This review is great because you literally took the two cars and compare them side to side in a single video. Your video makes me appreciate my 2016 mustang EB even more. I was having a little bit of buyer's remorse because the turbo camaro seems to handle way better than the mustang. But you pointed out that the mustang has more trunk space and the 50/50 folding rear seats, that made my remorse smaller. Another reviewer below also stated that the back seat in the mustang a little bit bigger than the camaro too. I need that space because sometimes I need to bring people.

Apparently the Camaro with the 8speed auto can do 0-60 in 3.9 according to Car and Driver. And the performance quad exhaust adds more performance according to Red line review and Motor Trend. Doesn’t matter both are ultimate machines!

Yea I think when both cars were announced the Camaro time was with a 6 speed. The auto is faster. But when ford said the mustang was under 4 seconds that was already with the 10 speed auto.

REVelation 2K I’ve also seen a few articles which suggest the LT1 engine in the 6th Gen SS could be underrated considering you take into account the 15% hp loss from crank to hp getting to the back tires. I also know that there are lot of variables with dyno testing as well. Mustang is a better daily, the Camaro with chassis is an unmatched performance beast for serious driving. The mustang is a lot more easy to have fun with and mess around, the Camaro feels confident doing anything. Most people are going to want the mustang, as it's the easiest to live with. But on a performance level they aren't anywhere close to the same, and I'm not talking straight-line speed, that's not performance.

My brother works for a rental car dealership. They have the 5.0 and the SS Camaro. He says the Camaro’s steering is way more alive feeling and more direct than the mustangs is. And he tested it out himself in the dirt. And road. He did a few donuts and he says the mustang can’t beat the Camaro’s steering.

The Mustang also have blind spot monitoring . It also has adaptive cruise control which Camaro does not have. The rear seats which are small on both but better in the Mustang, headroom in the Camaro with the sunroof is none existing for back seat passangers

I’m fortunate in having a 2018 SS1LE and a 2020 GT Premium PP1. They are both great fun cars with the SS1LE slightly ahead based on track performance. You can’t go wrong with either one in my perspective.

Since 2016 camaro has been laying the gap sauce on mustang and laying it thick. 6.2l is a push rod engine, old school technology. Only took 4 cams, 32 valves, 16 injectors and a shit ton of revision to get a mustang to keep up. And they don’t keep up for long since that weak China transmission loves to tap out. The 6th gen camaro is a bullet prof platform and cheaper to build. Besides at the end of the day you can make your mustang as nice and fast as you want it’s only a matter of time till it dives off the road and wrecks. Ford has some revisions left to do, maybe then I’ll consider one. I’ll stick to my 18’ 1le ss. -Ford technician

Mpg matters to plenty of sports car owners, even if it isn't a deal breaker. High revving smaller engines making larger hp but less torque is nothing new. The LT1 burns less fuel while making only 5 less hp (within the noise), makes more torque, takes up less space, cheaper to modify (dollars per hp), nearly identical in weight, and is far cheaper to manufacture (more money Chevy can put in the car itself.) So what does displacement even matter if the results are the same 0-60 (4.3 is wrong for an 8 speed Camaro, some car mags got it down to 3.9). The coyote is a great motor and I like them as well. It's silly to shit on different means to the same ends.

Good job on your review. For me, though, as you observed, I am always going to be doing myself a "big disservice." The Mustang was the original pony car, and I wouldn't consider any of its competitors. I owned a 2004 Cobra "Terminator" and I currently have a 2012 Shelby GT5000. The 2018, with its IRS is very tempting, though. And, while I like the concept of a 10-speed automatic, I don't think I would ever buy a Mustang without a manual transmission. As far as the subjective goes, I just cannot understand how someone could think the Camaro comes close to the Mustang in the looks department. Still, a fair review and I would not hate a person for buying the Chevy. It's a great car.

