Wow, no question that this was by far the best motorcycle review video I've seen thus far. You mentioned specs but stayed away from only regarding numbers. Subbed and I am excited for a comparison between the 2013 and 2017 street triple.

I traded my Street Triple for a Tiger 800 XRX, I've done some journeys across Europe with both bikes, and ofcourse the Tiger was more comfortable. But a few days ago, I rode the new Street Triple RS and was blown away! It remembered me again of why I started riding motorcycles. Such a joy.... So you can see the dilemma I'm in. Going for the Street once more, or keeping my age-appropriate Tiger 800....Greetings from Belgium.

I completely agree with you. I bought 2018 xcx couple of months back. However I happened to test ride new RS. absolutely wonderful bike. At 166 kg dry weight, it’s a joy to ride on street as well as highways. Getting delivery in three days from now. My xcx is up for sale.

Missenden Flyer, I love your channel, and although I live in the heart of Harley-Davidson country, the American Midwest, I have always loved Triumphs. I finally put my money down on a new, old stock (2016) Street Triple. When I test rode it, the torque almost shoved the bike forward like a one liter V-Twin cruiser! That kind of power on such a light bike is addictive! Thanks for your videos. You helped inspire a lapsed motorcycle lover to get back on the saddle again.

Mr Flyer, just wanted to say how much I enjoy your videos. I'm a Tring boy myself, considering returning to the UK after 27 years in Sydney, and I'm planning to get a Street Triple. I was hoping to pick up a low-mileage 2 year old Triple with ABS for about 5,000 pounds, but after reading your review I see I'll have to fork out 10,000 for a new RS. Thanks for that. Particularly enjoy your road tests around the familiar Bucks countryside; amazing you can fit in so many with only 4 days sunshine per year !

+tony button Thanks Tony, out of interest, with only 4 days sunshine a year, why would you want to come back?
@tonybutton4075
@tonybutton4075 7 жыл бұрын
3 reasons; the beautiful countryside, the beer and the wry English sense of humour. Also, strangely, the weather. Sydney in Jan/Feb is often 30' with stifling humidity. This is not good motorcycling weather, unless you want to ride in shorts and T-shirt like the suicidal Aussies. Thanks again for the review; I see MCN agrees with you, although their review isn't as thorough !

Interesting Tony, thanks - I have a grumbling ambition to emigrate to Aus or NZ so this sort of feedback is very useful! Cheers - TMF

I rode a demo RS 765 6th May. So easy to ride, comfortable & the suspension is brilliant, so soft but stable. It's light. It's quick and tons of fun, a real hooligan tool. The fuelling is brilliant too, easy and smooth to ride in town at slow speeds. It's almost too good, too capable, too easy to ride. (that actually puts me off it a bit, that it has no flaws) Missenden Flyer is right when he says it flatters your riding. It is also so smooth with no vibrations, the bar end mirrors are great too with no shaking at all. I'm 6ft 2 and the seating position was so natural. Steering, well you just have to think where you want to go and there it goes. It handles brilliantly. The Display is awesome too. Cons. Still lacks torque compared to my F800R 2015 and I'm not sure I'm a fan of the rear end but apart from that it seems pretty much the perfect naked middleweight.

I agree, the main thing against it in my mind is the styling - I actually prefer the looks of the previous generation bikes....

Possibly the best real world review of this bike so far. I've ridden this bike and the previous model and Triumph have done a great job. I was impressed how smooth the fly by wire throttle was. I know this model has all the trick bits on to take it up to £10K but it does place it close in price to the totally mad and much more powerful MT10 (Which I own and would not swop for the Triumph) Also think its a shame Triumph have given the lower models less power, why?

You're more than welcome; I'm an expat Brit living in Northern Thailand and it's not that easy to source bikes up here and they are generally very expensive due to the import tax. I've sat on a few bikes, recently tried the Triumph Tiger and I was on the balls of my feet with the seat height being 810mm. From the information I have the RS is 820mm so my little legs would dangle lol. Took a look at your vlog for the RS instrument panel as well - great job. Have a great day mate.

Done go by seat height alone... you must try to sit on bikes as the width of the seat/frame/engine makes all the difference.

