Doug is playing in C6 D4 - 12 (SIT Buddy Emmon’s Set comes with a 17, but Doug prefers a 12 presumably to tune to G as an option) E4 - 14 C4 - 18 A3 - 22 G3 - 24w E3 - 30w C3 - 36w A2 - 42w [the number next to the note name indicates the octave in which the note is. In other words, A2 is the second A from the bottom of the piano.] Doug uses SIT brand strings. I'm taking lessons from Doug and am making these comments for posterity and stewardship of the steel guitar profession. Hopefully some kid or guy/gal in the future will find this video and also have this information to help them out.

Hey Stephen, do you recall the specific brand and model of the lap steel Doug is playing?
@scowell Жыл бұрын
@@michaelkiese7794 It's Carco's steel... funny name beginning with an A IIRC... an old collector item. Find Carco's set from the same year, i believe he discusses it there.. it's on my channel of course. If I remember I'll come back and post it.

I love Doug's rendition of My Home in San Antone at 1:21. Redd Volkaert did a version in D at kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJzdY2qqjah3rZI It's nice to hear the different takes on the same song by these 2 great musicians.
