Installed these on my 18, I almost sent them back when I saw the drill part but I installed them without drilling the extra two holes and you can't tell a difference. I put some 3m tape on the plastic boss where the top two threaded inserts go, and the 3m supplied tape that goes around 3 sides of these is more then enough to hold it in place along with the 4 holes that already exist. This allows me to switch to something else one day if there are better options or go back to factory inserts if I don't like them. Installed both in under an hour, no permanent holes in my hood.

Hey Richard J how the Roush heat extractors till this day still holding ? Thinking of buying them and doing the same thing you did don’t want to drill my new stang 2019

Thats way too much labor for such a small mod. No way in hell am I drilling into my 2018 hood....Thanks for the video though
@thomashutson36816 жыл бұрын
I said the same thing. I couldnt do that to a $44k car.
@jp23x6 жыл бұрын
Thomas Hutson you already lost if you paid 44k haha
@thomashutson36816 жыл бұрын
To each their own bud, just making reference to a brand new vehicle. $44k is asking price.
@jp23x6 жыл бұрын
Thomas Hutson stangmode (I think that's his name on here) paid 48k for his 2018 mustang. He did one of those videos where you go to CarMax to get an appraisal...they offered him 28k and the car isn't even a year old. Moral of the story? Gts are not worth msrp. They're mass produced and you should get a deep discount without even breaking a sweat.
@thomashutson36816 жыл бұрын
I agree with you none the less. All I was saying....If I paid $44k for a vehicle (Mustang or another vehicle) Im not cutting holes in the hood. Ive seen the Carmax video, that was crazy. Ive also see the Dodge Hellcat appraisal it was undercut by almost $30k. Another appraisal was a collector edition Lambo was undercut by over $3M. Id take Carmax pricing with a grain of salt, they are a business and have to sell what they purchase. So dont expect to get a price you feel is good.

"This is the part where we have to drill the hood ..." .... hard pass.
@thefwenkmeister9725 жыл бұрын
4 screws is enough to hold them into place, use some good outdoor doublesided tape and they will hole without a problem, no need to drill more holes
@lucashaman10106 жыл бұрын
Not bad, but I'll stick to stock on this one.

Why does Roush feel the need to make products that almost always require drilling into the hood/bumper? Does Roush really think 4 bolts won't hold their extractor on the hood? Gotta have 2 more?!
@djwarren50816 жыл бұрын
I can't imagine that will be a popular mod.
@stevenp31766 жыл бұрын
If you're going to drill two holes in middle of the hood might as well go all the way and cut the opening to make full use of the vent size. What's the difference in the end?

it looks really good on my red car. i did't drill the 1'' hole the studs were long enough.

Great video, thanks. Question? After you install and nut everything up from bottom, do you reinstall that original black under piece to the roush air scoop? Or trash it... thanks Anthony
@AdamSVT6 жыл бұрын
looks good.. and great attention to detail. I was surprised they didnt ask you to use the hole saw on the inner rear stud as well. I guess it's not doing a tremendous amount of work holding the part down though.

Think i'll just pull of the factoy vents and vinyl wrap them black. No drilling and leaves options open.

I can tell you that this is a must NOT do. Drill holes in a brand new Mustang hood, to install a couple pieces of crappy plastic? SMH

The only advice I can give you man, is DO what makes you happy. If you think it looks good then go for it. At the end of the day it's YOUR car. Don't let opinions effect yours. 👍

Too much work just to install some insignificant mod! Why couldn't they just have some of the work like the studs and the double sided tape on so all you have to do is line it up and peel it but the worse part is drilling on your BRAND NEW hood...no freaking way man!

Great video, terrible product. Roush is an "engineering" company, but none of their products fit. You always have to drill, cut, or otherwise modify your car for their products to fit.I will wait on one of the dozen of companies that will release these and use the factory holes.
@brysonrodden51126 жыл бұрын
Roush isn't focused on ease of install they what the products to fit perfectly with some modifications to the vehicle itself.

Cheeze Whiz just turned into Swiss Cheese thanks to this mod. And it also ruins the clean lines that make the 2018 hood look so slick. Just went from "classy" to "a$$-y." Not going anywhere near my 2018 GT with this one.
