Finally a good video on the Q7! Thank you. I currently reached 107k on my 2018 / 3.0 without any problems thus far. I do oil changed every 5k and add a half or a quart in between do to engine burn which I haven't found a reason as to why though the Q7s burn. .. Anyhow I'm about to do all the same maintenance so thank you for this video! Did you notice any difference on differential with new fluids? I've heard it could start slipping once changed not sure how true that it, but I'm changing it. Again great video!

To shine some light on the oil consumption of the audi 2.0T and 3.0T. I had a 2013 Q5 with the 2.0T engine which had 45K miles on it when I bought it. Oil consumption was about 1 quart between oil changes, when I reached around 110K miles on the engine, it really started consuming a lot more oil, up to 3 quarts between oil changes. I started looking deeper into this issue and found some literature where Audi is well aware of this issue, they even had a TSB (technical service bulletin) in regards to this oil consumption issue where Audi in many cases would take care of it up to 100K miles on the engine. The problem is the piston rings not sealing properly and letting oil seep into the combustion end of the system thus burning it off through the exhaust. Really only way audi can repair this is with a partial engine rebuild by replacing the cylinder pack, liners and rings OR a complete engine swap replacement. Now I have a 2017 Audi Q7 3.0L with 85K miles and zero issues in regards to oil consumption but that is not to say that Audi fixed their known problem. Many people out there still have the oil consumption issue and most dealers would tell you that it's normal which is far from normal in my option. Vehicles manufactured in Germany for the European market don't have this problem, or it's very minimal in comparison to Audi vehicles designated for the U.S. market which parts are sources from many different countries like Bulgaria or Mexico for instance and are also mainly assembled there and not in Germany. So to sum it up, any 2.0T or 3.0T engine designated for the U.S. marked is prone to oil consumption for about a decade now and Audi is well aware of that. Hopefully this helps some current owners and future buyers in their decision making when considering these two types of engine made by Audi for the U.S. market

i just went and checked every single website that i could find talked with customer support and i was told the water pump you used is the wrong one for this car. 06E121018H is the corect one and you installed 06E121018K. i'm no expert by any means just taught i should point that out since i asked everyone based on vin (q7 4m 2018 3.0t prestige) and i got the same answer from all of them that 06E121018H is the pump i should buy. besides that thank you for all the other info. i need to do all this service myself

Weird, I haven't had any issues with mine except for the same exhaust pipe crack in the same place. I do have almost 160,000 km though.

Awesome work! do you know if the vw/Audi transmission they use in some Q7s is gonna need the same oil and capacity as the zf one ?
@PrecisionAutoSource7 ай бұрын
Pretty much the same process on the 6 speeds as well. They take 5-6 drain/fill, same procedure for filling. If you follow the procedure you cannot under/overfill.

Ditto. Welded it twice, then purchased the section off eBay to see if fresh metal might stop the cracking.

hey, i have the same vehicle. does it burn oil? Mine needs about 1L every 2000 miles. Do you think this can be caused by a bad PCV? Thanks and great video.
@PrecisionAutoSource Жыл бұрын
Good timing! Just added 1/2 quart after 4k miles( including 2 500 mile tows). That brought my level up to max. It was showing a notch below half before. Try the oil I suggested next time.

I replaced Pcv and check valve on mine. Still burnt a qt. of oil ever 5-550 miles. So decided to do a piston soak. I’m currently around 1,0xx and still no need to add oil 🙂. Maybe go that route first.
@GOOD__DUDE10 ай бұрын
Thank you Ivan and I ended up having my PCV valve replaced. So far I have 600 miles and it doesn't seem to be burning oil...Do you mind me asking what it cost you to have your PCV/Check valve changed and did you do it at a dealer? Also, was the piston soak a hard procedure to do?@@Ivan-pe9yi

Good day , does this transmission have filters or is just to drain and refill ?
@PrecisionAutoSourceАй бұрын
It has a filter incorporated in the pan so you need to purchase a new pan if you change it.

I have the same issue with my exhaust being cracked in that spot at 2:09. Do you think this is due to a bad flex pipe? My flex pipe portion of the exhaust and the broken exhaust part is shaking like CRAZY. The motor is solid no shakes
@PrecisionAutoSource7 ай бұрын
Yes...flex pipes go bad...New pipes are about $900. I just live with it for now.

My local Audi dealer stated that the transmission on my 2017 q7 is not serviceable, and the differentials are not serviceable. Is that accurate?
@PrecisionAutoSource5 ай бұрын
Not Accurate, they are very much so. The dealer will tell you lifetime fluids which translates into lasting until your factory warranty expires. Lifetime fluids do not exist...all loose their original lubricating properties over time. Even the manufacturer of the transmission (ZF) recommends changing every 50k.
