I drove a G80 5.0 recently, and I wholeheartedly agree - it's a beast! Not so much an outright beast, but if you drive it "normally" for a bit, then start driving fast, it's surprising how much power it has, and how it handles decently. I also agree, the ride quality is phenomenal, and the transmission is near-perfect. In my few days with the G80 I noticed the shifting out of first weirdness you mentioned as well, but only with Sport mode. I think Sport mode is just kinda weird on this car. Anyway, very nice to see your perspective on it as always!

Noticing that you get full torque on the 3.3 Turbo starting at 1,300 rpm, and for the 5.0 starts at 5,000 rpm. As much as I like V8's, I love low end torque from take off. Which would you recommend for me?
@CuriousGeorge11113 жыл бұрын
I'd recommend the 3.3T. I want quiet, low-end torque, and the six provides it. The V8 is more powerful on the top end, and sounds fantastic, but I'll take the 3.3T for the low-end torque, and take about 150 lbs off the front axle. :) So I have a G90 3.3T on order. :-)
