Interesting notes in South Carolina's run (from another UL fan) The matchup with Duke is notable because Frank Martin coached against Duke when he was at Kansas State in 2010-11. The Sweet 16 game between Baylor-South Carolina was the first meeting after Baylor won both meetings against the Gamecocks in 2013 and 2014 - as well as Martin's familiarity with Scott Drew). The Florida rematch is noted in that both teams split both meetings that season.

I think this is the best year for the committee. I mean they're not perfect ever but my only minor complaints would've been them putting Michigan State and Vanderbilt in. Thank goodness Syracuse didn't get put in again, so they made up for last year's mistake. As a Florida fan it's nice just seeing them back in the tournament

Aside from Michigan State and Vanderbilt, who else could they have taken? The only two replacements I can think of are Syracuse and Illinois State, but they both had their own problems. Syracuse was 2-11 in true road games and Illinois State's only top-100 win was over Wichita State, who they got clobbered by in their other two meetings. I can't think of any other non-tourney teams with better cases.

Several inconsistencies within this bracket. Wisconsin should not be an 8 seed, neither should Minnesota be a 5. Wichita at a 10 is laughable, and Cincinnati and Smu should be 5 or 4 seeds. Also, something that has gone under the radar is how Louisville is a 2 seed, they won no games in the conference tournament. And you cant say the conference tournament doesn't matter, because duke doesn't get a two seed without winning it. Also think Arizona deserved a one seed over North Carolina and or Kansas, cant have the conference tourney help teams, but also not hurt them in a sense.

Explanations: 1. Wisconsin got an #8 due to no notable non-conference wins against Top 50 RPI opponents (best OOC win was against Syracuse), 2. Minnesota did have some non-con wins against VU and Arkansas as well as beating Purdue in West Lafayette 3. Cincinnati and SMU got #6 seeds due to the AAC being relatively weak outside of those two as well as the fact they got little out of non-conference quality wins 4. Louisville got a #2 seed (weakest #2) because their non-con SOS was in the Top 5 and had a number of non-con wins (Wichita St, Kentucky, Purdue). 5. Duke got a #2 (third #2) DUE to losses to Syracuse and NC State during the regular season. 6. Arizona got a #2 (second #2) due to only having a non-con win over Michigan St (UNC despite the losses to GT and Indiana had 10 or 11 Top 50 RPI wins) and the Pac-12 was only competitive within four teams (Oregon, UCLA and USC being the other three).
