2018-2022 Honda Accord hands free trunk mod install that you have to see to believe

Nice, thorough walk thru video! I just did this on my Accord and realized a few tricks. One is I flipped the strut so the spring/gas chamber is towards the back of the car. That way you can crank that inner, deck-mounted bolt all the way up. Also I switched the ball joint on the deck (front) side to be pointing at the wheel instead of at the interior of the trunk. This I did so it was more parallel with the trunk lid. Strangely it works just as good with just one strut so I didn’t bother attaching the second. I also think it opens a bit smoother with less hesitation all around.

I did this mod a few months ago and love it. I only did one the left side though and tested it out. It worked fine so I just left it hehe. It does open up all the way without any issues and at a fast enough pace. I think I might just do the other side too though when I have time =). Then again it it's probably easier to close it when just one vs two right? Hehe

I’m doing this with my 2011 accord euro but I have to get all the u brackets and nuts and plates myself and the struts are a lot shorter as my boot interior is different to your accord.

I really like the idea but the only disadvantage about having this hydraulic trunk opener is when you're trunk gets accidentally opened from the remote or fob.

The washer? As long as it’s not pulling through you should be fine. You can put your finger in and hold the nut. I actually did it. Just keep your finger on it and put the washer on and screw the eyelet back on. Since it’s thin metal I would put the washer on cause the pressure when the trunk opens can actually bend the metal.

I haven’t. The only issue was when it was extremely cold here it had a hard time filling opening. But that even happened to our pilot before that was only 6 months old. That is common with these shocks. Hope that helps.

You can pull it down but you do have to push on the trunk lid to close it since there is resistance with the shocks.

You lost me somehow after you first attached the bar to the arm. Then you fed that metal bar into the hole and attached that. But what did you do with the rest of the arm that was hanging out. You said you did something but it wasn’t clear nor did you really show what you did.....it just disappeared Lol.

When you feed it through you attach the screw to that nut. Then you simply pull the bar out which will leave the nut attached inside to the screw. The bar is only used to hold the nut in place so you don’t loose it. You throw it away after that.

Honda Jon Right now I just wanna give my car a more sporty look, don’t wanna touch engine and void warranty, so any aesthetics man, looking for a better wing, rear diffuser, side skirts/front bumper spoiler, chrome delete and some window visors just for that extra black to stand out. I think all of the mounting hardware will work, but I will probably need a smaller piston after looking at trunk size differences between the accord and the gen 3 insight. I think that is a 23” piston in the kit

according to the sellers pic on ebay page, the pic shows that the struts are facing the person opening the trunk but you have installed it to the bottom of the rear deck metal, any reason for this???

The pics on there website is wrong. I think it’s a generic mock up. You’ll get instructions with pics that helps. Its really easy.

When using two they are plenty strong. The added weight will be good since I feel it opens to fast sometimes.
