Thank you for reviewing the S model escape. I think the base model looks nicer than the Se and Titanium because it doesn't have that cheap looking fake silver kick plate on the rear of the vehicle. This is one of the best vehicle reviews I've seen. You must be a great salesman.

Great review buddy! I just bought this used 13k miles, I love mine! Not a fast truck , but I'm 52 no need . Great smooth quiet ride, super on gas , and comfortable .

Sure it isn't a turbo, and it isn't offered with AWD, but for the features you get for the money you pay for it (SYNC, power windows and locks, keyless entry, and a six-speaker stereo) it's an okay deal.

My sister bought a eco boost escape the first year the new model came out, it was a nice upgrade from her older escape but it wasn't reliable, but I liked the styling it seemed nice,

I bought a 2016 SE. It was heavily discounted. It is a great SUV. Much more affordable than the Japanese brands. And easy to park. It came with the 2.5. But the power is all right. The car zips around through traffic. And your right about the women thing. Guys if you want a car that women look at buy this. I catch a lot of women checking the car out.

@@adaml2932 sold it. gas mileage wasn't that good. And there were reports of the engine block cracking between cylinders 2 and 3.

LOL yes it's a metallic brown color, sometimes referred to as "copper" or "bronze". I just bought an S just for the simpler, more durable 2.5L NON ECO BOOST engine.

The Escape being a base model has a good many features on it and the fit and finished looked pretty good. I was surprised that it had pushbutton climate controls instead of knobs. Thanks for the video.

They give us base S model Escapes for work. My current one is a '16. Its not bad at all. Sure feels slow after driving our personal one with the 1.6 ecoboost though.

I don't agree; the new grille just does not go with the rest of the vehicle. I much prefer the look of the older model.

I like both but I think the new grille works better on the design. Black works all day long for grille/ wheels, trim, Seats and dash (with light coloured head lining trim)

You forgot to mention that there are two inches to the right of the gas peddle that has been added for greater foot/leg freedom due to the center console revision.

Great review...but you only included a very very brief look/review of the engine bay. I test-drove an exact replica of this car in Virginia last night...I find that about half of the engine appears buried under the dash. Difficult to even access the oil cap and dipstick. The interior-compartment filter/cowl covers a lot of the engine. A battery change seems like a nightmare. I really like the car, but this seems like a deal-breaker to me.

My 2014 S has the same engine with the battery in the same spot,just for reference,I took to the task of timing a make believe battery replacement,start to finish,all steps involved,30 min.not hard at all.yes ,more involved,just not hard

The Canyon Titanium with the sport package is the one I will purchase eventually.. The panoramic roof is a definite, I have it in my Edge. I do like 2017 Escape a lot👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾😀😀😀

Does the front passenger seat fold down like the back seats ? Currently driving a 2008 jeep compass with the front passenger seat folds down which has been great for longer items that have been in my vehicle

Like that it does not have a CVT transmission. Seems to be a good car for the money. The edge seems to be better since it is a fusion platform.

I just bought mine Friday! 2017 SE Ecoboost with 98,000 miles in 2023. Exact same color. Only difference is mine jas different rims, my fav ones. I dont like the ones on this one lol I thought i was going to hate the color but when I saw it in person its beautiful & i just fell in love with it! Its different thats for sure & it looks great! I pick it up tomorrow after the dealership I bought it from washes, waxes & does a complete detail on it no extra cost & even filling the gas tank up for me! They were asking $13,500 for it & I negotiated until I got it down to $10,000! That includes taxes & everything, out the door! When I offered it to him at first on the lot he turned it down so I left & told him I was on my way to Dodge to look at other options bc I had a friend that worked there. Not even 5 mins later he called me saying he would accept my offer if I came back & did the deal that same day. At first I was going to say no bc I didnt like how he rejected it & had me leave until he decided to change his mind. But I didnt want to be hard headed & turn it down just due to that reason. So I went back & bought it. Im extremely happy with my purchase!

You can get a base Forester, which will be more reliable and more enjoyable, safer, hold it's value better, and be all around nicer.. for about 21k. You can get a nice 6 speed manual or a nice CVT, too. Our CVT get's 35 mpg and it drives more like a well buttoned sports sedan than a 4WD SUV. It has the traction for what people use them for.

Okay well I like this video but if you buy the bells and whistles the trade-off is a less reliable and less durable engine. Because direct injection and turbo charging an engine is proven less reliable. I have make sure or at least attempted to not buy a car that is direct injection or turbocharged or a combination of both.

I prefer steel wheels all day long because less likely to crack or damage and you could fit a whole array of different wheeltrims inexpensively and if they get damaged, cheaper to replace. Who really looks at your everyday run about car and stands staring at wheels? Also found 18inch to be largest size to give best balance between handling and ride and smaller wheel gives less risk of kerb damage. 19s or 20s seem like a bad idea.

Each has it's advantages and disadvantages. Steel wheels rust and are heavier. If you rub a curb with a steel wheel and damage a hubcap, a factory hubcap will cost about $50. if you rub a curb with an aluminum wheel and get curb rash, it may cost more to repair. I prefer aluminum wheels. lighter weight, better brake cooling. I prefer painted ones as the finish on clear coated ones don't tolerate winter road salt as well. To crack an aluminum wheel you would really have to do a hard impact which would also damage a steel wheel also. 18's are the best all around for performance on most cars. 19's and above you are adding weight and decreasing gas mileage. On the Escape, 19's are over kill. The difference between the 17" and 18" tires on the Escape is only 5mm of sidewall height. 235/55-17 vs. 235/50-18 so the performance difference will be negligible. The 2020 Escapes have all increased side wall heights. Now the 19" wheel uses a 225/55-19 size tire. I'm guessing to help give it a softer ride. @@waltchan The Escape FWD S is about 600 lbs heavier than my 2012 Focus hatchback was. In my 2018 Escape S, I get 24-28 in mixed city/hwy driving depending on how heavy the traffic is, and on the interstate (not stuck in commuter bumper to bumper traffic) I get 31-32 mpg at about 65-70 mph. Hardly a gas guzzler.
