2017 Holden Trailblazer review | 4X4 Australia

I have a 2018 model and I'm generally happy with it; I really don't like the transmission braking that the reviewer mentioned (and nor do a lot of other people according to the posts I've read in Colorado/Trailblazer forums) 'Grade Braking' Holden call it, it sounds awful, like the engine is going to explode! I don't do much heavy towing so I've asked my service centre if they can disable it with their computer or something when the car goes in for its next service. They haven't given me a definite answer about whether they can or not but some people in the forums are saying they've had theirs disabled so fingers crossed... The American Trailblazers have a button on the end of one of the stalks on the steering column that turns this 'feature' on an off which I think is a great idea. The other thing that could be a bit better is the seats, they are very firm almost to the point of being uncomfortable. I'm thinking about getting some gel seat covers or something to try and make them a bit softer on longer drives. Otherwise, I like the look of the car, it is nice enough to drive and pretty good on fuel - it isn't unusual to see 6 point something litres per hundred on the trip computer which is pretty good for a full size four wheel drive. I haven't done any off road driving with it yet but I'm sure it will be more than capable of anything that I'm likely to want to try.

It does have a rear auto locker that locks when if feels one of the wheels in the rear slip

@@niknak-7206 No, unfortunately it doesn't; I have the MY18 model and it/they rely on electronic traction control to brake a spinning/slipping wheel, not a Diff. Lock. You can fit an aftermarket e-locker to them if you really need the extra off road ability and maybe Lokka will do an auto locking diff for them one day but from the factory it's just Traction Control. As the reviewer said though, it is probably capable enough for what most people will want to do with it... I've had mine for a few months now and I'm pretty happy with it.

how can you call the everest a front runner of the "ute based wagons" when insurance companies won't even insure it off road with the MA rating and there are even talks about a class action lawsuit against Ford for this reason. you also stay the trailblazer is at the back end of the field, then compare it to the MUX and fortunner I normally agree with your reviews and you guys are usually spot on but the information in this review just seams to go against everything anybody who has looked at new model wagons and duel cab utes have come to accept as fact through research and test drives.

rockyN rolling they said the colorado 7 is a bad wagon but the new trailblazer is a big improvement. Probably behind the everest now.

It's only got road tyres fitted so it's obviously not going to perform as good off road. They should test these vehicle types with all-terrains.

WTF you guys get this & all we get are crappy FWD based cuv's geared to women. we get a diesel option on them now but still. btw trailblazer was a Chevy suv in the U.S. from 2002-09

yes but the chevy trailblazer has been sold in many other countries from 2012 with the same front as the colorado7.

576575s the 2017 Chevy Equinox end GMC Terrain have 4cyl diesel option now but it's not the 2.8 it's a smaller 4cyl & sadly they put out less torque.
