Let me start off by saying I'm not by anyway trashing this video but you're the only Yotuber out there that made a 12 minute video about Interior LED bulb installation. Not sure how that was even possible but you did it. Congrats.

Much brighter than the dim, stock lights. I may do something similar with my WRX STI. Interior lights have always been an issue when looking around the cabin.

Not sure why LED bulbs aren't people first mods when it's probably the cheapest mod that freshen up the car original look. Window tint should be on that list too but be cautious if you live in CA.

I'd love to do it to my Forester but if I change one bulb to LED, then the whole car is gonna have to be LED.

T-WRX looks great! I need to do this too. question, did you do the trunk light as well?
@krisnadiimam45567 жыл бұрын
btw, try finding a 7200kelvin led module, it looks nicer. gave off more natural feeling color, especially when u need to read something in the car at night. also i noticed the cob led type doesnt last as long as the regular led. they need heatsinks to operate properly.

first thing I did to my Forester. Got a kit of eBay that replaced those 3 plus the rear cargo light, lisense plate bulbs, and the bulbs at the bottom of the front doors. Think the kit was around $30 and even came with a small plastic pry tool. been on the car for 8 or so months and haven't had any problems with the bulbs or anything else. They look 100 times better but man they are bright haha!
@lamkevin11418 жыл бұрын
That's the thing with Ebay LEDs bulb. They either extremely bright or extremely dim but if they're too bright try switching to a known LED brand because normally those bulbs would've the perfect light output.

That's probably due to the fact he's sick and on top of that he said in his other videos he's going to post video on KZbin whenever he feel like recording because KZbin isn't his primary source of income as of now which initially means he can post video whenever he wants.

I did the same thing on my old car, I think it's a bit too bright, unless you are not doing any reading, the stock bulb should serve you pretty well, but if you are looking for something on the floor or anything, it will come in handy
@lamkevin11418 жыл бұрын
Not sure what brand LEDs you bought because generally speaking LED aren't that bright to a point where you can't bare the light output. Me personally I hate the stock bulb color which is why I would choose LED over Halogen bulbs any day and LED widen the light output compare to the Halogen bulbs.
@TWRX_Chuck8 жыл бұрын
Kevin Deng so far I dig the brightness, but we'll see if I grow tired of it!
@leemoore81548 жыл бұрын
I think I actually prefer the stock interior lights on mine. I debated doing the LED swap, but decided against it. I have the brown leather interior, and I think the more yellow lights make it a little bit warmer feeling inside. I worry that the LEDs would make it too cold and clinical feeling. I did replace most of the exterior lights with LEDs though. Backup lights and the under-door lights that shine on the ground when you open the front doors. I also replaced the dim little light for the hatch area, because I couldn't see anything with the stock light back there. I didn't do the LED fog lights, because I only use them in actual fog, and I suspect the LEDs would be blinding, which kind of defeats the purpose of fog lights.
@TWRX_Chuck8 жыл бұрын
Yeah no worries, I can understand the clinicalness. We are digging them so far, they are definitely way brighter using them day to day!

You could always try them out with some really cheap ones from eBay, and if you like them, order a good set, just a thought

The Body Control Module (BCM) is an issue. Subaru has just replaced 3 of them in my 2016 STI. Not sure why it happened, maybe a short of some sort. It started with my normal, incandescent dome light not working at all with the opening of the door, and it went downhill from there. The dealership told me it was the LED bulbs that i had replaced that made 2 BCM completely fail to the point that the car wouldn't start.
@TWRX_Chuck8 жыл бұрын
Good to know, hopefully people will do a little research before they try this out to make sure they are OK with the risk.

Do they make a replacement for the anemic cargo area lamps?
@TWRX_Chuck7 жыл бұрын
yeah they have a JDM lift gate lamp I think its called, plus you could just get a high output LED to replace the stock bulb.
@tommymas15 жыл бұрын
You could also purchase a rear dome light from the 2013 Forester and install in the headline above the cargo area. Did that to both my 2014 XT Touring and 2018 XT Touring and they have worked out great.

Dude, that's so funny. I have the 2014 Forester base model. As I am watching your video I see the car seats in the back and I'm like damn I have it set up exactly like yours. The Graco Forever seat, the Graco Clik Connect, even the mirror is the same. The down side is that there is zero room now in the back seat. I have made some modest upgrades like a Rally Innovations light bar with Hella fog lamps, trailer hitch, rain guards, molded splash guards, and polished exhaust finisher. I was considering adding aluminum skid plates from Primitive Racing just to beef her up a bit. I don't do any real hardcore off roading but I like knowing I can take her there if I want to. Also, I want to paint over the factory grille. Subaru charges way too much for the sport grille. Do you have any thoughts on using Plasti Dip for that? Thanks.

@lamkevin11418 жыл бұрын
Is your interior that bad to a point where you don't even what to look at it yourself because if that isn't the case I don't see anything wrong with putting in LEDs first? It modernize the car and it makes your car look a whole lot better especially if you hate the amber color on your cars.

Is it too bright?
@lamkevin11418 жыл бұрын
I don't know why so many people think LEDs are extremely bright to a point where it's unbearable. Generally speaking LEDs aren't going to blind you with the reflector lens installed but without the lens that could be whole other scenario. Overall LEDs brighten up the car especially at night due the fact that pure white light shows up the best at low light area but it's not going to blind you. Not sure how to explain it. It's not bright to a point where you can't keep your eyes open but it also isn't dim.
@TWRX_Chuck8 жыл бұрын
Rob P I don't think so, but it's definitely brighter than stock!
@BrianWarkentine8 жыл бұрын
I would not describe that color as bright white, bright blue instead. Not too good for night vision, and likely a good reason to keep the stock lamps.
