I am a middle aged agraphobic in the UK who had to give up on history university thirty plus years ago through no fault of mine. I can't remember how I fell on your channel but it has sparked up my mind. I love your videos because they have an intellectual self discipline and since watching them I have been looking at the KZbin Channels for places like Yale and other universities. I cannot tell you how grateful I am. You have got me thinking again. Please do not underestimate how far you can reach or the positive influences you can have. My son got me your translation of the Poetic Eddas last year for Christmas and it was perfect. Sincerely, thank you. LM

We are of Norse decent and filter through so much false information that many have given up on tracing our ancestors. Bits and pieces of what you say, and how you say it, brings back memories of what our elder relatives have said, words, phrases....Thank you... we are determined to become patrion members...brace yourself...❤️

I am 100% Icelandic, born in Gimli, Manitoba, Canada (although most of my ancestors came here so long ago). Not sure if you have heard of our beautiful little Icelandic town in Canada. Well growing up here in Canada, without the Icelandic language, although immersed in our special little Icelandic Canadian culture, I don't know enough about my history, although we are all pretty obsessed with out heritage, and homeland, and so you have helped me to learn some things I doubt I would have found without you. Well I just wanted you to know that I am thankful for your teachings. I would also like to compliment you on your way of speaking, you are very chill, and have a nice rhythm in the way you speak.... and you also seem like you are from the Rockies....very cool.

Thank you Dr Crawford for your wonderful educational and edifying work. I came upon your channel whist convalescing from amputation surgery. I have loved the sagas since I first read of them (along with Aesop) in the Encyclopedia Britannica when I was about 8 and starting reading the Marvel Thor comics. Later in life I obtained a copy of Snorri Sturlson's Prose Edda, I think a translation from the start of the 20th century, and have always craved to learn more after that time. Now I am like a child in a sweet shop (candy store) and own your books which I read with great gusto, entering marginal notes to remind me of things that may arise in my reading. However thank you once again and from cold, wet London (UK) I wish you a happy and prosperous new year.

If you ever get to Houston, Texas, go to the American Hat Company and ask for Gary, he looks and sounds like Tommy Lee Jones, and have him should you some 50Xs+. I had him make me a brown homburg that I still love and wear all the time. He has lots of doodads as well.

Highly ironic, that my first inclination was to mention that the way you spoke of the white tower made me think of an old series of books "The Wheel of Time", where the education point of the female witches is Tar Valon where, after being accepted (literally) one must work their way up towards what is called the White Tower and I always imagined the entire place as a cylindrical place with a winding circular staircase, but then you say that you tend towards dislike when it comes to fantasy novels, but teach myth and saga? hmmm, Another reason I would have recommended the books is because after reading I always thought, He must've gotten his ideas from Tolkein.
