The first 5K miles are behind me now. Looking forward to riding this winter when the ground will be soft and provide some traction - or a different kind of traction

Nice video, i ordererd my 2018 Enduro today. Supermotard was sold out/resererved long ago. But i believe Enduro is a nice blend from both worlds. And when the winter comes i can just put some spikes in my tires and drive the whole year through if i want to :)

it may be a heavey dirt bike, but I bet its way better off road than a 1200gs or 1190. I love the videos thanks for sharing! this will be my next bike for sure.

Clark Rupp no doubt man. I bought the 1190 after watching all the videos of Chris birch wheelie off road an take on serous trails. Thinking it would be this adventure bike! But man it's just down right dangerous off road. An I'm a pretty good rider. The 1190 can do a lot but it's not fun. Even this new 790 that's coming out I think people will be disappointed.

I love the video... Especially the shout out to the little ones. I just bought a KTM 690 E R. It's al little different but similar in many ways. Thank for posting. Subbed.

On paper, the 690 ER is the same as my 625 SXC. Same HP, weight, etc. Bit more fuel. Are the annoyances people talk about with the 690 real annoyances? It's one reason I'm looking at the Husky.
@jdjdr26 жыл бұрын
J P really? The 690 has 67 hp while the 625 is not even half that. Completely different bikes. The 701 and 690 are almost identical aside from the 2017 701 getting a small bump in power.
@jaypuck69126 жыл бұрын
Where are you getting that info? This website says 60.3 HP. www.motorcyclistonline.com/2004-ktm-625-sxc This website says 54.4. www.mbike.com/ktm/625-sxc/2004 My buddy who used to race YZ450s thought it was about 70 HP when he rode it, and he had to buy one weeks after I bought mine. I think you are looking at European specs, and we know a lot of motorcycles are buffed in Europe to pass their government-rules-all mandates.
@jaypuck69126 жыл бұрын
Also, people don't seem to like the fuel cap allowing debris to fall into the tank of the 690. Is the Husky 701 the same? I haven't looked at it.

Ive been riding a 690 Enduro r since 2014. You will become more accustomed to it in time. I respectfully suggest that lowering the bike is the worst thing you could have done for it handling. I’m 5’10” and I can manage the height with the lower seat concepts option. The lowering link completely ruins the handling characteristic of the bike. I noticed you were bottoming out over the woops that simply proves you need to go much stiffer and back to stock ride height. When confident/competent you can ride a 690 like a dirt bike. You have a magnificent motorcycle work out your suspension and you will go part way to realising its capabilities.

Great video. I am finally considering getting one after years in production. Btw, are you still doing tours in CA?
@clarkrupp Жыл бұрын
I started 3 busineeses at the same time. The off road tour didn't get any traction - just as well.... the forest trails just get hammered by the storms and the forest service does nothing. I've got a group of 35 guys I ride with. The 701 burned up in my toy hauler when it was a year old. Replaced it with a 501 and 2021 got a 300 Beta as well. The business that really took off is V12icpack.com If you're every out this way I know a couple thousand miles worth of trails !

I found this video again 2 years later....guess what I bought several months ago even after my negative comments? You got it this same basic motorcycle except in orange (2020enduroR) It is heavy but tons of fun....I did drop it a few time times during the learning curve with a tall bike...idk I still like it even though I have spent quite a bit to make it more likable.....Wings can, ABS dongle, CF skid plate, got RID of fragile turn signals and put Chinese cheap tiny LED units and also swapped out the relay to an adjustable rate, Lets see oh and I put in the "fuel dongle" which is just deal needed to plug in place of the O2 sensor...Oh and a Twin AIr air eleaner element.....last thing I did was Io install a Perun clone (identical from AliExpress) rear rack and also I bought a Long Haul 5 Liter fuel can with quick mount in case I need more fuel range ever.....I'm oh yeah and I installed HUGE FastWay clone foot pegs (Nice Nice CNC brand) and also an OEM KTM shorty clutch lever I think from the 500 EXC hmm....only other thing I guess is a pair of small aux lights mounted to Cycra Handguards on the same bolt the Cycra Handlebar clamp Handguards mount to.....really a stout setup I bet the strength of the bars is doubled now! I also have the untrained Seat Concept seat but honestly I never use it ....maybe if I do a really long run idk...I like the sleeker stock seat otherwis

