Hi everyone. before watching this video please read the description first please. I go through the correct way on the final oil level check for the transmission. Also posted the link to the video with explanation. Thanks!!!
@SinlowMusic
@SinlowMusic Ай бұрын
Great video but a few corrections. You don't need VCDS, you can check the temperature with an infrared thermometer OR any birectional scan tool that can read the Trans Control Module. Also, you are supposed to check the fluid/let the trans drip out the excess while the car is running and in (P). If you check while OFF you will drain excess. Just a tip for others!
@markb6s4
@markb6s4 Ай бұрын
Yes you are correct. VCDS isn't needed and any scan tool to read temps works the same. If I could redo that portion of the video I would of mentioned that. And yes you are also correct on the filling portion, read your other comment. Thank you!

@@markb6s4 The physical change out is not difficult.... my question is do you fill the new filter with fuel, do you have to have computer software to run a priming function or can you just turn the ignition on and off about 10 times to prime it? I know air to the high pressure side is a no no.
@markb6s4
@markb6s4 3 жыл бұрын
@@jimw3799 no need to fill the filter with fuel. Install the filter dry. Then you'll have to use vcds to prime the filter or some other device that can prime the filter. Do not turn on and off the car!

That can be risky to do it that way. It all depends what your out side temp is. If some one does it that way when it's 30 deg F and another when it's 90 deg F you'll get different temperatures if they both wait at the same time like 6 minutes. I dont recommend it that way

Hi, since the making of this video I have not had any issues. The Q7 has been one 2 12 hour long road trip. And one of those trip carrying a haul trailer (12ft trailer) loaded all the way also for a 12 hour drive from 2500ft elevation up to 5200 ft elevation. No issue with shifting. No strange sounds or not issue so far. And I am with a stock TCU tune. I would eventually like to get a TCU tune but haven't lately. Your very welcome. Hope this videos have been if help!

thanks for the video! I had myQ7 serviced withnew trans fluid, gasket, etc, from a shop...but problem is after they did it the transmission now has a delayed shift when I come to a stop. I took it back to them and they say the fluid level is fine but I never had this issue before. Seems like the level is low or something, it shouldn't take 5 seconds for it to shift into the 1st gear when I come to ta stop.. What do you think?
@markb6s4
@markb6s4 3 жыл бұрын
It can be a few things. They may not of topped it off correctly. They may have accidentally hit up against the tranny when it was open which may cause a solenoid to delay shifting gears. It can be a few things. As always if they did do some sort of damage they will most likely not admit it. Sadly it's kind a hard to trust mech. If they did the job correctly. There are some honest mechanics out there but itll take time and money to find one

Thanks for the video @mark_b6s4. For anyone else doing this job, figured I'd post the following from the service manual as a heads-up (I hope it helps): - Add ATF using ATF Filler Tool - V.A.G 1924- until ATF drips from the check hole. - Move the selector lever into “P”. - Start the engine, wait 20 seconds and then turn it off. - Add ATF using ATF Filler Tool - V.A.G 1924- until ATF drips from the check hole. - Start the engine. - Continue to add ATF using the ATF filler tool - V.A.G 1924- until ATF starts to come out again from the check hole. - Tighten the old ATF inspection plug. - With engine idling depress the brake pedal and shift the selector lever through all the selector lever positions leaving the selector lever at least 10 seconds in each position. - Move the selector lever into “N”. - Increase the RPM to 2000 and hold it there for at least 60 seconds. - Move the selector lever into “P”. - Check ATF Level, and fill

in all honesty all fluid will degrade with time and ware. Depending on how many miles your car has it may be advice to change or not to change. if you are with in the 50k miles its advice to change the fuild. if you are above the 100k miles and has not been changed it can be a gamble bc changing the fuild may do more harm then good. if you are +150K miles and never been changed its best to leave the fuild alone. @@shefkipajaziti1181 it is definitely a gamble. You may be good or you may not. But I would see how long have you had the car for and how did you drive it. If it was driven very hard in your time of owner ship or was it driven conservatively. From there you can make a judgment call. If you where to replace the oil and there aren't any metal shavings on the bottom of where the magnets are then you are good.

Changing the fluid at almost any mileage is fine. 90K change is completely fine. It’s better than keeping the worn degraded fluid in there. Flushing fluid at higher miles is not. Changing vs Flushing.