Great. I'm going to test ride one in Toulouse over the summer. Not intending to swap the Morini and I don't need 2 nakeds, but it'll be interesting to see the development of the engine since the first Daytona 675 that I had. Loved that engine to bits!

Another excellent real world bike review. While I was watching I almost had a sense of this review being on Tv. Like a segment from the old style top gear......I don't mean your review is old. I mean, it's incisive, articulate, informative and interesting to watch and listen too. But available on demand as soon as you post it. Love the Screen, but not sure of the styling of the rest of the bike. Compared to your 2012 model. The new seems more rounded, rather than the angular older model? One day I'll get your impression of the 650 v storm.

Did have my Tiger sport 2016 on auto trader, well I did until yesterday RS pick up Friday night added Arrow can, anodised reservoir's LED pack all round, short tail tidy and screen and mirror pack. Im actually surprised I have gone for it but its a lovely bike great handling and engine, it'll go nicely with the Triumph stable to compliment the Explorer for commute, The Thruxton R cafe for nostalgia and this wonderful machine.....for the ride.

Great review. I test rode the previous model and would have ordered one but heard I was coming to Canada. The only things I faulted with it were the useless mirrors and I found the riding position a bit cramped. Other than that it was so much fun. This really has all the bells and whistles so it's right up there as a contender for my next "big" bike. The other bike I'm considering is the new to come in 2018 KTM 790R. As I've mentioned to you before in our little chats I'm a huge fan of twin cylinder bikes and in my mind these two would be in the same league and competing for the same market. At least they are in my mind. I'm hoping you'd get hold of that orange little beast as soon as it comes out and hear what you'd have to say about it. I do value your opinion greatly as it's more day to day use of the bike oriented than hooligan all the time cocky like some other reviews here on the net. They're good for a laugh but of no great significant value imo. As to this new Street triple it does sound good, and this is from a guy who loves the sound of twins. Only thing about it is that it shines when rev'd hard, a concern as it gets you into silly speed mode when as you can get exiting sounds off a twin at lower revs, say 6k-8k and get a grin on your face. Still, must admit that that howl and smooth delivery must be addictive. Sadly they don't do demo rides here in my country as there isn't enough sales to justify that. These bikes come here mostly on order. Maybe I'll get a chance to ride one once I'm on holiday in the U.K. 😏

Hi TMF good review I've had my RS for 3weeks now loving it she's going in for first service this Wednesday and a new off road arrow exhaust can't wait 😁 by the way if you look under the seat cowl the is a disc with a slotted screwdriver blade pretty sure that's for adjusting the forks

As always a great review I have no doubt this is a cracking bike to ride. My only disappointment is the looks, it's subtle changes to the previous generation. It was highlighted when I was at a Triumph dealership and we asked if he had the new Street Triple and it was parked up in a line of bikes next to us!! We never noticed it I'm a big Triumph fan as I used to have one! I'm not hating them just saying. Perhaps a better colour scheme might help maybe Enjoying the reviews fella top stuff x x

I was originally underwhelmed by the look of the latest street triple , but, after much consideration of one in the flesh , it dawned on me that Triumph have pulled off a quite brilliant piece of design here ….. a naked street bike that manages to look uncannily like a sports bike. It's clearly intentional and very clever, but aesthetically its miles away from the brutal street roadster look of the original .

Great review. I did test rode one some days ago in winding roads that I have closeby plus of course the city and small Autobahn. I was gladly surprised (having other bikes but knowing well the previous RX). Liked the improved front end feel I could easily very well feel the characteristics of the Supercorsa SP tires that I also know from before. I did noticed the slight I say slight less torque compared to previous BUT you just go ahead on revs and it pulls. Light bike it goes quick and was very agile on my winding roads, comfy and liked too its compliant suspension (expected as stiff as the RX). Engine smooth and sound as we know nice. It left me impressed and I think about it often now trying to pick among some bikes (new fireblade, Tuono RR even Trux R... ) this made it hard :)

yeah now that I've been forced to choose well, i will let my heart lead the choice! :) By the way, it seems (saw it mentioned somewhere) there is a "coin-looking" tool in the tool bag of the RS that can be used to adjust the forks' compression and rebound, so there is no need to remove handle bars.

