ImaybetotallywrongbutI'ma...dancin' fool I was born in 94, and my dad being the huge Bama fan he is, as soon as he could, had me watching Alabama football with him. The earliest football memory I have is watching Bama get dealt with by Tennessee...on a path to going 4-9. Might've been Shula's first year. He had recorded on VHS the 92 sugar bowl against Miami. I watched that almost everyday as a kid as a rehab for bad Bama football lol. Because of those times, I thoroughly appreciate these great times we're having now.

@Andrew Cain You're approaching 30 and I hope you are old and wiser. Shula faced * 3 ranked Aub teams or 75%. They had 13, 9, 11 wins * 4 ranked TN teams or 100% Saban * is 0-5 (0-8 lifetime) against Aub teams that finish with 9 wins. Had he faced the same quality of Aub team that Shula faced, he could very well be 4-12 against Auburn. * has faced 3 ranked TN teams and owns 2. Had he faced the same quality of TN team that Shula faced, he could very well be 11-5 against TN. So, in total, had Saban faced the same quality of TN and Aub team Shula faced his record might very be 15-17 against them vs 26-6 and NO WAY he even plays for as many NCs esp in years where he loses to both. NO WAY!

@blakeedmondson95736 жыл бұрын
This is awesome. And I keep hearing and reading so many people comment that Saban wasn't good in the NFL. He actually overachieved with the dolphins. By far the worst NFL roster in 2005 and 2006 and he almost took them to the playoffs. They were 9-7 and finished the year with 6 straight wins in 2005. That's with Gus Ferotte as his QB. The next year he had Joey Harrington and Cleo Lemon as his two starting QBs. Most coaches wouldn't have won 2 games with those guys. Went 6-10. It's widely known if the dolphins would've signed Drew Brees, Saban would've never left for Bama. Imagine how Bama and all of college football would be all these years without Nick Saban. Interest in college football is at an all time high due muchly to him. One can argue against him being the best coach in college football history but you can't argue in him being the most influential coach in college football history

Saban didn’t like being a nfl coach, he became a college football coach so he could teach them more. NFL players think they made it, they’re better than people. He came in so he could teach more than football, he helped the graduation rate go up, and these kids to become men. It’s a very interesting story and I hope someone makes a documentary about what saban did to football other than being a good coach.

In my ongoing effort to help validate Saban's *"caveat covered NCs"*, I calculated this stat this afternoon. Wouldn't a great coach help validate his "greatness" by winning his 1st ever playoff game? Playoff coaches grouped by winners and losers of 1st PO game they coached. Look at the group that won their 1st vs the group that didn't. Also, take into account how many years they had been coaching. *"NONE of the bottom group are NC winning coaches in the PO era, except Saban."* Team Coach Yrs 1st PO Won Clem Dabo 7 2015 Yes GA.. Herbie 2 2017 Yes LSU. Oregon 3 2019 Yes OR... Helfrich 2 2014 Yes OSU Meyer 3 2014 Yes AL *"Saban"* 8 2014 No Cinci Fickell 5 2021 No FSU Fisher 5 2014 No MI Harb. 7 2021 No MSU Danto. 9 2015 No ND Kelly 9 2018 No OK Stoops 17 2015 No OK Riley 1 2017 No OSU Ryan 1 2019 No WA Peter. 3 2016 No * Yrs coached at school when 1st PO game played Damn, I failed again. The "greatest" ever lost his 1st.
@grahamfam03 Жыл бұрын
Fortunately, it was not his "first" rodeo. Coach Saban won his first national championship in the 2003 season. In fact, he went 4-0 in national championship games before anyone ever won a "playoff" game, or before losing his first playoff game... because the CFB playoffs didn't start until 2014. After losing to Ohio St. in 2014, he's never lost another playoff game... and gone on to win 3 more national titles. No team/coach in college football history has a resume (on any single bullet point) that comes close to accomplishing what coach Saban has within a 16 year span. Roll Tide. 👍
@mas5867 Жыл бұрын
@@grahamfam03 LOL. I am building my case with a ton of reasonable doubt, a ton, as to why he has all those NCs. Let's start with NCs since 78 or was it 79 that Bryant won his last outright? ~37 NCs (not including independents) Only 6 of those came by either, the winning coach 1) Not being his conf winner, or 2) Playing a coach that didn't win his conf. You know, all things being equal, an easier path to a NC. The count: 6. Saban 4, Herbie 1, Coker 1. It's not fair in the least. 2009 suppose Meyer looks into his crystal ball and says, "wait, Saban will play in 2 NC games in the future and will not have to even play in the SECC game. FL is #1. It does me absolutely no good to play in that game. I have everything to lose. And he would have been spot on. Yes, all Saban could do was play in the system that existed. And Osborne has 2 NC championships bec he was playing in the Big Easy too. At the time, the conference's SOS was at the bottom of all conferences, except the MAC. True, honest football fans will not give Saban a pass. I sure as hell won't and I am a Bama grad. I can go on and on with the reasonable doubt case against Saban.
@mas5867 Жыл бұрын
@ROLL TIDE Graham We know Saban has never beaten an Auburn team that finishes with at least 9 wins. 0-8 and not one of his NCs have come through at good Auburn team. What else do we know. He was 1-3 vs Spurrier. Spurrier finished with at least 9 wins the 3 years he won. He was 0-2 against Osborne. Ok great team but still 0-2 against team that finished with at least 9 wins. Joe Tiller: Saban played 2, 9 wins Purdue teams and lost. Alverez: Saban only played 1 9 win WI team and lost. One day, I will go down this path. He's tied with Dabo when Dabo has 9 wins. Tied with Meyer. Same Keyword is tied. Great doesn't tie. Nothing at all to this point indicates greatness.

Let's do the math. 16 games * 75% and Saban wins 4. If he plays the quality of TN and Aub team that Shula did, he may have 2 NCs at Bama. Losing late to both would absolutely knock him out of contention. I have so much more reasonable doubt.

He seems like a good college coach, don't know about the NFL. Of course, his school always gets the best high school players, so it's hard to put him on a pedestal. Of course, Clemson took em down. Schedule is very weak year in and year out, of course, many of the SEC teams are not very good. College needs a new system, where it takes the top 28 teams of the previous year's rankings and divides those teams into four divisions of seven. For example Division One would consist of ranked teams: 1, 8, 9, 16, 17, 24, and 25. And Division two would be teams: 2, 7, 10, 15, 18, 23, and 26. And so on. Now that would be AWESOME and do away with the SEC and all these stupid blowout games that no one wants to watch.
@acvieluf6 жыл бұрын
His "school" gets the best players? Who do you think does the recruiting? The Dean of Students? One of the reasons Saban is so successful is that he's one of (if not THE) best recruiters out there. His school doesn't get the best players, HE gets the school the best players. You'll never see another system for dividing the teams, because you would lose all of the best rivalry games, and that helps keep college FB's popularity, no matter the team records. Here's an idea: Let's keep everyone in the same conferences, have them play each other throughout the regular season, with some non-conference games peppered in. Then, we'll have the conferences play their own conference championships, to determine the best in each. THEN, (and here's the real doozy), we'll have the top 4 teams in the country play each other, regardless of conference, in a small playoff to determine the National Champion. What do you think?
@kgreene1046 жыл бұрын
Exactly. No matter if the game is a blowout fans live for things like Third Sat in Oct, The Egg Bowl, Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, Red River Shootout, etc. Some of these teams have played each other for over a century. College football is all about tradition and that is what makes it great.
