Routine oil change for 2018 Honda Accord 2.0T - K20C4 engine.
Supplies used:
Mobil 1 0W-20 Full Synthetic Oil
Honda Genuine Oil Filter 15400-PLM-A02
Purchase from dealer includes drain plug gasket
17 mm socket or box wrench
Cap-style Oil Filter Wrench (can use any appropriate style)

Excellent how to do it yourself video , if you bring this car to the dealership for an oil change at least one of those skid plates is not going back in the car , or tech will only use 2 bolts to hold them in place.

Danny P, I agree! My son and I both have 2017 Civic EXs. When mine is paid off next year, I’ll be looking for a ‘17 Accord Sport with the 2.4L i4 mated with the 6-speed manual...hopefully with relatively low miles. 😊

Good vid sir, but you don't have to remove the larger shield guys. 👍🏿The smaller one that covers the oil filter, yes. The bigger shield, no; it does not obstruct that oil drain plug at all.

Adding a little fresh oil to the filter before you screw it on helps ensure complete lubrication on startup.

First timers, the one section he forgot to show is important if you don't know that the oil shoots out from the plug horizontally and doesn't pour out straight down. Make sure your pan is ready for that... And have plenty of kitty litter ready if you don't. Thanks for the great video... Except for that missing part.

When putting the new filter on, did you use the oil filter wrench again? Or did you just tighten the new oil filter by hand? And B) how tight should the oil drain plug be? It did not look like you tightened it very much. Thanks!

In the manual of my 21 2.0 t it states 5.1 quarts not 5.0.

When I got mine (2020 2.0t) the warranty guy at the dealership told me that if I did my own oil changes it would void my warranty and repairs would have to be paid out of pock. Anyone know if this is true or did they just say that so I could get service done there at there dealership?

From all my research and that's a lot honest it is limited to the US Honda CRV with 1.5 turbo, the Civics in US not problem China yes. I bought a 2020 Honda Accord 2.0 turbo with 10 speed and you have to remember this is the detuned Civic Type R racing engine which has won many awards not your regular 1.5 turbo Accord no. Search YT on Civic Type R racing engine this is not the 1.5 turbo and the oil dilution problem is limited to the Northeastern US where people drive very short distances without warming up engine that's when there is a problem and on the CRV 1.5 turbo not the Civic Type R engine.

@@aidanobrien538 If you're oil level stays normal and just SMELLS gassy I wouldn't really worry about it. All engines have fuel/oil dilution to some extent especially GDI engines.

I guess the location and way to access to the draining plug are pretty much identical whether it is 10 speed auto or manual, as far as 2 litre engines go. I only know it takes 5 quarts for manual transmission but you have to refer the owner's manual for correct amount of oil

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I also have 2019 2.0 turbo in a Touring so I called the Honda service dept and they said to change my own oil its just one panel to remove. Is this true?

You'll have both panels to remove just like in the video. One small one covering the oil filter and the large one covering the oil drain plug.

Won't be able to, transmission oil doesn't get changed very frequently and most dealers would flush it using a recommended maintenance schedule.

3.7 is the capacity for the 1.5 engine. The 2.0 takes 5.0 quarts, not sure exactly how that converts to liters
