Both absolutely sharp vehicles. but the Cadillac’s craftsmanship is horrible. I say this because my 52g ATS PERFORMANCE was deemed a lemon and was bought back after my 23 rd breakdown. On my second Lexus GSF Sport now and only goes in for Oil changes. No comparison in build quality. Cadi is better off going back to Coupe Devilles and Eldorados. At least you knew what you were getting
@KCMrecordings6 жыл бұрын
Al Pappalardi easy man, I'm sorry to hear about your problems, but I have a 2013 ATS 2.0T and has only had a radiator problem and the CUE needed to be replaced, both under warranty many many thousand miles back. Keep in mind, I live near Malibu where most of the miles on my car are hard, lead footed, stressful, enthusiastic miles because of the curvy canyon roads here. At the same time, my friend's Lexus 200T has recently started over heating to the point where he's looking to trade it in. I do believe in lexus build quality, but no car is perfect, and sometimes you get lemons from any brand.

I want Cadillac to succeed so badly. But I agree with your gripes. They are so close to living up to the Cadillac name. Its driving dynamics and supercruise still make it competitive but they fall short because of the details. Interior colors, wood gloss, CUE, GM parts sharing.

Jamel Moore they’re definitely not second tier, but there’s definitely “room for perfection” and I hope Cadillac continues in the direction they’re going because if so they’ll definitely reach that level of perfection and have the competition scratching their heads trying to figure out how they did it.

I sometimes feel like Cadillac can't win in the minds of many people. For $20-25k more, of course a Benz or BMW has nicer "finish." But, I feel like if Cadillac did all those finish options (which they are for 2020, check out the Platinum trim!) then I think the complaint will be "Cadillac is charging $100k? Who will buy it?" For $70-90k,the ct6 has been a stellar product. And on the plastic on the lower door panel, honestly that's the part that gets kicked, hit, and roughed up more than other parts. A soft, cushy leather would probably wear very prematurely.

Ive had my eye on this car for 3 years. When I heard they stopped production, I had to go buy one. By far the nicest car I have ever owned. It is the best looking large sedan on the road in my opinion. Ive only been driving it for 2 months but dont have a single criticism other than i dont like when the car shuts off when it stops. There is a split second delay from stop to acceleration, which makes it a bit slow on the jump. That said, all the power I would ever want is in this engine. what a beauty!!!

pretty amazing how well calibrated and smart the super cruise system is. this car deserves more attention. its not quite S class or 7 series quality but you get a lot of the same goodies for a cheaper price. I also think its a stunning car to look at especially in the platinum trim. The 2019 version with the new TTV8 will be a mind blowing performer. when you add the already lightweight nimble platform with 627 lb ft of torque and AWD paired to their new 10 speed transmission I expect ridiculous numbers

From the day I bought my 2018 CT6 Platinum 3.0TT, I KNEW I made the right choice. I started a several years ago with a new ATS, then after a couple of years, moved up to the XTS and loved both of them. So, when some nitwit (like the guy in red F150) caused an accident that totaled my XTS, I decided it was time to upgrade again. I test drove all of the comps you mention, (MB S Class, BMW 7 Series, Audi A8L etc etc), and I honestly felt like the CT6 was just more fun to drive, and for quite a bit less money. She's loaded, there is no option available that I don't have (keeping in mind that the V8 wasn't available at the time) but considering how well powered the 3.0TT is, a V8 just seems like overkill. You didn't even mention the camera driven rear view mirror! For me, it more than makes up for the small side view mirrors. It takes a few drives to get used to looking at a camera view, but once you get used to it, you can't do without it! As I said, I started in an ATS, which was an absolute beast from a handling viewpoint, but amazingly, with the magnetic suspension and the rear wheel turning assist, my CT6 handles just as well but is obviously a much larger vehicle. The Super Cruise IS very cool, and even though I'm still not ready to fully trust any autonomous vehicle in heavy traffic, it is amazing on longer trips when traffic has thinned out a little. I have diabetic neuropathy in my feet, and constantly having to start/stop causes my feet to burn like crazy after awhile. So both the Super Cruise and the Adaptive Cruise are both superstars for me, and I agree with your statement about "road appeal". I've gotten so many compliments on all of my Cadillacs through the years, but none more so than the CT6.

