I have one, 2016 to be exact. The reason why this thing sells well is because Nissan hit a sweet spot, checking all the boxes for the average consumer in this class. This was considerably cheaper than the RAV4 I looked at. (SV trim equivalent for the Toyota was a round $34k some as high as $38k unbelievable for a Toyota) It came with panoramic roof, heated seats, blind spot monitoring, power lift tailgate, rear air vents for less than $28k. A combination of people buying more crossovers, buying for price (value) , and the fact that it's one of the LEAST offensive design wise, that is the reason people are buying it. Didn't buy this for driving, I expected this thing to not be quick because of the 2.5 with only 170 odd horsepower. But it's maneuverable, small, efficient and it gets the job done for us for now. I will be looking at some Muranos in the future. Had one as a rental for a trip and it wasn't too far off with gas mileage and it was way more comfortable. But really....this is just what it is...a compact work horse crossover that get's the job done. Nothing more nothing less.
@izzyifdu75997 жыл бұрын
Also, with now 24,000 miles on it, I haven't had an issue with the engine/transmission yet. Not saying there won't be, but when Nissan says bring it in for maintenance, I bring it in 1000 miles before the dated service. Still runs like when I first got it.
@TheCobruhAlienat0r7 жыл бұрын
You get what you pay for. The Toyota will hold it's resale value much better and will last for 200k miles easy, the Nissan on the other hand I'd be surprised if it gets to 100k with all the issues you hear them having with the CVT's and that huge number of years they had where coolant leaks into the transmission because of a bad design and ruins it and they kept the bad design for so long.
@izzyifdu75997 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. I was just thrown back on the pricing of the Toyota with LESS options. If Toyota ever gets around to redesigning the RAV4 or Highlander I will take a look at them as well. Until then, time will tell with the reliability of my Nissan. But so far no issues. And I'm not sure either with if those issues were address with this new Xtronic CVT.

TheCobruhAlienat0r you are very wrong... my mom has owned 5 Nissans since 2002 & I own a 2008 Nissan Altima with $261,000+ miles with no issues and no transmissions problems whatsoever. In my opinion, all Japanese cars are just better than American cars, I've seen it time and time again.

Terrence L it's not that they are terrible cars, however their quality has gone down. I myself personally owned a 1997 Maxima and a 2003 Altima SE prior to purchasing a 2015 Rogue. I've had problems with my Rogue that I never had to deal with on my older Maxima and Altima until they were 10+ years old. Nissan merged with a French company (Renault), so that French influence really brought down their reliability track. Some people are luck and some get bad luck, but I've never seen a 08 Altima with over 200K with the Original transmission, unless it was a standard

"I've never heard him say anything bad about other car engines" Um... he has in many other reviews, like the Fiat 500x and new Tiguan reviews. Nissan is extremely outdated in their engine technology, their CVTs are the worst in the business, and their interiors are cheap feeling and plain garbage. They are also extremely slow, and it's not like they offer the most fuel efficient cars either. Honda and other carmakers have more modern engines that are fuel efficient and deliver better performance. Nissan is such a lazy company with no class leading cars (other than the Maxima, which Sofyan liked btw), so all in all, his criticism of Nissan is warranted.

Did u recommend me to get one 2017 SL AWD with 20k miles on it? Or u recommend me to get other make?
@samm84027 жыл бұрын
Sofyan, Could you let me know what do you mean as technically not full stop & go. You mean after automatic stop and if stop duration is more than few seconds you can not resume cruising by pressing reume button or accelerator? Need to set adaptive cruise again? If so is it because of missing explicit brake hold or implicit brake hold ? I believe 2018 Rogue model is getting initial level of Propilot(single lane) similar like 2018 X-trail in Europe. If so would propilot still just for reducing steering effort and Lane centering?

A Honest review as always. But one thing i thing you should change is your camera man. It's terrible. And keep all your complaints, cuz these are what we should look at when shopping for a new vehicle.
@GaryKetchum8087 жыл бұрын
2015 Rogue was nice, and I didn't think they'd be able to make it any better. But damn, the 2017 is hella sexy.

i really dont like when the video is not from your perspective, camera wise. its better when you're holding the camera so we can see the interior better.

Not an "enthusiast" vehicle, but looks ok, pretty efficient, very useful, seems to tick off the boxes it needs to.

