i bought a super six evo frameset size 58, in 2018, for 1000 euros ( 1200 usd ) brand new from an official shop. I made my own build with campagnolo record UT crankset ( 180 mm ), super record 11s rear derailleur, potenza front derailleur, athena ( right lever ), potenza ( left lever, twicked ) ; and chinese carbon tires wheelset ( 25 x 30 mm, 1340 gr. ), selle italia slr super flow . total weight of the bike : 6920 gr includinb bottle cages, gps bryton 420, and favero assioma uno pedals. I am very satisfied of the bike, all comments in this video are ok : responsive, stiff ( even if you dont feel it ), comfort, race geometry. Efficient.

Great video. If you had the choice, would you swap out the 105 for a complete ultegra r8000 groupset?

Hello, I really liked your video to be able to choose one of the two bikes, excellent video. I would like to ask what is your size since I see that you use a cannondale 54 and how tall you carry the saddle. I hope you can help me regards

Really great review. What gloves are you wearing?
@ingguidesmedia
@ingguidesmedia 5 жыл бұрын
Hey Derek. Thanks much. You have a good eye friend, cuz those are the best gloves ever. They are Bontrager, but I pulled the tags out so I can't tell you the model. I just checked the Bontrager site and they are not on there. Gloves are 4-5 yrs old.

love the color of that supersix evo , too bad they dont make it in disc brakes, do you really feel a difference with both bikes, is the synapse really slower?
@stefanomancini6569

Maca thanks for the reply. I heard that the evo is probably one of the most comfortable race bike out there. I know the synapse is really made for comfort.

Hey Stefano, sorry it took awhile to get back to you. Watch part 3 for a direct comparison of the two platforms. Here's the link kzbin.info/www/bejne/bIDTYaaAn82mY9E. I wouldn't say the Synapse is slower. It's stiff and responsive, but your weight is shifted back taking away some road feel in the front end. The steering is noticeably less defined. The front wheel feels out there. Big difference in road feel between the two. I can appreciate your interest in disc brakes. A stop up to the ultegra range gives you a disc option. Here's a link bit.ly/2H1vKmO Discs have superior stopping power and worry free (melting rim or blowing a tire on long decents) Disc brakes SS Evo would be my choice.

Hey Maca, you're right on about positioning. In my experience with the two bikes both are similarly stiff at the bottom bracket (crazy stiff). Top tubes were identical effective length giving both bikes the same reach. The big difference is the stack height and front wheel position. Both are wonderful. Comparison video here bit.ly/2uOIbgc

You heard correct sir. The Evo is a brilliant piece of carbon fiber frame design and engineering. Uncanny road dampening. Very stiff and still very comfortable. Very precise, crisp cornering, but I never had it step out or over carve on me. Confidence building to know you can lean it over hard and push the envelope. Not the case with the Synapse. You can over steer it and the front wheel very suddenly feels like it folding to the inside. Do it on a downhill corner, and it will really get your attention. In my estimation the Evo is one of the finest race bikes I've ever swung a leg over. I suppose there's always something better out there. I'll let you know if I find it, cuz the Evo is my new favorite.

Hi just wanted to ask if you've opted for a slightly smaller frame set though your actual body height, you know for theoretically slightly better handling ? Best Regards thanks.
@ingguidesmedia
@ingguidesmedia 5 жыл бұрын
Dimitri Dabidin Hey DD, yeah I’m in between a 54 and 56. I opt for the 54 for a tighter ride and to make sure I have a stem length to get my hands over the front wheel. “Ride ‘em small!” Thanks for watching. Jack

Im still trying to decide between the EVO and the synapse, the colors of lower end EVO are nasty! Do you thing a Hi-Mod evo would be too stiff and harsh on bad roads? And too light in crosswinds?

Oh, I was just wondering what should I get? Aero bike vs Race bike vs Endurance bike? Since Aero bike wasn't being compared to in this video, so I'm wondering. I'm a slim, short and lightweight guy who doesn't do official race events, but "races" friends on fast group rides around rolling terrain. Thanks to your video, I know race bike is for me (and not endurance bike), but not sure about aero bikes. Some of my friends said I don't have the muscles needed for aero bikes and should use lightweight bikes, but I thought aero properties should benefit everyone regardless of muscles bulk.

Gotcha. GCN has a wonderful Race Aero Endurance comparison video. See that here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f2rQq6xqocxld5I Aero bike wasn't an option on this test, but we are working on doing one in the near future. Thanks much for watching our video and commenting. Wishing you great riding.

Could you fit 28mm tires ? Or 25mm is max? Thanks.
@ingguidesmedia
@ingguidesmedia 6 жыл бұрын
28mm tires won't be an issue w the frame, and I believe its the max size for the Shimano calipers, so you should be good running 28mil rubber.
