First of all: Thanks for great videos! so to answer your question: no! These videos are not boring, on the contrary, they are the best videos we find online, and when you look at the number of viewers you have, I think you've hit just exactly the right place. The videos are enlightening and they do not have the product advertising feeling one could have feared, they seem honest, and neutral. For people like myself, who like American motorcycles, these vido's are the best. Furthermore, I would like to say that it is a pleasure that you do not speak badly about other motorcycle brands but concentrate on the bikes you show us. A very important component is also that each video can be viewed separately, so that one can (in contrast to me who see everyone) - watch a video about exactly the bike you're interested in. In the long run, it is best. Thank you for your good work - looking forward to the next video.

Very cool bike. I had the privilege of test riding one last week and I really loved it. The clutch engagement point was off, but that's adjustable. I liked the power and handling. I still felt that Harley rumble that we all love (I rode the 114). I still love my Dyna Wide Glide & Street Bob for that great visceral Harley feeling, so they're keepers, but I wouldn't mind making an extra space in my garage for this beauty. Great review Matt. Thanks again. :)

I would have to disagree about the comfort of the seat on long rides. I bought this bike with the 114. The seat is wide and the angle that your legs are combined with the seat angle combined with the way the seat sits relieves any pressure points its like u a are sitting in the bike not on it. Its very comfortable. I've never had any discomfort after putting 5000 miles on it less than a year. The handling on the bike is far greater if you use counter steer techniques. With counter steer any bike can cut into curves. It places your bike on the inside edge of the tires giving you tremendous Manuverability. Anyone who rides a bike should know about counter steer techniques it can save your life. If you had to break hard into a curve it would throw you into traffic with counter steer you keep ur body to the inside of the bike while pushing the handlebars away from the curve places ur front tire on its inside edge giving you the ability to carve into the curve on any bike.

I pushed my limits on this yr breakout with the 114. It has antilock brakes. I have geared down on this bike so hard its locked up the back tire and never lost control. I topped out at 120. It has a rev limiter or somerhing. I've had it in 3rd hitting 90 shifting to 4th. I topped the bike out in 4th at 120 mph with two gears left. It can hit 0 to 60 in less than 3 seconds. By the time i shift from 1st to 2nd I'm pushing 70. Hit 3rd at 70 at about 3800 rpm. I can cruise on long tours in 4th gear with all the touring models or choose to cruise in 3rd so i can hammer it. I can be doing 70 kick it down to 3rd punch the throttle and just insane acceleration at 70 to 90. Hit 4th and I'm at 120 in 3 seconds. Its a great touring and around town bike. Its a drag bike with straight line power but with counter steer you can cut curves so hard you scrape your forward controls. I've had it over that far in curves.

I have 114 in black the dealership (Hannums HD) in Media, PA installed the stage 1 kit prior and Cobra exhaust. I absolutely love this bike. In the past 20 years I have owned 6 bikes Yamaha cruiser, 3 Honda sport bikes (still have an F4-i) and 2 Harleys a Dyna & a Springer in my opinion this is the best model Harley has to offer for the way I ride. You were spot on regarding the handling its something you have to get used to, no more quick turns. Thanks again for the great review & video. Kurt

Matt, I finally joined the dark side! HA! I traded my 2006 Suzuki Katana in on a 2010 XL 1200 C. Man you were right. The pride of ownership is much better with HD. It is an awesome bike. It takes off like a stripe assed ape. I love it. It's like taking the road with authority! I still want that 2018 Fat Bob 114, but for now I am getting use to riding a HD. - Another great video. My buddy had an older Breakout. It was a great bike, but like you said, it gave him trouble on long trips because no wind screen. True, except I don't like either of the two bikes with a 5 gallon tank and I'm pretty sure the 3.5 gallon tank is going to keep me from buying a Breakout or a Fat Bob. Some solid incremental refinements on that bike. Coming from a breakout owner, a nice stock trim improvement the motor company did was to get rid of those god-awful stock dunlop's. 👍

Hey Matt, I’ve been doing a lot of research on Harley’s and this bike has caught my eye, great review by the way. I have no experience on any motorcycles and I was wondering what you think of this bike being a first bike for a rookie rider? I am also 5’10” and would just be using the bike going too and from work which is about a 14 mile trip.
@MattLaidlaw6 жыл бұрын
It isn’t a good beginner bike. That being said you could learn on it. You might make mistakes on the bike like dropping it that will cost more to fix than if you were on a inexpensive motorcycle.
@saddle8bag7 жыл бұрын
Just noticed that in addition to the "torque at the rear wheel" being wrong, the HP cam makes less power than the HT. And the HT makes less torque than the HP. And that's not just on this chart either. It's that way on the CVO Streetglide chart too. They should fix that stuff. Not impressive.
@Jinbrge7 жыл бұрын
So I recently bought a 2017 Breakout and love it. I admit it is not a "performance" machine but style wise it cannot be beat. I'm sure everyone who purchased a Breakout did so because of the look and how it makes you fell when you ride it. The new Breakout misses the mark big time on style. Where did the turbine wheels go????????? The small tank is a complete fail.
@MattLaidlaw7 жыл бұрын
+Jeff Morgan Yea. If I can say one thing is close if not better it's the overall look of the old breakout. They still look awesome. The stiffer frame on the new breakout is just better to ride though. The M8 is better to. 2017 FXSB is still a very nice bike though man. Enjoy it.