The review for this video versus the 2015 video you did is contradicting... you give it bad review on this one but good review in the 2015 video... I brought a 2015 rouge based on your good review. Plus you also said it was better than the CRV...
@theredline7 жыл бұрын
Keep in mind, when we filmed that 2015 model, we were comparing it to the old 2015 CR-V which the Rogue was better at the time. The competition has moved on and Nissan has to make changes to the Rogue in order to keep in competitive.

Toni Wilson you should never purchase a car based on an automotive journalist review. You need to do your own research. Did you ever hear him talk about the CVT transmission problems these vehicles had and how Nissan had to extend some warranties to 10 years/120,000 miles.

Come on Sofyan. Why aren't you able to see the blind spot warning well? I think it's actually better inside than outside, where the mirrors could get foggy and then you really won't see it!

I just bought one 2017 model and gotta say rev of the engine is annoying , changing of gears is not smooth it always go above 3k rpm before it shifts

Is Sofyan kidding me when he says "Nissan manages to hide the size of the Rogue"? That crossover dwarfs you and it's a compact crossover at that 😂😂😂😂
@Michael06977 жыл бұрын
This car would be amazing if they tuned the suspension better, dropped the 2.5 for a turbo making around 200 hp/torque, and most importantly, dropped the CVT for an 8-Speed Auto.

It's also funny, because when he gets on the gas, the engine sounds great in the video. lol. want to hear something even better? go on here, and listen to how good the Stillen exhaust sounds on them.

I have been in one of these. Its interior is actually not that bad. But yes, Nissan needs to pull the plug on this 16 year old engine. Nissan also needs to take notes from Honda, Toyota and Subaru when it comes to their CVTs. And with all that being said, Nissan needs to give this car a more refined powertrain that offers more power.

nice review but i hope your cameraman would also focus more on the car instead of the reviewer.

This guy is usually sharp and gives above average reviews but the on and on negativity in this work is just annoying. No, I don't own a Rogue but it seems to be a great car.

Excellent review Sofyan! While I do like the refreshed look of the Rogue both inside and outside, It's surprisingly still able to maintain it's own ground quite well. I do wish that the infotainment system was to more up-to-date to be in line with the competition (like having both Apple Carplay and Android Auto capabilities), as well as having a more refined power plant. In addition, do you have any plans to review the redesigned Mazda CX-5 in the near future (Also, feel free to check out my review of the Subaru BRZ Series.Yellow that went live today, if you're interested)? - Michael

Another great review! I would agree the driving dynamics are pretty plain, but I don't think Nissan is going for the enthusiast in the way that Mazda or VW are. I think they're going the mass appeal route that has worked for Toyota for so many years so I think they are on the right track and it shows. It may be bland, but its roomy with excellent, with a comfortable ride, good fuel efficiency and a premium interior with a lot of the tech people really want. They're also pretty generous with discounts I think too. I've heard others complain about the power as well, but again, for most people I think it'll work. Plus compared with other entries like the RAV4, the 1.5L Equinox, the 1.5L Escape, the 2.4L Sportage, etc its right on track (definitely behind the 2.0L Escape or Forester XT). I do disagree about the interior noise, I've heard others say its really quiet (besides engine noise) so I guess its a try before you buy. Plus, Nissan's CVT reliability has been improving over the last decade and last year's consumer reports reliability data came in at above average, so that plus that its now in its fourth year on the market should be a good indication that it'll hold up fine with regular maintenance. As for Apple Carplay/Android Auto, the Murano and Maxima got it this year so the technology is might be on its way down the line.

Honestly I do enjoy your reviews, but it seems like you’re biased when it comes too Nissan. Just my opinion and I know you’ve made comments on the key-fob for years and here in 2019 I don’t think it’s changed yet anyways keep up the good work!
@WunderboyStudios7 жыл бұрын
I thought it was a pretty honest review. 170hp is underpowered for an SUV. If you’re paying up to $35k for it, it should have a better engine. Drop that Nissan 3.5L V6 in there, and then it’ll be fun!
@mikec16557 жыл бұрын
Why the hell do people complain about the cabin being dated after a few years and not being fully remolded? Like that's going to happen before the remodel.... they aren't going to typical put in whole new safety tech and head unit tech till a fully remodeled year Like stop bitching and just wait
