Nova was like 99dB with the downpipe right off the turbo (5.3 LS engine) pointed at the ground. then 85dB with cheap magnaflow knockoff muffler just exited out the side... both readings taken standing back from the car about 2 feet. my daily G8 (6.0L w/magnaflow exaust, lth, cam, etc) was 84 on cold start (back about 10ft), then idles at about 75... im still getting way to much amusement out of $15 stupid amazon purchase lol.
