As someone who lives near Mansfield I have many neighbours who swear by their Suzuki vehicles...they never seemed to get bogged in winter due to the light weight of the vehicle! You are all probably too young to remember but Suzuki made a Ute!! Small but very practical..a mate of mine had one and he fed out square bales of lucerne hay in it during winter..and again never got bogged! I own a Navara STX (2017) which came with the standard Toyo road tyres and will soon be spending some money on upgrading the ute for a trip around Australia and again will be fitting Toyo tyres with off road capability...love the Navara which I still reckon is under rated for its off road capabilities! Great stuff !!

You guys are driving way to slow up the steep sections so you are putting undue stress on the vehicles and chewing up the track. Try 2nd low range and a little bit more momentum with an even throttle to keep the car moving and dodge loose sections as much as possible driving on the solid rock will give you better traction.

I’ve got a jungle green Jimny too.. The car is an absolute dream, Who owns the Jimny in this video.. is it a loan from Suzuki? I’ve got Bf Goodrich’s on mine already, anything in particular you would say the Jimny could’ve benefited from in the high country? Looking to head up when my bulbar and winch is fitted in a few weeks.. just need to get some winter camping gear too.

You lower all 3 vehicles pressures to 16 psi, then wonder why the Jimny struggles with traction?! The Jimny weighs half what the others do, so tyre pressures should be much lower. I have good results off road with the Jimny's tyres at 10psi.

Like the video, but I have an issue with setting up camp under what is clearly dead wood. In fact there's on branch there that's clearly ready to come down right on the camp. Probably lucky the wind waited till the morning to blow. People. Never ever set up camp under trees with dead wood in the top. They're no called widow makers for nothing. Set your swags and fires in the clearing away from the dead wood. Please yourself about where you park the car, but if it's undrivable because of trees falling on it you might have a long walk out. Blue Rag is a ways from the Dargo road.

It's great seeing you guys getting out in the Aussie bush. But seriously. Taking on tracks like Sth Basalt Knob with HT tyres, no recovery points, no winch is fair dinkum asking for trouble and sending a really bad message for those starting out in the 4wd life. Sth Basalt Knob Tk would be one of the top 5 nasties tracks in that Dargo area, and to drive and film it in with the 4wd's you had ,is so dangerous. You lost me well before the end of that video.

Lowering the tyre pressure in the Jimny "will give us a nice wide tread pattern". Showing a lack of 4wd knowledge there. Lower pressures increases the length of the contact area not the width.
@vids9405 жыл бұрын
When tyre pressures are lowered, the tread pattern is both lengthened AND widened, which is why lowering tyre pressures is bad for the side wall of the tyre.
@scottmcnamara24585 жыл бұрын
@@vids940 not true. The tread width of the tyre is fixed. It would have to stretch to become wider. The only way to get a wider contact patch is if the side wall is contacting the ground and if that's happening then the tyre won't last long.
@vids9405 жыл бұрын
@@scottmcnamara2458 so you're saying a deflated tyre will grow zero percent in width? Ok... I'm talking about the entirety of the tyre, not just the tread
@scottmcnamara24585 жыл бұрын
@@vids940 The tread is the part you want to be driving on so it is the thing that is relevant. As the tyre is deflated the sidewall will bag out so the tyre looks wider, but as I said before you don't want to be driving on the sidewalls. My original comment spoke about the length v width of the contact area not whether a deflated tyre is wider. If the contact area has become wider then it is more that the tread making contact with the dirt and you'll end up with a shredded side wall.
