I’m a tech been working on car’s trucks since I was 13. Learned from my dad and grandpa. Now I work at a dealership and 4 trucks have been bought back by ford, 3 of them I worked on changing evap case, gaskets, the elbow tsb, and still gets water on floor board. I live in sw Louisiana so it’s 100 % humidity and the case sweats and gets the carpet wet. Talked to ford for 45 minutes and OH THE CASE IS NOT SOUTHERN FRIENDLY that’s what they told me. All in all if the ac is on and they have a crack in the window the case is gonna sweat and put water on the carpet. Ford tells me there’s no fix for that.

They did my truck when I took it in for the PCM reprogram. Ended up having to clean the carpet and do mold removal because it had been doing it since I bought the truck in December of 2019. I didn’t notice it because I put weathertech floor mats in. When I took them out to clean them, I noticed the passenger side was wet. Seems to be fine now.

@jimmyhorton8297
@jimmyhorton8297 3 жыл бұрын
@@jamesplotkin4674, well the carpet isn’t supposed to be wet to begin with. My truck had the Ford all weather mats in it when I bought it, I just replaced them because I work in the pipeline industry and if you don’t have really good floor liners, you will destroy your carpet. I just hadn’t checked under them because I’d only had the truck 8 months. I check them every time I wash the truck now.

I went ahead and fixed this issue on my 2020 F350, even though it's not listed in the TSB. When I put in the elbow, I applied a small amount of silicon to the tube, and then put on a worm clamp instead of tape. I also took a pair of side cutters and trimmed off the little piece off of the bottom of the tube.

So, I have the carpet wet problem on the drivers side. I took my 2018 F-150 to my local dealer to have the 18S27 B-pillar insulation recall done. Ever since I got it back the A/C isn't working nearly as good, the carpet gets wet whenever I have the AC on and the condensation drainage on the passenger side under the truck is nowhere near what it was before they did the work on the recall. I'm guessing most of it is ending up on the driver floorboard and not making it that far. What could they have done to cause this?

I just bought a used 2019 f150 super crew 4x4 and paid handsomely for it. Had it less than a month and mine started leaking at the drain tube. Called Ford dealer I bought it from and they was so busy that they couldn't get me in till week and half later. By that time I had to drive with my windows down the mildew smell was so bad. I kept putting shop towels where it was coming in from condensation tube to slow it down. Customers for the most part are not at fault for "letting it go so long" like you say. When dealerships put you a week or more out to get it looked at, that's the problem. It's not like I can't take it to Joe Blow mechanic and he cover the warranty work.

@lakesautomotivediagnostics6509 well here's some things to consider, make sure if somebody was riding with you they didn't kick the bottom of the HVAC box and crack it and the moisture is running down onto the carpet Make sure that the vehicle is actually dripping properly while the HVAC system is operating in the Max AC recirculation position I had a guy with a ranger come in and he was sure something was leaking from the drain or the windshield and what it was was his wife would get in the vehicle and she would shove her feet up underneath the dash and she broke the bottom plastic of HVAC box it was either a ranger or an F-150 I'm not sure I don't remember and whenever the AC was on part of the moisture would run down that crack and drip onto the carpet all the way in the back by the firewall

You absolutely have to break and file the tabs off, otherwise the rubber elbow doesn’t seal on the bottom, and water continues to leak back into the vehicle. Ford This should be common sense, but whomever designs these hack job fixes apparently has none. If you bring your vehicle in for the TSB, be sure to request that they remove the tabs. Ford was supposed to update the TSB directions, but I’ve heard reports from other service engineers this hasn’t happened yet.
