We looked at the Equinox but didn't even bother taking it out for a test drive, it's that old fashioned inside and out. The Honda dealers were so obnoxious we ended up walking away and buying a new CX-5 Diesel . Great car.

I do not like SUVs, but GMC Acadia looks more beautiful than these two for me. I really enjoyed Tom Baker's evaluation. I think it was really cool he mention that Equinox is a Chevrolet vehicle despite being called Holden locally. Congratulations.

Another great comparison Tom! Any plans to do a hot hatch comparison for under $60k? I feel like the segment is getting more and more competitive and with cars like the M140i dropping to $59,990 and and AWD options like the Gold R and Focus RS are better than ever... Sorry if this off topic, just watched your Golf R review and realised how closely priced a lot of these cars are getting!

And i definitely agree how the interior quality of the equinox could be better and how the CR-V’s refinement could be better because I’ve sat in one and when we were on the highway, it was about as noisy as $20 000 kia rio and the honda is 2 times the price so i wasn’t impressed by that, but i did end up buying a CR-V vti lx as we got an amazing deal on one ($42 000 drive away was the price).

Chasing Cars after living with the car, i have gotten over the noisy cabin and i’am quite enjoying it after a while as it is quite good in almost every other way apart from a small screen in the center console and not much under thigh support in the rear.

Oh and I forgot to mention, the cr v deserves a more powerful engine in my opinion so that’s another problem for me.

why do people keep comparing the 7 seat crv with 5 seaters? why not compare the roomy 5 seat crv?

Hi Ben, I think it's because the seven seat option of the CR-V's trump card over the five-seat SUVs in this class. The extra seating and practicality is an upside, rather than a downside.
