I think this is a very timely video, with so many new EVs coming to market starting at circa 40K and rising well into the 50s with options. IIRC, a decent spec Ioniq 5 is 48K, a decent spec EV6 is 52K, and a decent spec Nissan Ariya is 58k. You had been able to get a used I-Pace for mid-30s. Now they start at 40K. I had heard they had gremlins, but apparently not really. That's good to know, and makes me think I'd rather have a used I-Pace than one of the new offerings. I agree it still looks fresh, four to five years on. And I don't know if that will be the case for the aforementioned new cars. The power of the I-Pace is also something that's still impressive. And range is decent. Nonetheless, I thought the Model Y would have been the way to go, with Tesla's network and all that. But it has unresolved ride quality issues that count it out for me. And there is no RWD version, like with the Model 3, so the starting price is 55K. Consequently, I think the I-Pace comes back into serious consideration on the proviso that one avoids 21-22" wheels, as noted in this vid. Thank you Vicky and CarGurus for another good and unique review.

I saw my first real life ipace, in the flesh, so to speak, the other day, and I was absolutely astonished by how small they are. I'd always imagined them as being around the same size as a Range Rover, but they're really small. Beautiful, but so surprisingly small.

Well said. What a drivers car especially for an EV. I’ve had my I Pace S In White with the Black Pack, Pan Roof & 22” Diamond Cut Alloys without air suspension for 2 years and I cannot fault it! I’ve never drove one with air suspension & as for owning one without & with the 22” alloys that Vicky says to avoid…. I cannot fault the ride in the slightest and for looks…… there is nothing with a more aggressive side profile than an I Pace with 22” alloys and no driving faults whatsoever despite no air suspension 👍😁

I absolutely loved the i-Pace Hyundai hired for me while out Ioniq was waiting for a replacement part. In the 6 weeks we had it, it changed my mind about purchasing a Jag, especially hearing they are somewhat more reliable than their ICE models. Certainly a car I’d consider in the future.

good news for anyone interest in used Jaguar i-Pace, there was a step price drop the last 6 month (also the case for Audi e-Tron by the way). And I just purchased a 2019 HSE First Edition* for 35% of the original price (ie 65% discount), with 12 month guarantee and 4 new alloy wheel + new winter tires. I was told by the local JLR dealer here in Switzerland that the price drop was due a flood (relatively speaking as they were never really popular) of cars coming of lease, too much for the market to absorb, hence the price drop. He also told me they were taking a steep loss and the sale price was well below the lease residual value. While this is the situation in Switzerland I heard it’s the same in the UK and probably some others countries * First Edition is an HSE with ca 6-7 k options, a loaded car with most available options

Good review, however there are no 19" or 21" factory wheel options for the i-Pace. Only 18" (UGLY, but best range), 20" (most practical, and good balance between looks and range), and 22 (stunning to look at, worth it for most people not range sensitive).

Have to agree the ipace is somewhat special in the EV world its styling and interior are great and Jaguar really did a supreme job with the handling and driving experience. Having driven an ICE Jag and the Ipace I was so glad to see that it didn't loose that Jaguar feel and connection to the road that thir ICE models have.

Back in 2018, when I ordered my I-PACE, the price list in the Netherlands was kind of weird. I hope to keep it for many more years.

Facelift is the one, better infotainment, ClearSight rear view mirror/ camera and finally 40:20:40 split rear seats as opposed to pre-facelift’s archaic and less useable 60:40 split rear seats Sadly it doesn’t come with the 18 inch wheels tho anymore and they’re worth finding or buy some from JLR and it increase comfort and range too !!! The reason it’s so well built compared to the rest of the JLR products is down to the Austrians at Magna 🇦🇹 Not quite as good as the Porsche Taycan Cross Tourismo 4S, but at half the price fully loaded, there’s a lot of stuff you can do with the other £75k Best EV 🚙👍🏻

It was (and is) a stunning design and achievement. I am so surprised that it did not sell better here in the states. I just don't see them around as much I as would like. So much better looking (and driving) than the Model Y (and X), people just don't know what they have been missing by not considering the I-Pace as an option. The packaging was extremely well executed and remains one of the few EVs that gives Tesla some competition in that department. They look especially gorgeous with the top-trim wheel package and in red!

