In this video, we show what's the biggest size tire that will fit on a stock 3rd gen Tacoma with very minor modification. With the suspension completely stock, the biggest tire size that will fit is a 33" tire or 285/70/17 equivalent. This can be done with very minor trimming of the front fender liner and rear fender flare.
If you do NOT want to do any trimming at all, then you can go with a 32" tire or 275/70/17 equivalent. The wheels we used are Method NVs in a 17" size with an offset of 0. The tires used are a BFG KO2 in a size 285/75/17.

For those who want to keep the stock wheels: I have a 2018 Offroad at stock height and literally just installed 265/75/16 tires which equates to a 31.7" wheel; no shaving required and no rubbing at all at full turn. Like TT mentioned, I believe you could get away with 32"s at stock height with zero shaving/rubbing, but I haven't seen any tire spec combo that gets you to exactly 32" at R16.

Yup I put 265/75/16's on my 2020 & no issues. Then I got stupid & put a 2/1 lift. Spacer/Block. Every 6 months I had to get alignment & it had a wobble in rear. Live & Learn. I got 2023 trdSport recently & I may leave it stock & just go tad bigger tire.... Or I may go Bilsteins 5100 adjustable shock/strut set at 1 on front & Bilsteins on bacK. No block. So it will be leveled & not much different geometry then factory. Then I may go 275/70/17 on stock wheels. Shouldn't have any rub or cutting..... Lifted Tacoma's look sweet BUT it comes with a pricetag. Even if you do the best of the best be ready for issues. It's almost a guarantee.....2/1 lift did very little to MPG. Bigger tires WILL reduce MPG by 2/3+ MPG

Umm, thats the standard factory size on the Tacoma Trd Offroad. My 2022 came with those. Maybe you meant 285 instead of 265, since 265 is normal/stock size.

@@Eastsidegeorgiaboy True, stock width is 265, but my point was about the series, 70 vs 75. 285/70/R16 is basically 32's, but depending on the offset most people seem to rub going that route without a lift and cutting. At the time, I wanted to put the highest series on stock tires and stock height without rubbing or cutting. Now I have 265/70/R17, no rub

Your offset and and wheels (how wide are they) are a huge part of it. Offset changes how tires fit in the truck and how wide you go on your wheels will change how the tires fit on them, so it will also affect how flat or round they become at certain pressures as well as how much bulge you get on your sidewalls, which translates on the rub you can expect between the tire and the suspension components too. Always remember that the way your tires fit only apply to your exact setup (mods, wheels, offset, suspension components, suspension wear, specific tires, etc)

You need to match the lug nut SEAT to the wheel. "Acorn" does not tell you the seat type. I won't poke at you for your tool or style selections, but it's technically important to match the seat type - conical/taper, spherical/ball/round and old school flat.

I am not going to lift my 2019 TRD Off Road (Yet) but am going to put 265 75 16 BFG KO2's on it this weekend. When I eventually do lift I may just go with a 2in Front 1in Rear lift. I only Off Road a handful of times a year and the trails/roads I do travel are pretty mild. My old 2013 Taco with 285 70 17's with 3inch F 2inch R lift seemed to be a bit Overkill for what I normally do.

I have the BFG AT KO2s and they don't rub at 265/70R17 on TRD rims. They look great and more importantly the 265/70R17 is a common size so you don't pay a fortune for the tires. I was just over $800 for the set on sale at my local warehouse club.

I have a '23 TRD OR DCSB with the TRD 2/1 lift. If I want no rubbing, trimming, and no cutting or cmc, then what size is best? I want to be able to full flex/full lock with no issues whatsoever. I don't like the oem wheels, but I'd definitely want to stick with 16's and at least an 8 ply tire. I heard 265/75/16 would be 1 inch taller than the stockers, so that would give the appearance of a 3' lift on my 2" kit if I'm thinking correctly.

285's are just to big for a stock tacoma or even with a 2" lift. You can fit 265 70 17 or 265 75 16's. There almost 32's or go with some pizza cutters. 255 85 16's. I don't know why everyone works so hard to fit tires that definitely don't fit. They're heavy, they throw your speedo off, they're likely to ware parts prematurely and they rub. So just don't do it. Not worth it. You can off road with 265's. Your talking an inch difference.

Idk about this. A turn test in your garage is one thing, but actually driving normally on the road with this setup is another thing entirely, let alone trying to go offroad, Personally, I wouldn't run this big of a tire, in any case, because I don't want to cut on my truck and 35s look ridiculous, in my opinion. I think 32s are plenty big enough for this truck and they don't look silly.
