FYI...VERY IMPORTANT. Fill each screw hole with silicone before securing. I had a leak and thought it was coming from the windshield. I went to Topperworld and they said to not rely on the rubber washers it comes with and recommended to silicone each hole, which makes sense. Save yourself some headaches and silicone first.

Ej Lacour - exactly how did you accomplish this? Did you fill each mount hole first, lay the rack down and then insert the bolt? And just an fyi beware of the eBay specials. I bought a Toyota factory "like" rack for half the price and it was crap. The mounts did not line up. My fault for trying to save a buck.

Just ordered and installed. Probably watched this video a 100 times. I picked up the kit directly from a dealership. The washer or nut to attach the pivot bolt on the passenger side was missing. Had to order the missing parts. Installation was smooth thanks to your video. Thanks!

Thank you for sharing this for all of us. I have 2 suggestions which caused me lots of problems. First, (and absolutely critical) on the passenger side secure the Swing arm nut with strong tape (underneath the bar) before beginning the mounting process. Mine fell out and I had to start over and retrieve the nut and tape it in place. There is a holder for this nut, but my nut fell out the first time. Second get all bolts started before coming close to tightening any of them.

Added mine yesterday. my advice is to not bend the bracket. I did and it was more trouble than it was worth because it misaligned the bracket to the rack.

Where To? nope. As soon as I screwed the front two screws the gap went away. Now waiting for a storm to see if my silicone works because those dumb foam washer desintegrated.

3" Pro Comp. Seems to ride exactly like factory. Think I'll go for larger tires (those are stock tires on there now).

Couldn't you have left the plastic over the screw holes and simply screwed though it?

I suppose so, but the paint all flakes off when the plastic is flexed and I was worried about maintaining a water tight seal with the stick on rubber washers.

Funny you should ask. I didn't notice any problems for a while (not to say that it wasn't leaking, but not enough to show evidence- we're pretty dry here in Denver and the truck is garaged) but it was at the back of my mind. So I hit it really hard with the sprayer at the car wash and did see some moisture around the passenger seat belt upper mount. Now that life has slowed down a bit during the Corona stay at home order I'll be adding silicone in the next day or 2.

I am not sure where to get it or what type of silicone to get lollll people have just been saying silicone 🤔... really weird to have an expensive product from Toyota doing this they are usually on top of their game 😕 haven’t installed mine yet it’s coming this week so I want to be prepared and do a one and done install!

Nothing wrong yet. I plan on pulling things back off before winter and adding silicone to be safe.

Where are you going to apply the silicon? it seems some say to put in the hole and others arent very specific and say areas that could leak.

So the rack I got left 1/8 inch gap in the front by the windshield. Not sure why its a toyota part. I had a leak on left side. Did yours have a gap? Any suggestions?

Did he just.....wait......painters taped the front to peal the weather striping away with a plastic tool but then used a metal screw driver to needlessly scratch away extra tape from around the hole leveraging the screwdriver against the paint?

Nothing to lock it to the truck. Of course with our plastic trucks these days you could also remove most of the front end without too much trouble either.... hadn't thought of that until now.

what size leveling kit did you put on the front end?

It is a dealer installed 3" Pro-Comp lift. This way it is fully covered under warranty.

I went down this rabbit hole w my dealer at purchase. They insisted the headliner had to come down for install. Thus justifying the $400 labor charge. Lying mfr's.
