2018 Honda CB1000R TEST RIDE (RAW SOUND & WHEELIES)

Test ride of the 2018 Honda CB1000R.
I first saw the new Honda CB1000R at the EICMA2018 and I thought that it was one of the most beautiful bikes there, so I am incredibly happy to have had the chance to try it.
The engine is really consistent throughout all the rev range, with a lot of torque available already from a few thousand rpm. In sport mode it likes to wheelie in the first two gears, but never finding you unprepared (unlike the Yamaha MT-10/FZ-10).
In the corners it feels quite light and it's easy to change directions. Strangely the brake and suspension settings are quite European-like, being quite sporty. This is a characteristic that I really appreciate and rarely find in Japanese naked bikes.
Overall, this is the liter 4 cylinder I would buy right now.

Excellent video, actually showed us how the bike reacts to quick acceleration, hard braking, left,right switchbacks and two quick high speed runs up to 138-139 mph ( with ease I might add) The bike seems to be very well balanced with excellent brakes and a nice torquey Honda inline 4 cylinder !! Looks like a beautiful place to ride as well !! Excellent Test Ride !! I want one a CB1000R!!

Thank you very much for the feedback! And yes, you are completely right. It’s a very “European” bike on this matter. Stiff suspension, reactive brakes, quick in the direction changes. The engine is perfectly tuned for this kind of road use, it’s the best inline 4 I have tried (I love V-Twins, so I may be biased in this direction).

Finally someone is showing the true potential of this bike. KZbin is full of wackos knowing nothing about this bike. Own it and its absolutely thrilling, aggressive and of course quick and fast. Made my decision after test riding mt10, z1000 and monster. Great bikes but I loved this one. I don't understand how people ride not to know how good is this machine. sometimes I like people being in dark because then I wanna see their jaw dropped.

I have tried the Yamaha, and like this much more. Aesthetics are subjective, but I think this is more classy. The ride of this is much more firm, so you have more control of the bike (almost like European bikes) and the engine does not constantly try to kill you, it much more manageable and fun to ride

Il motore della Honda è più lineare. Cerca meno di ucciderti e ha un’ottima coppia ai bassi. La Honda ha anche, a mio parere, una ciclistica molto più divertente e reattiva. In generale ho preferito la Honda, se non si è capito. Anche a livello di design.

Allora, partendo dal presupposto che sono un Ducatista nel sangue, ti dico che è una moto fantastica questa qui. Ha le sospensioni abbastanza sportive per essere una naked, quasi quanto un Monster, e ottimo freni. La differenza che sentirai di più rispetto alla r6 è la coppia in basso ottima (per essere un 4 cilindri) e la posizione di guida dritta. Però si, te la consiglio molto

I had tried the 2010 CB1000 and I had figured it wasn't my style in what concerned the setup. I had a Monster 696 at the time and had felt the suspensions too soft and the braking not as strong and direct (it is also true that I had little to no experience). I loved this one because it's much more "European" in what concerns the setup: firm suspensions and strong braking. Much sportier.

It's obviously a step up, it's a higher tier bike, like the MT-10. As I write in the brief description, apart from the engine, I liked the suspension settings of the CB a lot more than its Japanese counterparts: more stable and precise.

I chickened out at around 240, but I think it has at least another 20 kph to give. I was in 5th gear with still some rpm to go, and 6th gear is not boring at all. I’m sorry I can’t give you a definitive answer apart from ‘it’s fast enough’ 😂

No problem at all, but consider that 1: the speedo usually gives a higher speed for legal reasons (on my monster it's 5% more, as the owner's manual says) and 2: I might be wrong

Looks like the wind blast gets pretty bad at around 200ks. and on that bike I guess a windscreen would look awful.

Yeah, as with all naked bikes you have to choose between scarce wind protection and an ugly windscreen

well there are only two other models the first, which looked a lot more like this, then the 2nd. which had Honda's triangle headlight thing and wasn't that great... This is a true successor though.

The ybr125, like most budget 125s, has marshmallow rear suspension and skinny tires, I don't dare corner hard on them either. As soon as you try a larger bike you'll find cornering much easier, despite (in fact, partly because of) their weight. They have wider tires, lower centre of gravity and more stability.

Between the Suzuki GSX-S 1000, and the Honda CB1000R, which one you think as the best and more powerful engine?

On paper the Suzuki has a bit more power, but I have never driven it. They both are top tier naked bikes, so it really depends on aesthetics and how they ride. I'm sorry I can't help you more. Cheers!

I have tested the Suzuki, and i loved its power, suspension and handling, i'm trying to test the Honda, but in Portugal there's not a single bike available for test. I think the Honda is more beautiful and has better build quality and finishing details. Thanks for your answer. Greetings from Portugal

If you have ridden the old one then you will know how this is, the new cb1000r is after all still using pretty much the same frame and engine as the old cb1000r but with newer gizmos on and of course with new fantastic cosmetics. But it will be quite similar handling wise as the old cb100r.

This is an awesome Bike, loving it. Super smooth engine, fast and nimble. I also love the ducati monster 1200 s but enginewhise i would prefer the smothness of Hondas inline four.
