Anyone here who thinks this car needs a V8 "because it sounds better", I hate to break it to you, but this is exactly what Ford was going for. It's also a testament to what their engineers are capable of, in the sense of being able to extract more from less (TTV6 vs V8), and being able to produce another LeMans winner in the spirit of the original. Want it with a V8? Too bad, it would have required a total redesign of the car from the ground up, all because you "want it to sound good". And don't forget, this car wasn't built with you in mind, as you had to be selected by Ford to receive one. Hate all you like, but this is a prime example of when race engineers from a big company get free reign over a roadcar with little interference from the bean counters.

You're comparing two WHOLEFULLY different cars between the Ford GT and the AC Shelby Cobra. The Ford GT was built to be the most PROMINENT GT Class race/street car the western hemisphere has introduced. The Cobra was built to be the most BADASS GT class street car the western hemisphere has introduced. The Ford GT is built to win Le Mans, Sebring, and Daytona 12-24 hours and be the most potent supercar out there, The Shelby Cobra is a THRILL ride, with amazing body lines, and amazing power combined with a ultra-light chassis for maximum acceleration and handling. Prominent and Badassery sympathize with each other, but are completey different correlations in explaining how a car is good by the way. You're talking about two different goals from two whole different chassis designs. Oh and as for the Voodoo, I saw the car in action from TheDudeInBlue's review. It's impressive, but that's not the point.

A large portion of that money is in the suspension, this car is all about the chassis and suspension. I dunno about better than this. In videos this sounds pretty good (no Alfa V6 Busso motor but still pretty good). I had an N54 335i (e90) and it sounded ok, but seems like the more recent models have a more buzzy sound than a crisp baritone.

Anoop Mathew there is a big difference between n54 and n55.. they sound totally different. Look up n55 with a full exhaust. It sounds like a super car more than this does.

Never heard an N55 in person with full exhaust but even the videos i'm finding aren't super impressive, much better than stock no doubt but I think the of recent BMWs the n52 paired with the BMW performance exhaust (non boosted motor of course) sounds way better than either N55s or N54s regardless of exhaust. Just saying some other companies are delivering boosted motors straight from the factory that sound good.

the car sounds just ok. I was disappointed that ford chose to showcase their ecoboost engine rather than their new coyote when the v6 isn't really the spirit of the ford gt. a new coyote with its stock forged internals and beautiful noise would be better imo. if you think the twin turbo v6 belongs in a ford gt you don't really understand the point of it at all. a turbo engine is always going to have more problems than an NA motor and the whole purpose of the ford GT originally was to compete in lemans to best ferrari. The reliable, beautiful sounding, american, naturally aspirated ford v8 engine was really the spirit of the gt and I'm not saying its a bad car but it definitely should be called something else. don't say weight restrictions because the coyote and the twin turbo v6 probably are in within 50-75 pounds of eachother, if that. turbos require intercoolers, more piping and more equipment in general, which makes them heavier. the v8 isn't even that much bigger lengthwise.

hotblonc Sorry if im wrong, but isn`t the last gt supercharged? But i agree they could made a supercharged version of the coyote to fit in this new gt.

I love the way the turbos just sucking in the air sounds
