2017 Jeep Compass
This Compact SUV Jeep is all-new with handsome square jawed good-looks. The Limited and Trail Hawk versions were tested. Our first impression was the new look and optional black roof gave it a sportier look. This Jeep was designed for the global market for all weather conditions.
Limited:
New larger dual pain sunroof, LED lights,
19" wheels
Trail Hawk - is designed as an off-road vehicle. More aggressive 17" off road tires and suspension settings. No bright work but replaced with black and bright red recovery hooks. Better geometry for off roadability. Improved crawl ratio wit the 9-speed automatic. Rock mode adjusts suspension, throttle and handling.
4- interior color options, cloth or leather seat options
Engine:
2.4L Tiger Shark multi-air engine with 180hp
6-speed manual (24mpg)
6-speed auto (25 mpg combined)
9-speed auto (25 combined)
Start / stop standard on automatic transmissions.
4 modes transmission: auto, 4x4, sand and mud.
Technology - U Connect system with Android Auto and Apple Car Play in the 8.4" or optional 5" & 7" screens. Blind spot detection, forward warning, park sensors, keyless entry, active cruise control. Back up camera with cross traffic alert. Active safety package available too.
In dealers in April 2017.
Pricing:
Sport $20,995
Trail Hawk $28,995
Limited $28,995
Bottom Lime - the all new design is improved inside and out, great fuel economy, more refined ride comfort on and off road. More technology that we want.

You can adjust the warning audio level in the vehicle settings. Plus it's sensitivity can be changed.

I just picked up the new Compass. God damn I wish it had a V6 option. Don't get me wrong I love it as it sits but if we had the option for a V6 engine the Compass would dominate everything in its category in my opinion.

Blind spot noise is annoying on the Grand Cherokee too but you have to disable it in the settings on the U connect.

Paul, I agree with you on Jeep's role in FCA. Jeep and Ram Trucks are the most important brands to FCA.
@1guyin10
@1guyin10 7 жыл бұрын
Alfa Romeo is important because it and Jeep are the two truly global brands and it's success plays a key role in making sure the Italian factories are not sitting idle. (those will get expensive when the current government program runs out) That said, Ram is being slowly rolled out in other countries and there seems to be a movement within FCA to make it their global truck brand. That would give FCA three distinct product lines that are globally capable of generating very good revenue. The biggest holdback is that FCA doesn't have the money they need to put into making all that work.

Yes, but we all know that different four-cylinder engines are quicker than some and more pokey than others😊

I haven't driven one yet, but they seem to have gotten the Compass just about right. The only thing missing is the upcoming Hurricane turbo 4.
@afcgeo882
@afcgeo882 7 жыл бұрын
I totally agree. Almost every competitor has a solid 2 liter turbo or somewhere there. It gets the low RPM ooph and keeps the MPG down. However, it's crucial that it can be driven on 87 fuel every day.

I bought a 2018 compass trailhawk 4 weeks ago. 1700 miles on it. I thought it would look cool with some all terrain tires on it. Its hard to believe jeep made a "trail rated" suv with a tire size that you can NOT get all terrain tires in. WTF???

+Lisa Williams We have reviewed the Jeep Cherokee. Fun to drive on and off road. Look for incentives. Don't pay retail.

Also don't pay for a 4 cylinder because the car is even heavier than the Compass and the resulting fuel economy is horrific.

Great video, do you guys think the Compass is better than a Cherokee with the 2.4? They're so close in size.
@afcgeo882
@afcgeo882 7 жыл бұрын
There's a weight difference, which is why the Compass wasn't offered with the 6. The Cherokee is quite a bit bigger and much heavier.
@kc5077
@kc5077 7 жыл бұрын
I agree the Cherokee is heavier, interestingly Jeep's specs say the Compass has 126.3 sq.ft interior passenger volume and the Cherokee has 103.4 sq.ft. So I think anyone considering a 4 cylinder Cherokee should really look at the new Compass.

so the big question is.... can it go uphill? or is this another one of those "little engine that could-NOT" when it comes to uphill power because they only decided to put a tiny 2.4 I4 into it... GRANTED, it looks great, i love that they included the "now mainstream LED headlights and taillights" but its power SUCKS.

It'll go up hill, but not quickly. Still very underpowered. A diesel is available in most countries, making this a good off-road option and a 2.0 Turbo is promised in the near future.
