I’m glad u published this. It’s nice to see a mechanic struggle with something that otherwise looks simple. Makes the rest of us realize that not everything works perfectly or is perfectly designed in these cars.

Yes Sir! Completely agree with you! Yes some cars will give you hard time and some not. What is important is for people to understand that trying to fix and maintain vehicles is not an easy task and it takes time and some very good skills! Well I love working on cars and take these challenges as a learning process... Thanks for the support! 🙏 👍

Where do you spray disinfectant to make the ac smell better? Into that grill you removed?
@projectathos8 ай бұрын
You could spray liquid/spray in the box down direction after you remove the horizontal pollen filters past the vertical dust filter. You would definitely need to do it when the AC is running on Cold with Max Fan Mode so it can get into the whole ac housing system. Unfortunately I don't know what you can spray it with to clean the Evaporator coil/ radiator inside as that's where the smell is coming from. It's the dirt and bacteria that accumulates during the sweating and release of condensation of that same radiator during the operation of your AC in cold setting during hot and humid weather. Best advice I can give you is to before shutting down your vehicle to shut down the AC cold setting for a few minutes while you let the Fan mode Only run to try to clean the Evaporator from the sweat and bacteria so it is close to dry when you shut down your car completely. Same is valid for starting your AC. Run the fan first and then activate AC on cold. Auto setting has NEVER worked in this situation! I have owned Mercedes vehicles for many years and the only time they stink is when you start them! That's because of the leftover bacteria that thrives in the mixture left around the Evaporator after you shut down your car but the fan was never run to push the condensation out of the AC housing. I was offered some spray can some years back from Mercedes that was suggested to owners who complained about that "Dirty Socks" smell from their AC system but it was only meant for the previous E Class vehicles as I remember. Worst things was that the owner had to drill some weird hole in the dash behind the ashtray in order to use it and I never ended up using it because simply I didn't want to drill in the wrong place and ruin something in the dash of my Mercedes! I will try and find some more info about what can be used to spray in the ac system and will try to make another video on this topic as you are one of a few persons asking about it... Thanks and Good Luck for now! 💪👍🤞

@@projectathos thank you! Yes a video would be helpful as it seems to be much less complicated on other cars. The solution seems to be to spray a can of Lysol into the “plenum” but that doesn’t seem to be that simple for this car! Appreciate your time :)

When you said that the filter needs to be white, that is incorrect. The original filters you took out are charcoal filters and they are supposed to be dark gray in color. At least this is what the new Mercedes charcoal filters look like, minus the dust, pollen and debris. Thanks for the video though. Looks like a pain to remove.install those!

Yes, you are right as the Interior filter is sometimes a Charcoal Filter and they are kind of gray with black and white particles. They are specially made to help filter more dust and bacteria. The outside Dust Filters though I have only seen in White so far and this is what I meant in the video. Thanks anyway... 👍

Could you tell us the serial numbers of the filters or even put a link in a comment?

Part Numbers are in the video. You can watch and write them down. You can also get on one of the websites that sell these filters or call your local Mercedes Dealer. Thanks...

You make it so complicated 😂

Haha well these do take their effort and skills to change! So keep on pushing! This is one of the easy jobs on these cars! Thanks 👍
