2017 Kia Sportage SX AWD Turbo Test Drive Video Review *Redesigned*

www.autobytel.c... The Kia Sportage has been redesigned both inside and out for the 2017 model year. Just when you thought all crossovers have descended into a sea of sameness; in strolls the new Sportage with a face like nothing we have seen thus far. Kia’s design has taken a leap for the better with a more luxurious interior. There are 3 levels of trim starting with the base LX FWD model that costs $22,990 up to the SX Turbo AWD model that costs $34,000.
Under the hood if this SX model is a 2.0 liter turbocharged GDi that makes 240 horsepower and 260 lb-ft. of torque. Fuel economy for the turbo AWD model is 20 MPG in the city and 23 MPH on the highway.
Kia has earned a reputation over the years of bold styling choices. The all new Sportage is evidence of that. This fun to drive crossover is chalked full of technology.
Other crossovers in this category include the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, Ford Escape, Chevrolet Equinox, Mazda CX-5, and the Hyundai Tucson.

Level of refinement? 17 Sportage SX has interior that is nicer than RDX, with more amenities and better laid out controls. Not saying RDX isn't a nice car, but it's not the end-all, supreme vehicle you're making it out to be. Sorry.

Ghostlore refinement - a highly developed state of perfection; having a flawless or impeccable quality. First of all; More amenities (?), and better laid out controls(?!), does not translate to refinement. Second; No one is trying to make RDX anything. You are talking about it the first time here. Third; Acura quality is proven through the years. "Better", "nicer" are subjective remarks. The material quality, fit and finish, and overall reliability of the car goes for Acura RDX. Fourth; Acura as a brand is superior to Kia. Kia might have some plush and luxurious models such as Equus, or top model Genesis, but Acura still outperforms Kia at any level. Fifth; stop being a hater. If you are that an objective person, why don't you compare Kia with European cars? Are you afraid? Because Acura is outperforming European cars and they are afraid. Europeans (Audi) came up with torque vectoring AWD after Acura came up with SH-AWD, now Some Porsche's are coming with rear wheel steering after Acura came up with PAW-S (which is the improved version of AWS of Preludes of the 80's and 90's). The heck Acura even came up with the Hybrid SH-AWD which Europeans could not even dream about when they rushed their hybrid super cars in the market. So, why don't you get some ice water for yourself to cool down and be the objective person whom your appear to be by stop hating good quality cars.

No, nobody brought up the RDX, you're right. But as far as Acura's go, that is the benchmark for direct comparison to the SX. I just assumed you'd know that. Silly of me to assume you're an expert. Also forgot to mention that I own a 16 RDX Elite. I love that car, and yes it is a shade nicer in some areas compared to the KIA (and for 12k more it had better be), but there are definitely things about the KIA that are nicer and superior to the Acura. As far as quality goes, Acura has been around longer and has had time to develop and mature. You're probably too young to remember the first gen MDXs, which were plagued with quality issues. Feel free to check out the JD Power rankings for quality of the Sportage this year. I find it interesting that you mention European cars with such fervor. You know that KIA scooped Audi's lead designer a few years back right? Oh yes, thank you for taking the time to define 'refinement' for me. Not sure what I would have done without your help. I thought it was a Porsche Cayenne at first... very beautiful SUV. spacious as well and the backseats can recline back... heated too. omg! That dashboard is sexy. Yes I said it! I remember when Kia was a poor man's brand... back in the day I owned a 2003 Kia spectra, cheap plastics on the dash but the it never broke down in the 3 years that I owned it. Their new line is luxurious and most goodies come standard, you pay extra for such with Toyota rav 4, Mazda MDX, Nissan rogue or Honda crv. Only thing they failed on with this Sportage is fuel range. But it's a turbo so I can't fault them. I'm getting a 2011-2013 Sportage because they are within my price range. Or a 2009 Nissan Rogue/Murano because they are cheaper and cool design. one of those vehicles.

Toyota's big selling point is reliability. Outside of that they need lessons in car design, car interior design. If they brought back the V6 option to the RAV4 with improved design then yes they could kill the competition. Right now I see people taking notice of this new sportage SX, the new CRV with a turbo option and the new nice looking CX-5. The RAV 4 is still a popular choice for the more conservative driver who ranks reliability and safety above all.

I get 29-31 highway in my Sportage sx. Average for me is 26-28. The only way I would get those horrible numbers is full time use of sport mode which is totally unnecessary.

Well I partially blame these trends on government over regulation on MPG's. All these car makers are trying to reach MPG's goals and at the same time offer the consumer more power. The turbo 4 thing seems to be the growing solution but we all know a Turbo 4 is nothing like a V6. SomeV6 engines get better mileage than some of these turbo's.
