Sometimes all you need in life is a 116hp, 77Nm triple stuffed into a fantastic chassis with top-tier electronics and one of the nicest dashes on the market.

Great review thanks! I've got a Street Cup that I've become a bit tired of. Test rode a Street Triple last week. Wow, awesome and lots of fun. So now looking to sell my bike and watching reviews. Also was nice to watch a kiwi review!

I just had one option after 675 i.e RS

The RS makes 4hp more on the top end, but the R makes considerably more midrange, 8hp more on the R at 8.000rpm. They also found that the R makes 3Nm more torque too (from a comparative Dyno test between the R and RS from fast bikes mag). It's also apparent from the Dyno graphs that Triumph posted, where they also mentioned that the R makes more midrange, but they did not go into detail...

Hey bud! Sweet review. Street Triple R reviews are pretty rare, so it was nice to see another one. Would you be able to do (17 or 18') a review of Yamaha XSR900? It's between that and the Triple for me. Would be nice to hear a comparison.

Thanks! I can certainly try!

celz olsen I test road xsr900 before I bought my 765r. They are totally different in character, 765 is way more sports focused. Feed back from tyres suspension and brakes is in a different class. Xsr is still a great bike though, very fun to ride.

It's true the XSR's tires suck ass. You'd have to change them ASAP. So it's just the suspension and brakes then, and as I understand it, they are good enough for a beginner to really not feel much of a difference. It will be my first bike you see. Keep it in B mode and traction 2 for a season

Hi! Would you recommend this one as a first bike to someone who have just finished his MSF course! If you put the bike in Rain mode and learn it before switching to Road etc... Is the throttle jerky in low revs and scary for novice...How do you think?
@GearDriven6 жыл бұрын
Plamen Spasov hey! If you haven't ridden before or are just starting out, I would suggest starting on something a little smaller, just because the power output doesn't really change in each mode. These bikes will absolutely get moving and if you're not careful or confident it can easily get away from you. In saying that, if you really wanted to you could get one and just be strict on self control haha. They aren't as brutally quick as a sports bike but the torque is so strong it might catch you off guard.

There is also the 675 STR that would also be an option for you, brilliant bike even for a newbie

Plamen Spasov I would recommend going for the new Speed Triple RS, and then riding in the most aggressive mode possible.

anyone know the power difference between the R and the RS ... in terms of torque and where it is on the band? i don't care about top speed, more of quickness and power in low RPM's. Or are they the same in low/mid range? Thanks for anyone who knows.
@GearDriven6 жыл бұрын
Just A Man torque is the same (77Nm/56.8lb ft) but the R gets it at 9400rpm while the RS has it all at 10800rpm. Is that what you mean?
@KingOfBattle1196 жыл бұрын
So the thing is, the RS is tweaked more for the track. Slight HP bump, but at higher RPM. Slightly more aggressive riding position. The R model is tuned for a little more midrange torque, and more relaxed position. If you want aggressive track riding, get the RS. Normal street riding/canyons/commuting, the R is probably a better bet.

I saw a guy wear shorts, shirt and sandals on a bmw s1000r heading to the shops and i asked him why? He responded , " Its hilarious to see peoples reaction (concern) when he rides passed wearing no gear "

Hey man thanks for the R review! Like someone else said in the comments, they seem rare for this year bike.This one peaks my personal interest because the power band seems better suited for the street.The parking light thing is weird. reminded me of this Jalopnik article from a few weeks back. jalopnik.com/youre-using-your-parking-lights-wrong-1822884831

Yeah there aren't many R's around, which I think is a bit odd. Seems to be the sweet spot in the range imo in terms of cost:features. Ahh that makes a bit more sense, cheers!
@jaseamondo6 жыл бұрын
The R doesn't actually have the track mode just the Rs, just turn everything off in rider mode like you did though to unleash full hooligan mode lol.
@GearDriven6 жыл бұрын
Aahh I knew I'd get that wrong haha. Cheers ✌️

GearDriven no worries, I bought the Rs myself or else I wouldn't have known. To be perfectly honest I would have likley bought the R instead but it wasn't available so I just said feck it why not.

Jason Stewart oh yeah fair enough haha, if you can swing it the RS is definitely a good call

But does it matter as you have User custom mode? Can't you set it close to the track configuration?