This was a very good and, in my experience, accurate review. We had two iPaces in the company I worked for previously. Sadly, I didn't drive one myself, but was a passenger in both iPaces a number of times, so can't give a view on the car's handling. What I can say is that the interior was nicely designed and felt well built. However, the ride was crashy and the rear passenger room quite cramped for the size of the car. Two averaged size people would be ok, but three abreast very uncomfortable. Also, as Vicky said, the iPace is really a slightly raised large hatchback and not really an SUV!

having test drive it for 2 hours I completely agree but I’m put off with fact that to DC charge 10-80% is more like 40 minutes instead of 20-25 with the Kia EV6, Audi e-Tron & Tesla Y also Jaguar has no deal with Ionity so holiday driving will cost as with a V8
@benwilliamson12 жыл бұрын
Unless there has been a mid life update, I'm fairly certain the iPace cannot accept charge at more than 50kw, even if you find a 100kw or 150kw charger. So, motorway journeys do require a long stop when filling up a 90kwh battery. Other than that, regarding options, heated seats are not standard on all trim levels but can be specified. Try to find one with that option, as not only will it be much more pleasant in winter than sitting on ice cold leather, but seat warmers use less energy than full cabin heating, saving range in the process. Finally, regarding range, ignore the WLTP 290 miles. It's 220 ish in the UK summer and 150 in winter. All of this from 2 years' ownership experience. Otherwise, a very, very good car.
@bruintoo2 жыл бұрын

@benwilliamson12 жыл бұрын
@@bruintoo Thanks for your valued input. It seems that these higher speeds are indeed achievable then, but I personally have never seen them. I'd suggest that any prospective owners have a good read of the Jaguar forums about charging speeds as not many achieve the claimed maximum consistently, and this could be relevant to those who might make frequent longer journeys.

I think if jaguar hadnt done the jag trick of grandad styled wheels on the lower models and when i say grandad they could of gone on a 2003 xj and looked right They make the lower models look so low rent but then you cant justify its quality for the high price versions so doesnt sell well new Now though as its still got good charging and range specs for most drivers as a used option it does make more of a compelling case….just get one with nicer wheels

£25 to £27k now for a 2020 model! Bargain. You can buy an ex PCP Jaguar ipace with service history around 35,000 miles 1 year warranty, Mot and serviced for £25 to £27k for the S £28 to £30k for the HS and HSE depending on mileage. I think this car makes a great used option. I recommend the smallest 18” wheel fro comfort and range or the HSE with hydronic suspension. If you got for the s with 18” wheel opt for black rims and the look improves. I got rid of my tesla model 3 because it was simply killing my back, the ipace on 18” wheel or air suspension is a lot better IMO.
@UKTonyMagill Жыл бұрын
I agree the iPace is now a used bargain. However, for the price range you mentioned, you can get a 2021 model 3. I'm torn between the two. Is the ride of the Tesla that bad, and don't you miss its range?
@cameraramblings4107 Жыл бұрын
So i had the standard range model 3. If you do decide to go for one I would say it’s a great car, however, i got rid of mine because 80% of my driving is London based within the M25 and the model 3 destroyed my back! I didn’t have a reason to sell other than the ride comfort. I know on some higher end models you get air suspension and I believe the 2023 model 3 now has a slightly better setup. Range on the model 3 I had was averaging 210 on a full charge. With the ipace and my driving style I’m getting around 260 during summer months. I would expect that to be 200 on a motorway and less during winter so I’m expecting 220 during winter. The Ipace I would go for would be the HSE if you can afford it for the Air suspension. If you opt for the S as i did that’s fine, however I would recommend the 18” alloys in black. That way the wheels don’t look too small as it all blends in. When I’m going over bumps I really don’t care what my car looks like I just care about my back not hurting! Lol. There is a really good company in Kingston that specialise in Landrover and Jag, all ex PCP with one year warranty thrown in and they have loads of Ipace usually around 20 cars in stock 3 years old with around 35,000 miles. @@UKTonyMagill
