BMW UK Invited me out to the Nurburgring 24 hour race, they gave me this F90 M5 to drive out there, I swapped this with a M3 CS whilst at the N24. The New BMW M5 is a real all round weapon, I cant think of a better, more comfortable motorway/A road stormer, also the info of xDrive hasn't ruined anything, it has just given you miles more grip should you need or want it!

Hi Joe, Great review. I borrowed an M5 last week, and spent the day thundering through the lakes. This is a serious machine, and the X Drive only enhances the experience. It just grips, and puts 600hp into the tarmac, no fuss, no drama, just boom, and your up the road. The tech is top drawer in the car too, and adds to the experience. I seem to bang on about this car, on my current favourite forum, but it just falls on deaf ears, but when you are in the know, this car is at the top of the wish list. Sure, and M3/4 is more nimble etc, but this sledgehammer will be gone by the time the rear drivers are back on line again. Looking forward to your full review. I often dont listen to the actual vocals in a review, but more look at the drivers reactions, body language, and facial expressions etc, and you demonstrated perfectly, at the end of this vid, just how this car can make you feel when driving it, and the pleasure it can instill, well done mate, Simon.

Great initial review and I look forward to the follow up. I was lucky enough to have my dealership lend me an M5 for the day a couple of weeks back. My thoughts are that with everything turned off in Sport 4WD the car was an utter monster and very enjoyable however I didn't enjoy the regular 4WD mode at all. If you have a chance to text all the modes more extensively please share...

Hi Joe, as ever love your behind the BMW wheel driving after driving a few Audi RS6's in your time is the XDrive as good as quattro from Audi as they are due to Launch a new RS6 later this year now that will be bonkers fast and I assume over 605Bhp I reckon around 640Bhp with a increase in the torque figure now will Audi spoil the party for BMW and Mercedes or will BMW still have the upper hand ?

Hey Joe it also depends on wich Autobahn you are, the A4 from Dresden (Saxonia) to Erfurt (Thuringia) is to 80% deristricted and less traffic than other. My Rekord for 40km (24,8miles) in under 12 minuets.

The brand that is all about widebody for some reason continues to refuses to widebody the M5/6 despite all their competitors doing it - also BMW need to lift their game on the ceramic option, how much they cost, and they just paint the base model single piston slider rear caliper gold lol