Nice review... Though the silver with black stripes on the camaro is not a good combo, I think the stripes make it cheap and ugly looking. Should have put both of the same colors together. Camaro has a better front end, mustang has a better side and back end.

This was a thorough review of the longest domestic muscle car rivalry. I am a die-hard Chevy fan, BUT I'll ALWAYS give credit when it's due. I lean towards the Camaro for the drivetrain and suspension. BOTH cars look great! Although the Camaro looks good, I feel the Mustang's aesthetics are more appealing. The Mustang's always have an unmistakable aggressive raspy exhaust note! The Camaro DEFINITELY gets the nod for the interior appeal! The aluminum trim, pronounced stitching throughout, and higher percentage of leather coverage, head's up display, and gauge package look awesome! You did a GREAT review on these two rivals!

This guy overlooked two of the most important features regarding safety and comfort. The Camaro has deadly blind spots in the rear side windows, so steer clear from driving on the right rear of Camaros. The AC vents in the Camaro are at knuckle/knee level, meaning it can cool your right hand/leg awful quick, where the Mustang AC vents are at face level, where they should be.

It's smaller but also heavier than the 5.0 though so being physically smaller on the outside is not that big of an advantage when it still needs to punch out a larger displacement inside while remaining heavier and less capable. The true advantage of LS motors is price and simplicity for DIY upgrades etc.

Falcon 4917 The main reason the lt1 is heavier which also allows it to have better fuel economy is because it has fuel saving technology, last I checked the coyote has nothing of the sort. Look at the ls series all non-charged versions are lighter than the coyote. One of the reasons why is because they are more simplistic, unlike the new lt series. Otherwise we'd still be looking at very similar fuel consumption.

I feel like if I had the choice, I'd have to go for the Camaro. Not just because it's got more torque or handles better or gets better mileage (let's be real here, if you're going out to buy a sporty/performance car, is fuel mileage really a consideration?), but because I way prefer the style and looks of the Camaro. I've really never liked the look of the mustang after around 68/69, and especially the new ones. Idk what the best words are but that face just looks, sad, but the Camaro has always looked mean. I never really liked the foxbody Mustang either, and that's coming from someone that loves the 80's cars. The straight axle, open diff setup always seemed backwards to me, I get that a Mustang is supposed to be a cheap hp option that sacrifices in other areas but really? My old 89 Toyota has double wishbone suspension on all four corners and a limited slip diff completely stock! And that's an 89! Idk I just never really found anything appealing from the stang :/

Mustang looks better inside and out (my opinion). It also has more character to all it's design features. And the 5.0 does sound a little better under acceleration than the Camaro 6.2. The mustang can also rev a fair bit higher than the camaro. I have ridden in both cars. Honestly from the driver seat, you can't tell which one is faster. In a drag race or something of that nature, it would probably be down to the driver which makes me happy to see. Makes it more fun for us and shows how competitive this segment is. But overall, I think the mustang has more value in it than the camaro. Just take a good look at all the materials and neat features of the 2 and I know you will agree with me.

The mustang is a sales leader because Ford understands it's target buyer. Ford understands that rarely if EVER will the public, with it's speed limits and overzealous cops , drive a car the way these magazine associates will. Show of hands... How many people have driven their cars to the limit that the Camaro is actually better than the Mustang at? In normal everyday driving the Mustang is every bit is good and better because it's more stylish. The Mustang is just a better car for those people who want to be seen in a better looking car. Ford understands that that's why the Mustang is always out sold everything else And for those who want to drive like Clint Boyer well there's a GT350 GT350R and GT500 . So no matter what this video is saying at the end of the day unless you live at Laguna seca the most thing I mean mustang is just better.

