There is no "special" tool needed. And you do not pop off (remove) the yellow plastic piece. See the following link i.imgur.com/AnxCUTB.jpg Top picture - press the tab in. Bottom picture - press and hold it in while working the connector off the tank. To re-install just push the connector until you hear it click.

Mine wasn’t able to be worked off by just popping it up. I had to completely remove it before it released. Maybe just a bad part installed from factory.

@@ArchesMechanic You don't pop it up. See picture link in my post...top picture press the tab sideways like the horizontal arrow shows. Then on the bottom picture...press fitting in like the vertical arrow and hold it in while sliding the hose/connector off like horizontal arrow.

It doesn't have a carburetor. It's efi.

Hey Dude! Thanks for the video! Do you know where to locate the thermal fan switch on the 17 rebel 300? The wire comes up from the fan under the tank but I lose it from there. My fan stopped working and the fuse is fine so I heard this was the next most likely culprit. Thanks in advance!

Arch, Can the fuel tank be removed from the Rebel with out fooling with the quick disconnect gadget? I am wondering if the fuel hose can just be slipped off? My hands are not very agile and I don't think I can unsnap the quick disconnect....

Ken Gilgore there’s some bolts on the underside but once you remove those I don’t know if there is a gasket or silicone to keep the seal

Hey, I dented my tank so I was looking to replace it with a new one one. How does the pump assembly come out? Can I remove the just the actually tank and swap it with everything connected or do I have to remove the pump assembly and swap everything over off the bike?

Franke Dechent I’m sure you can order them with the pump and all that installed but when you order a new tank it will come barebones. Everything will have to be swapped

If you have the 300 you can reach it easy. With the 500 you can still reach them without removing the tank but it’s difficult to do so.

Is it the same to put I back on? Because I found that it was very difficult to put that little yellow plastic piece back on to the fuel hose, it didn’t seem that necessary so I didn’t put it back into place. My bike isn’t losing gas or anything just need to know if that little safety feature is that big of a deal or not

Mason Moad it’s a secondary safety and it’s a pain the ass! I finally got it in but it took me a while

@@ArchesMechanic I didn't reinstall the secondary safety mechanism due to the fact that I accidently broke it. luckily I reinstalled everything else correctly and have the fuel line in nice and snug. no issues so far after riding it for about 300 miles (knock on wood)

Please post a video on how to change the spark plug on a rebel 500. Rebel 300 was easy because there is enough open space. Rebel 500 has no space so i guess the fuel tank needs to be removed first. Not sure. Please show us how to do it.

If you see this man I just got a 500 2017 and the guy I got it from just had the ignition coils sitting on top of the engine I can’t find a single thing online on where exactly both coils are supposed to go cause it’s Deff not on the motor. 🤣😑
