I’m rewatching this. It’s unbelievable what Dawn Staley has done at South Carolina. In less than 10 years she turns an ok program in to a top program for female players and a national champion. Amazing and well deserved.

So incredibly happy for the Gamecocks and my girl Dawn Staley. But I have to believe that there was an excellent reason why Vic Schaefer kept the player that hit the shot to get them to the title game on the bench for the entire fourth quarter.

2017 first time someone not named UConn won the national championship because the last three years the title was won by the Lady Huskies of UConn in 2014,2015 and 2016 and overall the UConn lady huskies before they lost to Mississippi State had won eleven national titles overall

Since South Carolina's championship title in 2017 several other teams have won not named uconn ! Parity has been great 4 the game & the transfer portal has truly been a way 2 level the playing field.
