2017 Mathews Halon 32

The Halon 32 was introduced by Mathews in 2017 following the Halon in 2016, 2" longer than the Halon makes the bow a bit more forgiving.
The Halon 32 comes in 5,6 and 7" brace height. 5" and 6" brace height are the most common.
IBO rating of 350fps - draw length 24.5-30.5" by changing modules.

I just picked up a Halon32, its 50#@29”, max out at 55#. Perfect deer hunting bow, super smooth draw and I can hold full draw all day, super quiet on the shot

I still use this as my hunting rig. And I wish I listened to this years ago, I now do shoot this without a stabilizer like you suggested. It’s balanced so well without one. I’m so comfortable having shot this bow so long, I don’t think I’ll ever want a newer one. We will see though.😉

Do you even hunt Steven? I have this bow and don't even notice the weight. I shoot a heavier bow a lot better than a light bow. Accuracy is everything to me.

Very good and honest review, thanx. I'm setup with a 80# MR7 Full rig, just under 11lbs. getting a 32 this week. I love the weight. On a 3D we shoot 20m arrows for the whole day, walk about 8kms and the weight was never a problem.

Thanks - I think manufactures should listen and improve. I know my latest Mathews shipments have been fast. I was waiting 3-4 months previously for them. Now 2-3 weeks so a huge improvement. I would like a light Halon 32 in the line up for 2018.

I personally really like the weight of the bow. Another reason why it is extremely stable to shoot. I have no problem packing it around for hours on the 3d course, nor for days in the mountains. Love this bow. Shooting it at 63lbs, 31" draw.

I have a mathews Legacy solocam, that needs a new string and cables. But the limb mount string suppressors are obstructing my cable bow press, and the allen bolts in the suppressors have pins in the center. Why does it seem as if Mathews is preventing people from removing them? is there a reason for this? Because i have never seen a allen bolt of this style and i certainly have never seen a allen key like this either. What can i do? theres literally zero pro shops where im from. Only one, but hes really nutty. So nutty that all the other local pro shop guys retired just to get away LOL. I really feel stuck here, i want to service this thing and use it without damaging it. If anyone might know something its you

From one of your viewers in the US, we have regions of the country, particularly in the Rocky mountain states (Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Wyoming, Montana and Idaho) where spot and stalk are the main hunting techniques. I hunt with a 2015 PSE Decree that has 6 ounce Bee Stinger stabilizer and total bow weight of over 6lbs when hunting with quiver and arrows. While some do look for light weight bows, some of us prefer the extra weight.

Absolutely and that is why it is important to try different bows and see what you like. I did love my 2015 Decree. It is interesting that the 2017 Decree is slower and the 2017 Mathews is faster.

I acutally have a heap of Mathews shirts. It just depends on the day. I am like the TRU Ball T shirt. I liked the bow. But you need to work out the bow you want and then take alot at all the bows on offer.

You seem to be stuck on the weight, do you remember older bows? But to each his own. Other than that it was a great review as always. As far as speed goes, not a fan of a Hunting bow shooting much over 280 fps anyway, but again a personal choice. I feel in love with this bow the first time shooting it, and I have been a loyal Hoyt shooter for 20 years.

I can honestly say the halon 32 6 is the best bow i have ever shot. The pro shop up the road had a left over for a sweet deal he put it on hold for me and i pick it up next week. I love the weight of the bow it honestly dont bother me. It holds and aims very well. It is my first mathews cant wait to pick it up.

Really like your channel. Question, how would this bow perform purely for target archery (I know it is officially a hunting bow)? Really dig the looks of this bow. Longer ATAs don't really appeal me, same as super long stabilizers. Currently shooting the PSE Premonition, thanks.

Fine, most bows are very similar. the bow has weight, so steady to aim. At the elite level you will probably want a longer bow. But you can shoot winning scores with any bow really. Now with this bow for target it is faster than target bows so I would shoot heavier arrows for more stability, especially in wind. longer distance more speed is good.

I don't know any of the Bowtechs anymore. We had to many issues with that brand. I have two in my store 2 years old and can't get parts. But they did make a nice bow, customer service just let them down.

Great review i really like the weight of this bow. The weight makes it easy to aim, gives it less hand shock. I haven’t owned a Mathews since the mq32 for the last 15 yrs I’ve shot bowtech and pse. IMO this is the best bow I have ever shot. I just spent 2 hours shooting the Hoyt red wrk , realmx , triax and halon 32. I put the triax away after 2 shots I’m 6’3 with 30” draw it felt to short. Realmx was really a nice bow but I liked the red wrks and halon 32 a little better. After an hour of shooting red wrks vs halon 32 I choose the halon 32 because of how smooth the draw cycle was.

I just traded a pse carbon air 34 ecs for a mathews halon x comp... sent off the bare carbon air thinking "wow this thing is super light", got the bare mathews and thought, wow, this seems so much lighter than the advertised weight suggests and what I expected... 🤷‍♂️😄

Do you think that it can be a good 3D bow for a 26,5 draw lenght archer? For 3D the weight is not a problem as for hunting don't you think?

I agree. The weight will make you more stable and reduce shock. 26.5" will reduce speed so I would like a faster bow. So I think the Halon 32 is a great choice. I would check the speed on the Halon X. But I think the 32 is faster and smoother from memory. Some 3D archers use longer target style bows. So something to consider.

In this video you mentioned the weight 24 times. Weight? Why would I care about the weight? I'm either sitting in a tree stand or ground blind and during Whitetail season I may only pick up my bow once or twice to make a shot. If I go Elk hunting I hike from dawn to dusk and this weight has never been an issue. The PSE Evolve 31 is only 195 grams less weight with a 1 inch less ATA. Why don't to tell us which flagship bow that is not a Carbon weighs less than your magical 4 pounds. This is the Best Mathews bow ever and I paid a grand for it, nobody gave it to me free to say this. Eat some spinach maybe it won't feel so heavy to you. Mathews, is King in Texas.

But your main purpose is a target bow. But as a hunting bow it is a great bow, I like the Halon 6 30 the best. I do have a shorter draw tho. I do think my Halon is the greatest I shot. With my PSE DNA I could only draw 62 ib, with out being wore out. With the Halon I can draw it all day. It also is a 70lb and maxed out 73 lb. As on the target 60 yards both bows 3 arrow groups touching to a 1 1/2 groups. Those two bows I own are better feel and more accurate then my Hoyts. I shot Hoyt for years. So I'm not claiming this as a Mathews fan, or PSE fan boy click. The fact of the matter is I hated Mathews and PSE. Until I shot the two I mentioned. As far as weight, it makes the bow more stable and less hand shock = better groups. As you mentioned about the customer. I never felt a difference bare or decked out. If a few oz bothers someone in weight. You haven't gave it a chance. If a couple oz is a problem . That person is just being a hater no matter what Mathews would make.Once you shoot a while. you wouldn't notice it anyways. I do hunt in tree stands, blinds, and also do stock hunting. There still lighter then those Oneidas. lol