The more I watch car reviews, the more it becomes clear that no matter how good they get or even surpass the Europeans in many aspects, people -- mainly Americans -- will always nitpick and never be satisfied with Cadillac. Somehow for Cadillac to stay true to its heritage and silence the unnecessary criticism, the best option is not to compete with BMW and Mercedes, but to truly go beyond the reach of the common folk and compete directly with Maybach, Rolls-Royce, and Bentley.

The CT6 is definitely a step forward for Cadillac, but they aren't quite on par with the competition just yet. Some interior materials and the infotainment system, in particular, are still lagging significantly behind the Germans and also Lexus. That said, the rear seat comfort and autonomous features are class bests, so they deserve big credit for that. In any case, if Cadi keeps pushing ahead they'll eventually have a very competitive total package with the CT6. Great review Sofyan!

It is not really a “tweener”, that is marketing speak that Cadillac provides bc they don’t want to say this is their flagship. This is 204” long? An S-class is 206.5” with a 124.6 wheelbase. I’ve seen this IRL, it’s a full-size car. Great review, as always.
@johndessire3996 жыл бұрын
Law S This isnt cadillac flagship. Cadillac has confirmed the ct8 is going into production.
@davidfreeman30836 жыл бұрын
John Dessire I hope the 'flagship' escala (yeah I'd prefer it not being included into the CTn naming) to be more than a full size though. RR belongs to BMW, and Bentley I think is VW's, and Audi is obviously also VW's. And most importantly, maybach is now combined into MB. Maybach, along with RR phantom and Bentley mulsanne are almost the only three 'ultra luxury' cars. But somehow I've also heard the version that includes century (I think that's what it's called, used by Japanese Royal family) by Toyota. It's better if Cadillac makes CT6 even larger, more powerful (which seems already under way) and get rid of less powerful engines like the 2.0T, and compromise less on features to keep up with the 'full size' trio, S class, 7 series and A8. That way, Cadillac can make its largest flagship an American version of ultra size and probably ultra luxury car. I wouldn't agree that American can't definite the so called ultra luxury, although I do think it should be different than what's defined by like European, Japanese and all other counterparts from the rest of the world.
@deregulationIC6 жыл бұрын
David Freeman I do agree with you that caddy needs to step up their game, no more small flimsy engines, and a proper sized car, but i highly doubt buyers who are in the ultra luxury market, as in rolls, bents, and maybachs, would ever look into this supposed ultraluxury caddy. This car needs to be revitalized to compete with the big german luxury full size sedan trio and lexus now and maybe genesis if u want to go deeper. Dont make this a phantom competitor. It should be a s class competitor, and thats where i think it has a chance to sell.
@davidfreeman30836 жыл бұрын
Unregulated Market Economy First of all size matters much more perhaps. It can't be a S class competitor, but only a maybach 'competitor' if it goes into that size (more than 6-9 inches longer than S class LWB, or more than 8 inches to a feet longer than currently CT6). Thus, in order to avoid competition, the 'CT8' or escala shouldn't be more than 3-4 inches larger than S class. That makes it less than half a feet longer than CT6, which creates the CTS vs xts situation, which I think is a joke. I actually believe that it is the confusion of everything below CT6, especially the outdated basis of both CTS and XTS, or probably even plus ATS, is what caddy's problem really is. In this case at least one of the models is get hurt and wasted. ( If CT8 is only large enough to compete with S class). Remember, CT6 is already large enough. It's larger than MBA's SWB, so in their home Germany, CT6 is larger already. ( Cadillac doesn't have a SWB version to be sold in markets like Europe and so on).
@davidfreeman30836 жыл бұрын
Unregulated Market Economy And also, I think that the three ultraluxuries are all very weird, RR's dashboard is obsolete, never seem to be changed since 80s. I do believe that it is a break-in point for Cadillac or other competitors, especially in US and certain other markets. Traditions and 'classicalism' is not positively correlated to luxury and affluence (which RR put both together) in US, if not negativity correlated. Remember the richest people and corporations come out of high-tech in US. Maybach's pricing and lining up is very weird. The only one that I don't seem to see a week point is Bentley in this case. Of course, that way sales is gonna be low. Neither RR nor maybach sell a lot. But that's the only remaining space for the CT8 or escala, if it exists, unless CT6 is shrinked.
