2017 Honda Pilot head unit in 2016 Honda Pilot

I know this is an old video, but thinking maybe some new insights have been found out. I just got a 2016 Honda Pilot Touring edition, VERY disappointed with the stock current stock radio. It really sucks. I even rooted it.. and have other apps installed. Any suggestions in 2024? What's the highest compatible model I could swap it out with? Is there a chart , a website that gives compatibility, etc. ? I don't want to lose compatibility like mirror camera, etc..

Cool video we just got a 2016 pilot but sadly learned CarPlay would be in the next 2017 model anyone know how you would be able to get carpal on the 2016 model? Did you switch out unit or did you find a software update, any tips would be awesome thank you!

you can either root your head unit and install a car play dongle, or replace the 2016 head unit with a 2017 head unit.

I swapped my united and called the next day, give Honda my VIN and the new serial number for the Clarion unit, and the lady has me enter the first of three PIN numbers. I enter the first pin and the unit says incorrect code/pin and then goes blank. She has me restart the vehicle a couple times, tried to have me run the diagnostic combo and had me remove the battery. Nothing works besides the splash screen starting and then going to a blank screen. (Camera systems still work?). Any fixes?

I own a 2017 Honda pilot LX trim. Been looking upgrade my OEM radio head unit. Did you also have a LX trim model or was this an EX being upgraded to an EX-L radio head unit?

Hey man I have a 2016 pilot, I got a 2017 radio. Put it in, but the USB won’t connect, it says no device connected. Does something need to be swapped out?

Shouldnt be an issue. EX and EXL uses the same head unit. Touring and Elite are slight audio software differences due to the amp and number speakers.

Hi , Anekin does the Stock GPS work fine after swap out. I know this was covered in the forum but I have not been there for a few years since I bought my pilot end of 2015. I kind of want Andriod auto but not if there are issues . I like the nav that it came with.Also I noticed that your Radio said Monterey Bay Aquarium. I grew up there in the 1975-94. Miss that place. Anyways if you can answer this that would be great.Thanks brother.

John Woods yes stock gps still works. Installed wade when I don’t feel like connecting my iPhone. I have an iPhone and when connected the car uses the iphones gps and mic for CarPlay.

Naveen Kumar Meeda the laws on warranty’s state that the only way a warranty can be voided is if the modification caused the issue
