I swear you Aussies know what you are doing with V-8 RWD race cars. Ambrose was a gift to US fans on road courses. I say that every time I watch one of these, but damn it I just saw a great braking move! NASCAR look at this. These cars with another 200 hp and modern bodies. I wish I could find rules for these. Weight? Engine rules? Suspension? These are not old school Trans Am cars. More like V-8 Super Cars with old skin.

Greg, if you go to the Conferderation of Australian Motorsport (CAMS) website the full specs for Classic Touring Cars is there. You can download it.

A Torana was a GM small car produced by Holden in Australia during the 70s and 80s. It started off with 4 cylinder and small 6 cylinder engines and then ended up Holden shoving a 5.0 liter V8 into it. It was a pretty potent package in the 5.0liter form.

Why do these cars run so much negative camber?

Because in cornering when the suspension travels in bump (compression) it gains + camber and the tire side wall tends to roll over lifting the tread off the track. That neg camber is a band aid fix, but the only one anyone has ever come up with that is allowed by rules. F1 has it to just not as much because the travel is less and the control arms are longer. However it hurts both braking performance and tire life. It's a necessary compromise until someone allows a truly adaptive suspension system which we can probably technically do now at the F1 level. People have tried them in the past many times. All have failed one way or another or have been outlawed before they could be developed.

The Mercury Comet and Richards Falcon are basically the same car. And again the girly power steering fails for Hansford, Steve J had that problem all of Adelaide!
