In case anyone needs the details, it appears H11 bulbs are needed for anyone that has eyesight on their forester. It has steering responsive fog lights which must have a slightly different housing. The H16 bulbs should work in any model that doesn't have eyesight.

Loved your video so I added these to my 2015 forester 2.5i Touring. My HID headlamps don’t match these as well as yours. The 6500k option is still more blue than the headlamps but not enough to make me want to try the light yellow stickers. I too was worried about the extra light up high but without the sharp edge from the projector-style lamp(mine are reflector) it’s not nearly as noticeable. I still asked everyone I knew when I would follow them or meet them if they were too bright. Nobody said they were any brighter than other cars. I also used them in heavy fog and snow and they’re amazing, no glare and so much more light. I love these things and I’m still amazed how much more light they put on the road.

Not sure if you know this, but LEDs typically shine brighter the colder they are. It's not your imagination that LED traffic lights (and headlights, etc.) become so much brighter in winter. The trade-off, of course, is that LEDs emit a much narrow band of the color spectrum than their incandescent (traditional) counterparts. Hence their visual "starkness" at night.

My question as a new 2017 Subaru Forester Touring. If you replace the fog light stock bulbs and move to brighter LED bulbs, if you need to see in fog or heavy snow, bright lights actually cut down your visibility. Have you used the new LED fog lights in heavy snow or fog? How was visibility under those conditions? I, like you, like the bright LED fog lights so they match the headlights, but would hate to lose the ability to see in heavy snow or fog.
@TWRX_Chuck8 жыл бұрын
It's not winter yet so no snow so far. I've driven in fog without much issue. They come with differing color films, I believe its been proven that a yellow hue helps cut fog and precipitation, maybe try those?
@terribarker49178 жыл бұрын
Ok, thanks! Good video btw.
@scottfirman6 жыл бұрын
These fools do not get it. Yellow cuts though fog not blue light. I do not get it. I used to install fog lights on all my cars. In winter, bright lights will just throw the light back at you. Snow reflects light. Not so on yellow. All he made was spot lights.
@robroy86048 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your video T-WRX. I did the same foglight install on my 2017 FXT Touring (venetian red) and it looks great. I will say that the 6000K color temperature with no color cap is still a little bluer than the stock headlights. The 4500K color cap may be a closer match.
@TWRX_Chuck8 жыл бұрын
Agreed, I don't know if they have one that will match exactly, but they still look way better than stock!
@robroy86048 жыл бұрын
I put on the 4300K color cap but it was more amber than the headlights, so I peeled it off. I had the foglights on one night and did have an oncoming driver flash me. From the box labelling, the bulb appears to have a multi-purpose role and may serve as a headlight in other applications.

Yeah, I put some replacement LED's for my Tribeca's fogs as well. The Tribeca already had HID low-beams, halogen fogs. The HID's had a colour range of 6000K, and the LED fogs were probably 6500K. Very closely matched in color to each other. However, the output of the LED's puts to shame the output of the HID's, I think they are definitely brighter than the low-beams, even though they are about the same colour. Still I'm happy, I don't think it really matters if the fogs are more powerful than the low-beams, as the fogs are down below the lows, so they won't be shining directly in anybody's direct line of sight. And they do fill out the darkness close to your car, where the low-beams don't go.
@eltonko8 жыл бұрын
It's a cool idea, but the off-white color gives better contrast. I have the '17 touring model with led headlights, and it's too white. It's difficult to differentiate objects sometimes. I leave the oem foglights on to increase the contrast.
@TWRX_Chuck8 жыл бұрын
You could run them with one of the more yellow hued tints if you like that contrasty look. I'll probably be putting the yellow ones in my STi! The brightness is definitely appreciated on the back roads!

Any concerns that the LED lights won't heat up enough to melt the snow that will eventually get stuck on them, as they are somewhat recessed?
@TWRX_Chuck8 жыл бұрын
High output LED's actually put off a crap load of heat, I don't know if that will transfer to the housings through radiant heat, but honestly that never even crossed my mind!
@joholmes43406 жыл бұрын
Bill , I've heard this before. They said that bulbs project the heat forward and the LEDs create their heat to the rear where the chips are. Hence the rear mounted heat sink. So if the snow problem is bad, just keep the old bulbs around. It takes less that 5 min to change back

Hi ! Slightly off topic but is upgrading of the stock LED headlight and boomerang C LED drl possible ? Reason is that they are probably more like 4300k or 5000k that actually obvious more yellow than this 6000 or 6500 aftermarket LED foglights that I has also installed together with the sti linear/"fangs" DRL that are also whiter. Thanks in advance.
@dvillalba3d8 жыл бұрын
6500k is white light. Anything above that is blue, and anything bellow that is yellow. So forget about lights offering 8000k or 10000k. you are just coloring on blue.
@TWRX_Chuck8 жыл бұрын

I'm pretty sure 4300k is pure white, and for fogs it is better to be more yellow, like 2500-3000k.
@ruud25596 жыл бұрын
3000K is yellow. 4300K is yellowish white. Pure white is 5500K. 6000K looks white but is in fact already slightly blue. 6500K even more. 8000K is just blue and above 12000K it becomes purple. The pure white DRL's on modern cars are 5500K.

This fog light product is clearly targeted at people with near-zero understanding of "color temperature". Films and filters subtract wavelengths, hence diminish output. It's impossible for them to "shift" or "add" colors not already present in the LED's output. I'm laughing now.

WHY the HELL are they calling them FOG lights? They are NOT fog lights. YELLOW bulbs cut through fog NOT bright LEDS . Why the HELL do you think they are called FOG LIGHTS? People now days do not THINK. Try flipping those things on in a snow storm. The only thing you are going to see is SNOW REFLECTING back in your face. Those are DRIVING lights. NOT FOG lights. I replaced my stock bulbs with ACTUAL YELLOW FOG lights. Even in fog, you are NOT going to see farther with BRIGHTER lights. Thats the reason they included yellow filters. I wouldnt buy those things. Its best to buy yellow lens if possible. The inserts they sell are garbage and do not fit properly. I personally like the yellow lens look. It is more retro old school looking. If you really wanted to look cool you could mount some actual yellow round lights on a light bar on the roof rack up front.
