Well I never once stated I was a professional race car driver, but I will say that I took the Lexus GS-F, RC-F, Focus RS, and Cadillac ATS-V out before the Mercedes and neither of these cars were quite as tail happy. I could use more practice and instruction from a professional for sure, but this video was literally my first time trying the C63S out on a track. -Sofyan

Hey let the man have some fun he never said he's a racing driver could he use practice yes but the only important thing is that he had fun and hell the video was enjoyable

Hey, apologies if I offended, that wasn't my intent with the comment. As someone who has also been a car lover his whole life, but only in the last few years opted to start learning the art of performance driving from instructors, my eyes have been opened as to how helpful that is for a regular Joe. Over confidence has bitten me in the butt a couple times, and I've sadly seen others get seriously hurt by seemingly small mistakes that turned ugly fast. The comment was coming from that place. Expanding on my earlier statement, I think your reviews are more enjoyable and informative than most of the big budget reviewers out there, which is why I'm a loyal subscriber. Be safe, have fun, and keep learning every day!
@baronvonsturz2.0118 жыл бұрын
Thx for the track drive. In a german car magazine, the first testet C63S-Coupe was tailhappy because the setting of the suspension was not okay out of factory, the second one tested was better. But despite of that too much steering and gas at a corner where the tail gets light. Still i am not a good driver on track :P
@theredline8 жыл бұрын
No need to apologize! I just wanted to make it clear to everyone that I am not a race car driver and literally just started learning/attempting track driving a couple years ago. I will admit that I probably enjoyed the loose rear end of the C63S a lot more then I should and I was trying to figure out where its limits were on each corner. You guys just happened to be lucky enough to see my screw up when I went into the corner a little too hot and the back stepped out. Vehicles like a Miata or BRZ are definitely more forgiving and controllable and that's the kind of track car I am still used to driving at this time. The whole point is that I had a ton of fun driving the AMG and the car returned to Mercedes with no damage. Thanks for watching and hopefully after I get a bit more practice and instruction, I'll be able to show you guys more track driving videos in the future :) -Sofyan

Your turn off the AC but open the window?!? 1) I find it hard to believe that car pulled power for the AC from the engine. They just bypass that and go to the battery today. Even my S5 Audi does that. 2) Opening the window will slow your car way more than any AC possibly could.

" I find it hard to believe that car pulled power for the AC from the engine. They just bypass that and go to the battery today" What on earth are you talking about?. The AC operates from an engine powered, belt driven compressor. That requires hp to drive the compressor. So what does your theory of "they bypass that and go to the battery mean"? Please explain your engineering concept of how automotive AC works.

Dont get me wrong, see it as a help. You dont know the racing line, you dont know how to drive, you dont know how to drive on a racetrack. The biggest problem is that you dont know what the car will do if you do this or that ... You just jumped into the car and pressed on the throttle without thinking what could happen if you give to much power. You dont have any reflexes at all ! I mean counter steer when the car slides out. You dont have any of that. You should really learn this

non-S has mechanical lsd, tuners prefer a more predicable slide , notice RPM same but off camber downhill turn just snaps the rear around with steady throttle and steady steering it still snapped , perhaps the v8 weight pushed down on the outside front before driver was ready ??? IDK about $10 for S option, testers saying elect diff snakes thru essses like awd and removes the driver along with steering feedback (already numb from removing hydraulic rack)

I just did a track day with mine. You are throwing it around too much need to be smoother. I have the sedan version which handles worse than the coupe and was able to take corners at around 140-150kms. Redline Reviews Seems like most people agree with the GSF being a better performer than the RCF. Could be due to the RCF's chassis being a Frankenstein of GS up front, IS convertible in the middle, and IS sedan in the back; so might be a little unbalanced.

Just a little advice, stay off race mode!!!!!! In sport mode the nannies would have prevented the rear from stepping out and you would have gotten around a lot faster. You can tell that you are a FWD driver and that this rear only power monster is a new experience for you! Better yet, just skip the C63 and jump on the new E63, the AWD system in the latter can make any one feel like they are Fangio (as long as you don't drive in drift mode). I enjoyed every minute of the vid loads of fun. BTW for those worried about the price of the car, this is only a C class this little monster can be yours for around 80k, about the same price as the E43 which "only" has a 400hp v6. Decisions, decisions, a significantly more refined "slower" car or a faster little monster!

@theredline8 жыл бұрын
Last time I checked, I'm not the guy from Jalopnik who crashed the pre-production Camaro into a wall. Some people take bigger risks than others, but I like to think that I know my limits pretty well. Yes, I was driving a 500 horsepower sports car on a very technical track. Yes, it was my first time trying my hand at talking to you guys while driving on a course that I'm not familiar with, in a car I've never driven. However, comparing what I did to texting and driving are just completely wrong, they are totally different. When you're texting, you take your hands off the wheels and eyes off the road. Talking to a camera is the equivalent of thinking out loud (watch carefully and you'll notice that I barely looked at the camera, most of the time my eyes were on the road), which you are already doing in your head when driving around a road course anyways. I don't consider it dangerous, but perhaps others just can't quite comprehend multi-tasking like that. It's definitely not easy, but some can do it, with practice. Give me a little credit here, I barely went into the grass, sure it slid around a bit, but nothing crazy. There was plenty of run off on that track incase you do misjudge a corner, I also rarely went above triple digit speeds. The longest straight on that track makes it quite possible to hit 150 mph in the right car. Just imagine if I choose the drive this 500 horsepower beast like grandma on a congested interstate? It wouldn't make for a very interesting video, now would it? Like I said earlier, the car returned to Mercedes with no damage and I had a blast showing you guys how it was for me on the race track. :) -Sofyan
