Majestic. Lovely to watch drivers deal with the quirks and difficulties of these beasts. It’s so much more about the driver knowing the car and how to get the most out of it. Love watching real cars rolling in the turns and working up momentum. Aussies know how to make racing fun.

I agree. I don't mind NASCAR when they race the road courses, but I really love watching these old muscle cars.

how can these kinds of races are still not be as popular as formular one? there's some serious shit going on constantly!
@mariusmglestue12347 жыл бұрын
because F1 caters to a wider audience, it's so easy to follow and understand. people who are not familiar with motorsport or people who barely even care can go watch it, they think F1 is better because it's faster. it's like how micheal bay movies make so much money, a majority of people are just consumers. like cattle they live simple lives, they don't care if what they are watching is interesting to them or not. people think explosions and speed makes entertainment better. "people watch F1 because they think they are watching an interesting sport, not that they neccesarily like it. because the cars are going faster it must a higher form of racing compared to other classes." is how i'd explain it in a short way.

Some of these cars, at first glance, look as if they wouldn't be able to corner or accelerate well. They have some great drivers too. But I guess with enough bracing and power you could make a Winnebago a good racer. Looks fun as hell!

Jeez... some of these things turn like solid bricks. It hurts my hands to watch. Terrible toe-in and cambering, even with all those tuning they still feel like concrete walls on tyres. Uuuggghhh... Not convinced, nah, I prefer normal GT cars.

They're also 50 years old.
@QuellastranapartediYoutube7 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your addendum :) yeah, I know they're 50 years old, I'm from Italy, there is a very active community of vintage racing here, with old european cars (given that we have so many italian car brands from the '50s and '60s) and that's why I was a bit shocked to see how muscle cars behave, compared to Fiat, or Alfa Romeo, or even old Mercedes. I wonder if they purposedly make the steering stiff to improve car instability, or if it is simply a matter of power-to-weight ratio, which is disproportional in muscle cars. I would like to see some "international" vintage racing on this, I watched some GT races with a Civic and some sort of Chevrolet battling it out like crazy, but that one Chevy looked a lot more nimble than these... boats? :D Any of the reasons for why their tuning is made like in these races is valid though! And I can see why it may be entertaining to watch vintage muscle racing, but still, I can't avoid noticing how stiff the steering was, and personally prefer races with more room for maneuvering and general less contact, can't blame the drivers if the things don't turn/don't brake fast enough :D
@Oscar97o7 жыл бұрын
I think it's due to the popularity of drag racing. The cars accelerated faster than their European counterparts, they just weren't made for technical tracks. And Americans always prefered large cars. The first gen Charger was just a mid size car, and it's huge. That gives them a lot of character, though.
@QuellastranapartediYoutube7 жыл бұрын
Yeah well, that must be why I don't really like much of this american car culture... I find those oversized boats hilarious tbh, but there are a lot of good examples even from the old days of cars capable of amazing performances. I wonder why they race with... ummm... these? Instead of cars more suited to racing tracks instead of pure acceleration/top speed. That being said, I find drag racing a bit redundant given the times, but that's just me I guess.
@darrylgaudron89186 жыл бұрын
@@QuellastranapartediKZbin - A lot of European made cars came to Australia to compete in the original series racing (1966 - 1980) and I'm unsure but I think you'll find that none finished in the top ten. Jaguar were the only successful cars to race in this class (outside of the Japanese entrants)
