Are all modern Volvo highway tractors standard with Ishift? I know someone who works at my moms store who primarily works as a truck driver and tells me A&S Kinard of York has all automatics and I know they have alot of Volvo VN670s and Volvo day cabs as their latest fleet. So hopefully Ill get to work for a company with either I Shift or automatic shifting.

Yes, the I-Shift is standard. Manual transmissions are an option, but few companies select manual anymore.

I know A&S Kinard of York has Volvo VNM day cabs and VNL Sleepers and someone told me their entire fleet shifts automatically but I think they use the former Kenworths for training purposes. I hope to get hired with A&S Kinard so I can get the I Shift rather then the distraction of shifting gears which I have noticed in CDL Training.

+Chad Remp its not hard on the powertrain? On a cummins, it's not recommended to have rpms below 1,200. Otherwise it is considered engine abuse. Even at 1,300 i can feel the powertrain is struggling. But this is a volvo, i've never had experience with one. Thats why i'm surprised

There are many engine options to choose from with the Volvo Truck. It's that delicate balance of pulling well, but still getting good fuel economy that most companies are looking for. We can build a truck that can pull heavy loads up steep inclines with large horsepower and high torque, the downside is the fuel economy won't be so great.
