That is one of the most authentic video reviews I watched so far. As a 61-year-old rider of a 2019 Adventure Sports, I think you nailed it. Plus, I really liked the way you described the way it came to your pick and your self-reflection in terms of skill level and experiences. Great stuff, thumb's up. Thank you for making and sharing.

Fortunately here in Canada Honda has recalled the AS series for contaminants in the fuel cell. I was nearly killed on the freeway in Colorado when the bike stalled at speed with a minivan behind me. At higher temps this happened many more times. Not a fun Continental Divide trip. Retrofitted with the Guglatech filtration. Never happened again. That said, keeping my 1150 GS... Easy to watch video, thanks for sharing!

I own one with a dct for two years now. The only problem is, sometimes the dct "thinks" they where smarter than you and shifts up in the corner, when you just a split second before had manually shifted down. And sometimes, this bring in a little instability, what is for me a bit discomforting. So, when I want to drive trough the Italian mountain roads, I prefer the total manual shift option. Switch from D to S mode, go from Auto to Manual and then bring it on...that's how I like the atas😍

I own ATAS 2018 manual. For me the bike have 2 issues that will be it too tall and also too heavy. I cannot lift the bike if it fall. So I purchase Eastbound MotoWinch. Too overcome or compensate for tall issue I purchased lowering kit. Other than that I think ATAS is the best bike I ever ride so far.

I am 75kg with 166cm height. My bike is Asian Spec which is actually lower than Euro Spec. I think the different will be around 50 mm seat height. I believe every one must customize their own bike based on their need.

Thx for sharing your insights which I really can confirm - even same size ;-) As you did not mention, you probably did not have any issues with the fuel filter?
@globalmotorcyclenomad16913 жыл бұрын
well, do to Covid I wasn't able yet to venture outside of Europe with my Africa Twin, so the additional fuel filter which I bought (which pre filters the fuel before it even goes into the fuel tank, you place it in the filler area) hasn't even been used yet, it still sits in my storage space in the basement... and in Europe I of course didn't have any problems with dirty fuel yet, so the built-in filter has always done its job just fine. Hopefully all borders will be open again in 2022 and I can finally go to Central Asia, but who knows at this stage...

Great review but have to question your point about the height problem! I class myself as an "avarage" rider and at 5'11 with the seat in the lowest setting have never had any problems getting my feet down or dropping it at that matter.

I'm 6'1, but have more of a long upper body and shorter legs... on tarmac or level ground it's all nice, but off-road, especially when on uneven terrain, I do have to plan very carefully where I stop

Hey nice video, how are you recording your voice with the helmet on?
@globalmotorcyclenomad16914 жыл бұрын
There is an adapter for GoPros that I use, available on their website. With that you can use a regular 3.5mm aux-in microphone. So I got one of those in my helmet with the wire going around the chin-bar. You'll need a special case (I got one from Ulanzi) to house it all.

Hi, I tried the classic Africa Twin, with fix windscreen. (a slow one) and as soon as I drove about 110 km/h my head was terribly shaking due to wind turbulences. Is this "buffeting" a minor problem with the adv sports version?
@globalmotorcyclenomad16913 жыл бұрын
hey Peter! I find the subject of wind buffeting very personal (helmet noise level is the same in my oppinion). What's completely acceptable for one person might already be terrible for somebody else. I'm personally okay with the level of buffeting produced by the ADV sports windscreen, it's not zero, but it's not terrible either. But since I damaged the windscreen on my last trip, it will now get changed anyway...

There’s something called a fork shield which deflects the wind coming up through the fork column. www.swegotech.com/Forkshield-Africa-Twin-CRF1000L-stop-ADV-helmet-vibrations.html. I’ve got a 2019 ATAS, had the helmet vibration issue and this fixed it.

@@MatthewMackiewicz Yes, I've heard about it. As soon as the weather is better, I want to try this out. It would be stupid to buy a 1100 cc bike, and not being able to drive more than 110 km/H. After try out, I will add my comment on several youtube channels...

It is no problem for the beginner bikers but after u learn the wrong way do not ride any other bikes! STUPITIDY And Honda KILLS!!! Honda must change break lever and clutch lever position to KILL better! Signal and horn crisscrossed more disable plates!