Performance wise (read not straight line) the mustnag cars are disadvantaged from the start with the frod s550/650 chassis. This is the most important part of a performance/sports car that is actually built to outperform everything in its respective class, and those above and for less money. funny how the redesigned mustang is full optioned while the camaro isnt because the GT premium is an upgraded performance version so it should compete with ss 1le or atleast a 2ss with premium wheels and 6 piston brembo brakes if you really wanna make the comparison identical, but good review

Mustang started its domination run in 2003 when it launched the new SVT Cobra, it hasn't looked back since. Camaro has had some decent short runs at being best since but its just not be able to win. Since 2003 the mustang has looked better and ran better. I don't see it stopping anytime soon... 2002 was the last year camaro imo was no contest winner.

I've owned a 1980 Z28 I've never owned a Mustang. To me looks are most important. I don't like the front and quarter panel of the Camero I liked the hideaway head lights on the earlie Camero. I believe the Mustang body is more balanced. Like I said I was use to seeing the Mustang around year after year. The Camero was discontinued. So I believe there is more Mustangs on the road.

“Lasting reliability” don’t make me laugh lmao. Dodge/Ram is one of the least reliable brands on the market. It’s constantly ranked poorly. I know people who’ve owned dodge and they refuse to ever buy them again. I’d take Chevy over dodge any day but I’d take Ford over Chevy in most cases.

I have the 2018 Camaro SS. I chose the Camaro over the Mustang because of performance only. I love Camaro’s competitive driving mode and launch control as well as the steering wheel paddle shifters for the automatic. I intend to race the car so this was huge for me. Like you said, blind spot views and back seat is non existent. But I love it as a performance car. With some tuning, cold air intake and Borla exhaust upgrades I’m well over 560hp. The Mustang is a strong contender and actually comes out on top in other comparisons but if you want an extremely fast fun car to drive, get the Camaro.

Both of these cars are incredible. Preference will sell each, since most buyers are loyal to one car or brand. I think the Camaro is the better performer for track or street, But I think the Mustang interior is more consumer friendly. I am glad that both cars are so close because its fun to watch them go!!!!

I think the variations in spec from car to car make this "review" a bit unfair. It would probably be more appropriate to review a fully optioned model of both cars. Plus it felt a little bias when you gave the camaro points for the key fob and because there isn't much information about the Mustang's performance. Other than that it was a great video! Evan Nagy That depends. If both are manuals, last I checked the camaro is still the quicker car to 60 through the 1/4 mile. Mustang then pulls on the camaro once its past that. If both are autos with the mustang having the 10 spd + the pp2. Then they are relatively the same. But all around beings that the manual camaro is quicker than the manual mustang. The camaro is still the quicker straight line and road course car, because of the edge in the manual transmission end of the spectrum.

Evan Nagy car and driver always reports extremely fast 0-60 times, the fact that they used a Car and Driver time for the mustang and a Motor Trend (a more fair report) puts the 2018 Mustang GT at 4.4 seconds and the 2018 Camaro SS at 4.1 (both 6-speed manuals) means the Camaro is faster. If you like the car and driver report than just remember they said the camaro does 0-60 in 3.9, so its still faster.

Sorry to say it but this video is not equal cars. You keep down pointing the Mustang because you chose a model that didn't have the options that the Camaro had. At one point you say the Mustang had available safety features the Camaro never has. The Mustang should have got a point for that even though the model you chose to review didn't have it. This is like apples versus oranges they are not the same equivalent item. Also you can get the two-person memory seats in the Mustang as well. Next time please choose cars with same options or taken consideration the options that would be available to the models on both sides.

Ford and GMC teamed up to make the 10 speed. Chevy isn't worse for withholding the 10 speed in the Comaro and instead putting an 8 speed in. I'm certain the 10 speed in the Comaro will be or is a future option if not already.

If I was going to get a muscle car I would want it for the fun of driving, and not for the practicality. That’s why I would choose the Camaro. The space and practicality on the Camaro isn’t as good as the mustang, but that’s just something you have to give up for a more aggressive look. Which the Camaro looks wayyyy meaner without a doubt. Others would take a the ford for the practicality and that’s fine. But if you wanted a daily driver, there’s always a Toyota Camry 😂