@clarkrupp4 жыл бұрын
Same old question..... what are you going to use it for ? I tried to use it as a real dirt bike substitute and got it as dirt oriented as possible. Worked well until it was a true single track and then just too heavy. Your height will help. You can go stupid fast on crappy twisty asphalt roads where physics keeps the speed below 70 mph. You may see other video where the 701 got burned up in my toy hauler and I replaced it with the 50. Love the 501 but the 701 was better, by far when on real roads. The 501 is a 90/10 - dirt/asphalt. The 701 is a 70/30 - dirt/asphalt. I was looking at a 1290 as 10/90 but opted for a 1400 Concours 0/100 - wife said she would get on the back of the KTM

@clarkrupp4 жыл бұрын
The gas issue is a nuisance. 3.1 gallons as I recall and it was really hard not to whack the throttle on this bike. I think 117 miles was about it. There is a rev limiter if you go to high with the revs but there's no tach on real dirt bike either so yes, you can adjust easily.

Great videos, a concern with the 701 is "false neutrals" in the gearbox. Have you had any experience of this on your bike ?
@clarkrupp6 жыл бұрын
percyc123 zero false neutrals .... however.....! The engine load on the main shaft cannot be overcome with throttle on or quick throttle chops from 1-2 or 2-3 unless the clutch is used. In slow stuff with forest debris the shift throw is so short that slight incidental contact, either up or down will cause unplanned shifts - even slight knocks with my boots will yield up and down shifts - really annoying.....

That thing seems way too unwieldy in comparison to a 450 for me. Nice torque, but I can't imagine too many upsides to this.
@clarkrupp6 жыл бұрын
450's are generally true dirt bikes. You have to consider this beast as a type of hybrid neither dirt bike nor typical dual sport bike. Its sits right in the middle of these two genres bringing them ever more closer together.
@FuzedBox6 жыл бұрын
That's a great way to put it. I guess if it's street legal out of the box, it'd be a much nicer choice than say, an XR or KLR 650 for offroad purposes. Still seems heavy as hell through corners though; I can practically feel the weight just by watching your video.

Question Clark, looks like your ABS light flashes, mine stays on all the time, I do have the Dongle installed.
@clarkrupp6 жыл бұрын
Seems to me there was a set up on the dongle. I did it so the front is still activated but the rear is disengaged. Think maybe I held the button down for 3 seconds....just looked at the instructions - that was it. You're in ABS mode 2 which has front and rear deactivated. It also says that after the ignition has been turned on/off it automatically goes to ABS 1 and the light will flash every 5 seconds. Do you have the info sheet that came with the dongle ?
@advmotonut80156 жыл бұрын
Clark Rupp I don't have the instructions, but I will look them up, Thanks.
@clarkrupp6 жыл бұрын
And I quote... The HQV dongle function is automatically activated when the dongle is connected ABS mode 1 - light flashes every 5 seconds. The ABS is active on the front wheel only. The rear wheel can lock at any time. Press the ABS button for @ 3 seconds to switch between the two ABS modes ABS mode 2 - lamp glows constantly ABS function is switched off. The front wheel and rear wheel can lock at any time with ABS controlling After the ABS self test the vehicle must be moved several meters After the ignition is switched off and on, the vehicle atuomatically changes to ABS mode 1 if the dongle is connected. Sounds like you're pressing buttons after the ignition gets turned on ? I never touch mine and it does automatically go to ABS 1 mode.
