chris after watching you for 4 years i now have a ton of killer knives that are all different in their own way and i think they are great and my friends agree, i have loaned them out to guys going on a week end canoe trip to a 2 week wilderness canada canoe trip. when i was a young man i got a allowance of 2$ the first place i went was the army surplus store and i would spend most of it on knives, you can imagine the quality of my purchases but at least i had knives. i am 68 now and for some reason i cant get out of the becker mode i know you are a jesica guy but bk2 is my favorite of 15 beckers, any way thanks for guiding me to spend money on something worth while

In a way you did choose a knife for me, well you and Brian at SOP. It was by watching your recommendations that I chose it. You reviewed the SCHF16 and so did he, both of you favorably. I don't need a "survival knife" or a "one tool option" for EDC, I'm going to and from work mostly and opening boxes is the heaviest duty my EDC knife ever gets. I was looking for something small enough to fit in my pocket without showing but big and sturdy enough to actually use and... I do not like folders very much. The 16 fits the bill perfectly for me and I've liked it so much I bought another one just in case I lose the first one. On that note... Did you ever strip the coating off of it? You mentioned in your video that you were going to and I've been wondering how that went.

You're right personal preference is personal preference but I think it's interesting that you go back and forth between knife blades with a lot of sweep and straight bladed knives.

Thank you. I put in a request for the Terava Puukko when it becomes available. Seems to be an upgrade from the Moras that I own. Will not be able to afford the first knife you showed. However, I understood the design upon first viewing. Will definitively acquire when I win the lottery. My favorites - 1. the underrated, virtually unknown Ontario TFI; 2. the discontinued ZT 0170; 3. the Fallkniven F!; 4. the modern incarnation of the old Ontario 499 in modern materials. Currently ordering a Scrapyard. I decided that I wanted a blade between 5 and under 6 inches. Bigger? I probably wouldn't carry it until after shtf. Smaller? Gives up performance. The F1, within the ugly factory sheath, fits perfectly into a businessman's front suit pants pocket! The TFI? An all around survival knife - good for the car. I gave one to my son to keep in his car as well. Have a few for shtf. Modern incarnation of the 499? I accept the testimony of the USAF survival instructor that he saw class after survival class/thousands of uses without the knife failing. Fairly easy to sharpen to a sharpness I desire. The rubberized top restraint can be sawed off with a hacksaw, making the knife more user friendly. It was designed to cut aircraft hulls and can be modified.

For me, custom knives costing more than $300 are Collectables and personally I wouldn’t use them... because there are too many under $200 that will last a lifetime and work better than fine! So I appreciate your input on less expensive knifes! It’s a personal thing!

Is that Finnish knife you showed available from any source other than their website. The shipping is very reasonable to the US, but after my bank charges me a ridiculously huge fee for buying something in euros it won't really be a "budget" option for me anymore. I own a Morakniv LMF, so I know I like that blade shape and grind. If I can find a site that sells the jaakari puukko in US dollars I would consider buying one.

@brettsteele73867 жыл бұрын
You are correct when it comes to your knives. I have never heard anything but good stuff about your designs. Sense your so good at designing knives I am curious about what you would consider a good knife. You know your stuff when it comes to knife design or the top names in knife making wouldn't make your knives. Maybe you could pick your top 5 that you did not design and say what is good about them and why they aren't as good as the Jessmuk or Jess-X or the Bushbat, JX3, JX6.and so on. Not many people out there in KZbin land think like you do when it comes to knives.

everyone is so different when it comes to blades. personally I am not a fan of fero rods on my knife sheths it just not Bushcraft Imho. the only knife I liked that you showed was that mora knock off. the other blades have way to much belly imho. I'm not putting down. your knives I am a fan of LT. It just goes to show how different everyone is. I like a 4 to 5 inch blade I prefer 01 or high carbon vs a super steel 3v and 1/8 or thinner blade. scandi is great but nothing wrong with a sabre grind with secondary bevel. my absolute favorite knife design is probably a adventure sworn mountaneer and if I had to go with only 1 tool I would probably pick matt grahms primitive Sequoia knife with the cave art on it.