Hey Matt, great review as always. I appreciate you covering the 107 Breakout. I heard the 107ci M-8 has a totally different personality than the 114ci M-8. Also I have a question that only you could accurately answer I think, being so involved with the brand and the fact that you work for HD I figured you may know: Of all the available 2018 Harley Davidson motorcycles; Which model and configuration has the best power to weight ratio? Thanks lol
@MattLaidlaw7 жыл бұрын
+Danny Murphy The 107 and 114 do not have totally different personalities. The 114 softails have the best power to weight ratios in the 2018 model year. The two best are the Fatbob and breakout. The 4 114 CI softails are very close though.
@danmurphy19947 жыл бұрын
Right on Matt thanks for the response! I guess the stock power to weight figures aren't of any consequence with so many ways to increase power on these relatively low stress engines. I was really impressed to see how easily the Fat Bob 114ci accelerated from 70mph to 120mph, no drama just effortless acceleration, seems as if the engines were designed to power a 3,000 pound car, like they don't even seem to break a sweat no matter how hard they're pushed, lookin forward to see your next video(s) on more of the new or redesigned HD's man
@markmcintosh70956 жыл бұрын
Danny Murphy I have a 114 fat bob and 107 sport glide and you will not feel much difference. Some people like the 107 better. My 107 feels smother and more snappy in the lower end. Can't go wrong with either. Supper fun motor.

You can tell the engine sounds good, even at the higher idle, but the pipes just ruin the sound. Would replacing them with slip ons from Cobra or Vance and Hinez void the warranty or anything like that? These EPA regulation pipes are killing the Vtwin sound that everyone loves. And if you get slip-ons do you have to retune the bike with something from Screaming Eagle? I like the round aircleaner on the 107, reminds me of the older fatboy my grandpa has.

You don't void the warranty with slip-ons. Everyone gets them. Yes, you will need the pro street tuner if you do exhaust.

Hi Matt, great reviews you do, I have spent most of my Sunday looking at them. I ride a 2016 Street Glide Special, had a Road King for 5 years previously to that. I want to go to a lighter screen free bike that is capable for two up ( yes I'm one of those heavy dudes you refer to in the vids, lol ) and am 6 foot 2 inches tall. Looking at the new 2018 Deluxe verses the 2018 Heritage. Will you be doing a review on either soon ? Rgds Glenn, Sydney Australia.

The deluxe isn't even being made yet, at least in California, the lights didn't pass DOT cert. I will be doing a heritage review soon. The deluxe won't be until next year though. I can already tell you based on what you said that you should go with the Heritage - hands down. More travel in rear suspension and two-up seating already there.

Hey, was the dyno sheet showing HP and torque with a stage 4 kit, did it have performance exhaust??? If not how much hP would it have with performance exhaust? Such as thunderheader???

ken Krouse Stage IV needed to match the 125 hp that you get on a standard 1250cc Revolution engine. How much does that cost?

Thanks for the review. I am thinking about the Low Rider. Since it only comes in the 107 do you think the 114 upgrade would be worth it? I do a lot of two up riding with the better half and was planning on being able to get an S model in the Low Rider for 2018 but now that's not going to happen. Was hoping to see the 114 in the Low Rider, possibly a mid season model upgrade for the Low Rider, I wish. Thanks again.

Hi Matt, i enjoy your vlogs. They’re very informative and fun to watch. I would however, like to request you to please have someone else record you while you’re riding a bike as watching the entire video from a POV perspective is a little monotonous. Also, the viewers would get to look at the bike while its on the move. Cheers.

Thank you for the comment. I got that feedback a lot and I have since changed how I film. I always ride with someone else to get the 3rd person perspective.

I’d like to know how this bike compares to the Honda Fury in the “chopper” style category.
@MattLaidlaw6 жыл бұрын
This bike is the real deal. The Honda is a Japanese rip off.
@Islandsoundzz6 жыл бұрын
Matt Laidlaw that might be the case, but given that the Fury is nearly half the price of the Breakout, I’m a little curious of how they differ in handling and performance. If cost wasn’t an option I would go for the Breakout without a question.

I would say this style is more Street Drag or "Pro-Street," than "Chopper..." That's why they probably offered the 114" in this Model...
