Drive the M5 on the track, its a beats and not civilised. The compromis of sport and daylie is nearly perfect. Its faster in a straight line than the e63s and alot faster on the track (9seconds on the nürburgring).

The Truth I must say on this occasion I would agree with you about this current generation E63 S . For the first time in the history of the M5 I think the E63 beats it in all areas other then the looks! Both great cars but I would also choose the Merc.

The Truth No the point I was trying to make was that it’s not a fair comparison until the competition package is released . I can see he jumped the lights I know the E63 s is quicker but I thought he made a fair point . Also I’m not happy that BMW didn’t go with a completely new engine like AMG did. They just kept the same 4.4 unit and reworked the ecu a little bit....but I’m sure the competition pack will have the Merc beat and not just in a straight line .

Siddharth Sharma I have read quite a few stories about Toyota fitting BMW power trains 💁🏼‍♂️all slightly different facts but all adamantly sure the New supra will have BMW’s engines and transmission ( This is a cut from a article) Toyota chose the right engineer to head up the development team - the current 86’s chief engineer, Tetsuya Tada, who has been charged with balancing the Supra’s looks with its performance and pricing. Now to the all-important engine selection that was co-developed with BMW. The entry-level model will be powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo generating 192 hp while a high-powered 245 hp 2.0-liter turbo will offer beefier performance. Leading the new line-up as its flagship model is a BMW-developed 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder turbo pumping out a healthy 360 hp, with all three engine mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. With a very special limited production V8 to follow 💁🏼‍♂️💨I think we are going too have to wait and see 😁 However for me who owns an M car 🤔if I buy a car because it’s got an M car engine it’s surely common sense that it has a Bmw badge 👊🏽😉

I enjoyed the review-nicely done. How were the ceramic brakes during your drive? I have them on the F10, and the squeaking noise is so loud and chronic, it has me resentful of an otherwise great car. The dealership service department continues to assure me that the noise is all normal for ceramic brakes, but hearing the squeak every stop, all the way through the stop, every day seems ridiculous. Yet their stopping performance is undeniable, I’m curious If the F90 ceramic brakes were silent, tolerable, or the same compared to what I’m describing on the F10.

B Seib we hear you (excuse the pun) with ceramic brakes, but these were completely silent. No idea how they will fair over some serious use and miles but fingers crossed they have cracked it

Haven't driven the RS7 yet (so far Audi have loaned us a standard Q5!!!!!!!) but the E63s is amazing. It has so much more theatre than the M5 in terms of looks and noise. Interior felt special and the car felt rapid (louder noise always helps make it feel like you're going faster!)

The new "M5" is AWD, automatic and turbocharged. This car has everything that defines what an M5 MUSTN'T BE!

Understand where you're coming from, but... The AWD system has a rear bias and can be switched to completley RWD, the auto box can be controlled manually through the paddle shifters, and the turbos only add to the ferocity of the car. It's still an M car through and through!

The car is awesome, but it lacks every single aspect that defined the M series, so for me it isn't the same thing. Having tried an M5 E34 I can understand what makes an //M so special. The instant response of the N/A engine with independent throttle bodies is unmatched by any turbocharged motor. I will miss naturally aspirated engines, as it seems all manufactures are going turbo. :(

I just bought a F10 550i X-Drive with 50,000 miled and extended warranty for $19,500. Same base engine as the M5 and AWD. Got it tuned for $800, and e85 conversion. Makes 550ish whp and 570ish wtq. Has catless downpipes and electronic exhaust cutouts. All and all im in it for $22,000 and it's absolutely perfect. Near M5 numbers for half the price.

Oh no, please remind us never to say that again! The red buttons are your "M Modes" so you can set up your prefered way of driving in terms of suspension, Drive, gearbox. It's like having the modes on the steering wheel like ferrari, but these can be tailored to suit the driver.

For every generation of new M, we will read comments like: « the best ever made... » obviously 😂 😂 ! Daily ok but one important factor is the price ! 170k$+++ is ridiculous ! Aesthetically not that much difference compare to the previous generation. Yes there’s some, but not obvious like between all previous generations Not much difference outside with others 5 series... You’ll pass on a .$ 250.00 belt option, and get $10,000.00 option for brakes that’s crazy it’s a scam the std 16.5 in brimbo 6 piston steel brake work great on the track and the street, it’s the same price to do a brake job too $12k I did get the M stitching on the belts and did not get the carbon ceramics I also have the CP MODEL It comes with BMW’s performance exhaust. Oh just an update after 3k miles I traded it in on a Porsche 991.2 Turbo S. It’s a great car but was ok for me.