Hello again TMF. Just had the opportunity to take the new Triple RS out for a spin meself this morning (passed my DAS finally, woohoo!) and I've gotta say that I could totally live with the new looks of the bike. Holy moly it was absolutely incredible! Nothing like the new 2017 Monster 797 I took out beforehand. It handles beautifully, goes like stink and sounds, for lack of a better word, SEXY! However, I've decided to settle on the R. The Ohlins suspension and Brembo M50s are a little unnecessary for road riding in my opinion and I don't think the extra £1000 justifies it. Plus I prefer the paint schemes for the R! I will DEFINITELY be adding the quick shifter though - that thing is a MUST HAVE toy! Hope all is well! Apologies for the long message but I am BUZZING!

I was actually the first person to test ride this at my local dealer, I applied for the test ride 3 months in advance lol. It's easily the best bike I've ever ridden. I know that's a bit of a dramatic thing to say, but to me, it's perfect. It's got the power of my Daytona, but with shitloads of comfort, incredible handling and my god is it smooth. The clutch is smooth, the braking is smooth, the steering is smooth, the bike makes me feel like a rockstar and I'm not even that great of a rider. I can comfortably flat foot it, it's nice and light, thin, and I think it's also pretty sexy. Not to mention it's also safer with the ABS and traction control, has double the fuel economy of my Daytona, and has a quick shifter as standard. Fuck my life. I just can't afford it, which makes me depressed considering I've been thinking about the ride ever since I test rode it. If I could find a spare 7 grand, I'd sell my Daytona in a heartbeat.

No I haven't, but then I was never really interested in the Striples until this years model. They always felt a bit behind compared to my Daytona, or at least other bikes of the same nature. I can't really complain, I have a perfectly functioning bike that I still love to ride very much, it's just aggravating when I've now ridden something better.

Lovely! I look forward to riding one. I do hope a new version of the Daytona is to follow it. I fully expect it will given that Moto2 will be using the new engine next year. If that happens I will definitely pick one up as a track bike.

So.........yesterday I rode the RS and the Speed R. I have to say that I was surprised by how close I rated them. But I have decided to go for the RS due to its weight, it's cornering capabilities (it's so confidence inspiring) and the TFT display. I have been crunching numbers and for all the extras I want to add it's cheaper to go for the RS than the R or the S. So it has less Torque.......i can live with that. And it sounds soooooooo sexy at 11k revs 😁 I can't wait! Just have to wait for my nipper to finish nursery (January) Bit of a wait but in the meantime I can day dream about it 😍 Looking forward to your TFT display film mate. Ride to arrive 🏍💨

Thanks, lovely review. I can relate a lot as I also have a 2012 street triple r. However I am not quite sure what your taking about when you refer to the 12s handling. I have ridden many other motorcycles (no where near as many as you), and I think the 12s handling is sublime. I often take it to the race track and really keep up with the supersports and superbikes in my skill category. I haven't adjusted the factory suspension and I ride with dunlop q3s.

Amazingly good review, but I shouldn't really say amazing since it is what I have come to expect! My current bike is a 2013 Yamaha FJR1300 that I love but it is pretty heavy and I'm getting older - 73 and counting. The triple would be my first naked bike and the weight reduction is very appealing but I wonder about the other tradeoffs. I don't enjoy "time on the slab" but like to make occasional trips of 200 - 300 miles. I never have a passenger. I would value your advice very much. Perhaps an even dumber question: I notice the passenger pegs on the RS but can quite see where a passenger would sit. I'm not really concerned about having a passenger but would like to use soft saddle and/or tail bags on occasion - would the weight there pose any problem? I'm hoping your upcoming review will comment on how well the head lights function at night both on straight aways and turns. There are reported problems with the FZ09 headlights when turning.
@TheMissendenFlyer
@TheMissendenFlyer 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words Daniel, the Street Triple is easily comfortable enough for 2-300 mile rides, carrying kit however may be more of an issue if you're used to the big Yamaha. Passenger wise on the RS the rear seat "hump" can be replaced by a rear seat pad, so possible but not sure how comfy that would be for anything other than the occasional use.....
