2018 F-150 Ambient Temp Sensor fix/passenger mirror issue, P0073

Customer complaint, no outside temperature data on display after replacing passenger side mirror. P0073
Not sure where he got the mirror but it’s not pinned correctly for his truck. Terminal 2 on chassis side of connector (blue and green wire, 5V) should land on one of the temp sensor wires on the other side. New mirror was not wired properly. Instead of de pinning his factory connector or cutting wires, we used the old connector behind the grill to wire our temp sensor.
You could do this at the mirror as well but there’s more room to work under the hood and won’t have to screw up his 22 pin connector if he decides to get an OEM mirror down the line.
This was a 2018 Lariat/premium trim truck. Can’t promise your truck will be the same but I bet there’s a lot of you with this same problem.

They cost so much money from Ford I’m sure a lot of people are having this problem getting the cheaper option. But it can be remedied.

So you took the plastic radiator cover off then unplugged the connector to the sensor there and hard wired the little temp sensor from the old mirror? The old mirror sensor is two black wires and the sensor by the radiator is one grey one black and one white with green stripe, how do I hardwire the temp sensor to the other one, as in which wire to which wire

The one under the hood I’m referring to was just connected to an empty connector. Don’t use anything that’s connected to an actual component.
